I am coming towards the end of a road trip around Scotland that I've done on a whim after a foreign holiday was cancelled. I have absolutely loved all of the places I have stayed at, particularly this one. It is warm and traditional, the perfect tonic to the stress at work I've been having lately. The area is quite remote but that's why I cam here for a few days. Room was comfortable and I shall definitely come back at sone point.
We have just left the lodge.. We turn up to everyone's keys lying on the main reception desk? Names and numbers of rooms of hotel guests staying in, is this not a breach of data protection?? Also, a phone number was provided if any assistance was required? I understand covid rules etc but we are in level 2 so face to face service is allowed. There was no explanation or anything to why our key was in our room door and papers with our surname and room number on it. It was like something out of the shining, half expected to be in the Highland hunger games next. Decor is old and dated, room comfortable. I don't think our room was dusted as a big spider decided to climb down from his web to say hello, at least he greeted us to our room. Shower was awful, I'm sure it's the same one my nana has had for 30 year's. Breakfast was mediocre, if you like a hard tattie scone your in for a treat. What a shame too, we are on our honeymoon and it just didn't hit the bar and we've travelled from town to town and every single stay has been fantastic. This really let our trip down.…
We stayed at this hotel while doing NC500. The hotel was ok and comfortable. It had no bar or restaurant. The man at the reception was arrogant and rude throughout our stay and not very helpful. Thank goodness we were only staying one night. Because of his behaviour I would not recommend staying at this place and we would certainly never go back
We stayed for 3 nights in early September and were very disappointed in the hotel. We had 2 small dogs with us so our bedroom was in an annex at the back of the hotel, and it was a very depressing space that we didn’t want to spend any time in. The main part of the hotel was very tired. We didn’t see the main bedrooms, but the lounge was reminiscent of a youth hostel, crammed with furniture and very dark. We had to walk through what was the dining room, now acting as a storage room for tables, chairs, crockery etc, to get to where breakfast was served. On a plus note, breakfast was very nice and the staff were very helpful. Dinner was served in a sister hotel 5 mins walk down the road in The Old Inn, and that was good. Sadly we couldn’t recommend and we won’t be returning.
Part of our Nc500 trip. Prebooked room without viewing. On arrival met by owner. I cannot say greeted, he launched into a rant insisting we download a track and trace qcode reader. Everywhere else has been happy to record our details, not this guy. He finally thrust a pad and pencil at me and said he wouldn't be keeping the details. Then gave us a breakfast menu and even though it said on the top to complete and leave later, he insisted on us completing it in front of him. Went to the room... Lovely view overlooking the harbour. 4poster bed. All sounds attractive, except for fact the drapes were torn and frayed. Curtains didn't fit the windows, very tired and dreary decorations. Bathroom OK large shower and plenty hot water, but small bath towels. The whole place needs an overhaul. Shown to our breakfast table, preset with our order but no milk for cereals and no spoons for yoghurt. Tea and coffee served from pump flasks, so everyone touching these as well as milk jug. So despite manager thinking he is Covid clever, he is opening the doors to cross contamination with the drink flasks. £122 for B&B. Worth about £50…
