Set in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, which is rated as being one of the finest game viewing areas in Africa, Camp Xakanaxa has one of the best locations in Botswana. Accommodation is in twelve tastefully furnished tents with twin or double beds and en-suite facilities with shower, hand basin and w.c. The tents are situated on the edge of the lagoon and from their private viewing deck, with comfortable loungers, one looks onto the reed fringes at the waters edge. The camp, with its eclectic mix of furnishings from all over Africa, has a dining room, lounge/bar area, fire deck and plunge pool all slightly raised on wooden platforms with spectacular views over the lagoon. The reception area boasts a curio shop. At night the camp looks stunning as it is lit by dozens of paraffin lamps and candles. The game drives in this sector of Moremi take one down winding tracks, through Mopane forests and across lush grasslands. The waterways are either forded by vehicles or crossed on rustic log bridges. The camp faces out over the Xakanaxa Lagoon on the Khwai River, where combined boat and mokoro (dug-out canoe) trips explore the sinuous channels and floodplains of the Delta, one of Africa’s greatest natural wonders. Birding in the area is excellent, especially in the spring and summer months when the migrants are breeding. To the north are the world famous heronries, which attract large numbers of breeding storks and herons.

Amazing sunsets, Beautifully appointed tent cabins, wonderful staff, quality wines, gourmet meals, nightly firepit blazing and the best guide ever. THABO! He brought Africa to life with his knowledge, genuine love of sharing his country, his smile and stories of his life in Africa. The entire staff made sure we were "home" during our stay.. nightly performance to announce our menu for the evening and warm greetings upon our return from the safari drives.. warm, wet cloths to wipe off the dust and brunch to satisfy the appetite. Thanks to Go2Africa and our friend Sue for giving us the memories!

Camp Xakanaxa exceeded our expectations and set a high bar for future safari camps! This was our favorite of the five camps/lodges we stayed at during our recent safari. Our home for three nights was super clean, luxurious, and very comfortable, the food was delicious (and ample), staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, and the activities were simply amazing. Our guide was very informative and very personable and engaged. We loved having the mix of water and land (although our favorite activity was the game drives). We saw so many amazing animals and loved every minute of our stay!

We spent 3 nights here as part of an extended tour of Botswana and Zambia. Our tent was very nice-- my only concern was the tents are packed a bit closely here. Fortunately, everyone retired pretty early so noise was not a problem. We had a group of 8 travelers and several had special dietary needs that were very well managed. The camp staff were very attentive and helpful. The wildlife viewing was decent but a bit underwhelming for what we usually see in Botswana. Several good sightings of lions and leopards but otherwise lacking in predators. We visited as the wet season was wrapping up so the predators and the prey were pretty spread out. One of the two guides that was assigned to us was very enthusiastic, knowledgable, and willing to search hard for some of the rarer

Return to Xakanaxa was just as good as previous visits .Metal handled the muddy rough roads like a champ still managing to spot everything and talk non stop as well! Oftie is a super barman could not do enough to please us .Eddie Zaza and Ipeleng were very capable managers and respected our privacy but there if needed. Food was good, Thanks to the biscuit maker for morning tea. Great to catch up with our old friend Baba who also enjoyed the ginger biscuits. Yvonne and Judy

Our 4 day stay at Xakanaxa was a most memorable experience. From the time we arrived until the time we left, we received the most wonderful service from all the staff. The accommodation is very comfortable and private - with the added bonus of Oscar the hippo wandering around at night! The various relaxing areas ensure that you can always find a private spot - and the 2 pools offer a welcome retreat in the heat of the day. Congratulations to Ipeleng and Zaza for their wonderful management of the camp - and to all the staff who made our stay so special. And a special thanks to Kedi - the most wonderful guide who made sure we saw what we were interested in, was most knowledgeable - and great fun!! We were very sad to leave after 4 very special days, and will be back.

Staying here was the experience of a lifetime! The entire staff is incredible, the camp itself is gorgeous, and we didn't have one bad minute while we were here. The food is absolutely incredible, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my food allergy. Everything they made, they'd make a version of it for me that I could eat. I've never felt so well taken care of, and I really really hope we will have the opportunity to return in the future. I would absolutely recommend this camp to anyone looking for a life changing vacation. Our guide was Kedi, and she was so much fun. Very polite, knowledgeable, and she was determined to make sure that we saw everything that we wanted to. Eddie, Zaza, and Ipeleng were the camp managers and made us feel right at home. We loved

Just got back from a couple of days at Xakanaxa (you'll get used to saying it after a while). It's a really lovely mixed (water and land) camp a short 20 minute flight from Maun. (if you're not great with small planes you really are landing pretty soon after take off!). It's a lovely open camp with great accommodation and a view over the river. The guiding was excellent (thanks to Kaiser and Harry) and the time in camp really nice. The pool had been warmed over the hot days and was lovely to swim in (who needs a siesta...?), our private dinner was lovely (mother and daughter catch up), food was great and the service excellent. Although the wildlife is more spread out at this time of year, Moremi itself is green and lush and beautiful there are lots of cute babies to be

This tented camp benefits from a stunning setting next to a channel allowing for water based safaris and closeness to the Moremi national park. The surrounding country is varied and beautiful with a rapidly changing landscape with an abundance of animals. Our sightings include leopards, lions, zebra, wildebeest, numerous elephants and amazing bird life. The camp appears to a sanctuary for some animals with a semi resident hippo (Oscar), a huge fluffy fish eating owl and an antelope with a bad leg. The staff are excellent, our guide, Kitty was amazing and the food and service was simply wonderful.

We loved our 3-night stay at Xakanaxa. Our guide Harry was excellent -- so knowledgable and great at finding us so many animals! -- and everyone is just outstanding. The tents are comfortable and well-appointed. Having no power in the evenings (except for a few solar-powered lamps) was not a problem at all. We especially enjoyed the chance to do a boat safari on the river. We were surprised with a romantic private dinner on our last night, which was so lovely and thoughtful. Thank you to all the staff at Xakanaxa! We hope to come back!
