This hotel could be amazing if it was refurbish, but for £100 a night I expected something a little more than what can only be described as scruffy "youth hostel". They have got you by the short and curlys as Ullapool itself if stunning and there is little other B&B option and this hotel is big. The bathroom was so bad I waited till we moved on to get a shower. Flaking bath sides, mould etc. Wobbly toilet seat. Carpets threadbare and damp smelling, and dirt and rubbish everywhere. I expect to pay upper price for the location, but it at least could have been clean! It's such a shame as it could be lovely.

The staff on reception were professional. The hotel is very dated, the room was quite small, bed was ok. The bathroom was dreadful, you couldn't open the shower screen properly to turn on the taps because it was too close to the wash basin, the water was dangerously hot, I had to climb out of the bath before I scalded my feet. Once turned on we could get the shower to turn off and had to get someone from reception to sort it out. Breakfast was mediocre and the tables were "sticky". We were going to have a drink in the lounge but there were some very vocal people with foul mouths so we went elsewhere. At £100 per night I expected something better, an expensive lesson learned, we won't be using this hotel again. This hotel was the only place in Ullapool that had a room and now I know why.

Front of house seems fine, until you get to your room. What a dump! I’ve done lots of road trips and stayed in some terrible places that reflect the price, £25-£30 a night I expect very little and accept that, but I paid decent money for this place. It barely made a simple base for the night, shower was broken, sink broken, no signal on tv, toilet was dirty from previous guest. I will be using a tent next time

Hotels in this part of the Scottish Highlands were few and far between and most were fully booked. The Caledonian had rooms available and although it didn't look luxurious, it was only for two nights, so we booked it. The staff were very helpful and were doing a great job. However, the rooms (we had one in the "demountable" at the back of the hotel, were very basic, with paper thin walls/ceiling and we could hear people in the room above walking around. The room had not been upgraded in years, the window was misted up and the view was non-existent. The bathroom too was basic and utilitarian. We had breakfast in the hotel, but no evening meals were available (during pandemic). We struggled to find anywhere to eat in Ullapool as there were many tourists here and a limited amount of restaurants/pubs to dine at. The breakfast was plentiful but basic. I didn't feel that the hygiene here was good enough, considering the current pandemic. Tables were sticky (is that the ant-bac gel?), and people were not socially distancing.

The hotel is in complete need of refurbishment, frayed carpets bedrooms scruffy and very tired looking. Our bathroom the plunger tap to switch from bath to shower was broken the bath panel was broken and attempted decorating looked very cheap and unprofessional. The only consolation was a good selection for breakfast cooked and continental. Sadly no restaurant for evening meals and lounge area and poor selection of beers meant early night only to be kept up half the night with a couple fighting swearing and banging about in their room till about 3am, would advise to avoid this place if you can.
