We stayed two nights while we were attempting the North Coast 500 We were recommended this hotel by a friend who had done the NC500 the last year, and I am happy to commend it to anyone. It is not the most modern of hotels but its location right on the front of Gairloch provides the most spectacular views. Whether that was sitting on the bench on the grass verge next to the "beach", facing the (very) bracing wind, or in the conservatory. The food is excellent and plentiful, with numerous choices for breakfast. The staff are friendly and very helpful. This appears to be a stop for people undertaking the NC500 and they offer a wide choice of bedroom options, from a bunkhouse to large sea view bedrooms A great base for a couple of nights if you want to explore as we did
Great hotel , right on the seafront, ample parking. Evening meal was really nice but breakfast was much better. Staff very friendly. Make sure you order the salmon and eggs as it’s massive. Would recommend to stay in this hotel.
Three of us stayed in the apartment room at the side of the hotel for one night. This consisted of a kitchen / lounge , a bathroom, one single room and one double room which was perfect for us. The selection of hotel food on the evening menu was extensive and the quality when it came was excellent too. This was the same for the breakfast menu the next morning. The hotel overlooks Loch Gairloch and has 3 levels of seating with a lock view. There are picnic benches on the lawn, behind them on a higher level are more comfortable chairs and tables then inside the glass fronted hotel is more indoor seating at a higher level again. Staff were great and the service quick and efficient.
We stayed here overnight on a motorbike trip around the north west highlands and we weren’t disappointed. The hotel is lovely , staff and owners couldn’t do enough for us, and the breakfast was fabulous. I experienced an issue with my motorbike and the owners son Peter not only lent me tools but also assisted me in a temporary repair to allow my journey to continue. It was probably nothing to Peter, but it meant the world to me and I can’t thank him enough . Peter and his dad are complete gentlemen. I will definitely stay at Myrtle Bank Hotel again and can’t recommend it enough .
I ordered red pepper and aubergine lasagne and was served mince lasagne. We finished our meal (main course only) as the table next to us were being served their starters. They ate their starters, their plates were cleared and their mains were served. They ate their mains then our plates were cleared. 40 minutes after we had finished our meals and 20 minutes after finishing our drinks we asked for the bill and card machine. 20 minutes later we asked for the again and were told “they’re just adding it all up” (2 mains and 2 drinks....). The bill then came with no card machine so we waited again. Overall 1hour 45mins for the wrong food... We would have had more drinks but didn’t fancy being trapped there any longer. Avoid!
