Arriving at the Kilcot Inn on a hot Saturday afternoon after a long day of viewing local sights was an absolute pleasure. The usual, very necessary checks for covid were swift and not intrusive to our welcome. The inn is convenient for trips out to the Malverns, The forest of dean and Wye valley. Our room was spacious, olde worlde charming with a door to knock yourself out on, literally. However, you must expect this from an old inn, dont complain about the frame being 4 inches shorter than your 6ft, just duck as the warning signs say. It's worth it. Bed was very comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space. Bathroom was spacious with all facilities, Bath, separate shower and that funny thing that i think you're meant to wash your feet in. Dinner was booked for 7.30. The restaurant was busy and adequately social distanced. The chef can sure cook a steak and the venison was heavenly as were the home made fishcakes. The different menu than that viewed on the inn website is adequately explained by the fact that new owners have recently taken over and web updating is imminent. However the slight disappointment that some items shown online werent available was more than compensated by the choices available. The usual background music was understated, no shouting across the table to be heard over the wailings of the tune of the week on a dozen totally misplaced speakers. Weatherspoons it isnt, the music was there but didnt intrude. The staff have to be mentioned in a separate section. Attentive, chatty, and a credit to the owners and the establishment. All in all a top nights stay, perhaps a little rough around the edges but there are always improvements to be made and, to her credit the new owner is more than happy to discuss and listen to comments. It's not easy in today's covid ridden environment but top marks for the Kilcot Inn. We will definately be using the Inn again when we are staying in the area.

Hi Jim, Thank you so much for taking the time to give such an excellent, in-depth review. As we have only just opened under new ownership, reviews like this give us confidence in the direction we are going. We're sorry for the mishap regarding our menu on the website, as explained to you, we are in fact in the process of having a new website made which will have an up-to-date menu although we are pleased it didn't ruin your stay with us. We are particularly pleased with your comments regarding our staff! We pride ourselves on our warm welcome and friendly service. Once again thank you for your fantastic review and we look forward to seeing you again in the future!

My wife booked in earlier in the day and reported that the room was clean and large, possibly the best room. We had only booked the evening before.
On arriving at the Kilcot in it was about 10.00pm the car park is unlit and dark. Even more so the outside entrance was also in darkness. A member of staff was leaving so it was good timing. The dark entrance and car park is my only minor comment.

The room is large a big double bed, very large built in wardrobe and a 2 dear sofa. There is a small TV hung by a dressing table and mirror. We found still and sparkling water in glass bottles, tea and coffee making.
The bed was comfortable and the room just the right temperature. As there is no window facing the road it is quite.

Breakfast was good quality food and I think organic. Sour dough toast, fruit apple and orange, yogurt plain and fresh with the choice of jam or honey. The bacon and sausage were good quality and proper fried egg.

Great stay, nice people and good location.

Hi Graham. Thank you for your fantastic review! We are happy that you enjoyed your breakfast and your nights stay in our accommodation. We are particularly pleased you found the rooms to be clean and comfortable. Yes the recent rain had caused problems with the trip switch to lights in our car park. Now it has dried out and it's fine but apologies for that. We hope to see you again sometime!

Visited here to pop in to friends in the village and also attend Gloucester v Exeter so needed a no fuss gaff for the evening. It was valentines night, whatever that might be (I recall a vague memory of unrealistic expectations as a youth, now long passed). Booked a room earlier in the year so no problems on an apparently popular night when there may have been no room at the inn. Extremely easy to book via the intaweb.

Made very welcome upon arrival after a wet and blustery journey with Storm Dennis in attendance. Cosy, historic pub with roaring fire, beams and possibly tame woodworm - excellent!

Shown to a nice large double, the Malvern, (watch your head on the low door frame if you're anything above 5' 8" unless you're shorter and jump) which was fully provisioned and spacious.

Breakfast next day was excellent and served in again a welcoming and friendly fashion.

Could've stayed longer but the bar wasn't yet open.

Minor issue with dirty cup but no problem - soon sorted....

Whole package was excellent value and very much more enjoyable than the rugby.

Certainly would stay again if in area and would happily recommend.

Very welcoming staff and nice charming rooms. Our evening meal was lovely. It was a little chilly sitting outside but due to social distancing restrictions we had probably left it a bit late to book a table. The service was good and the staff were friendly.
My only negatives would be that breakfast was small and average quality and the tables in the bar were very sticky !
I would recommend and definitely stay here again. We visited the nearby three choirs vineyard while we were here, also definitely worth a visit.

Thank you for your review and especially for your comments regarding the service you received! We are so pleased you received such a warm welcome and you enjoyed your stay as well as your evening meal. However we are a little confused regarding the comment on your breakfast. There were a variety of different options available and you could order as much or as little as you wanted as the breakfast is included in your stay. Maybe we didn't explain this well enough to you so we apologise for that. We are aware that some of our tables are a little tacky. This is because, as per the current government guidelines, they are being sanitized after each use and not wiped down with a general cleaning spray. We are looking into how we can tackle this problem safely. Once again thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you again soon.

We were staying locally and nipped in here for a few drinks and a meal. Place was lovely and the food was warm and plentiful. With covid they are seating people and taking orders at the table. The place was clean and well organised. We will be back in novemeber

A two day break, very spacious and comfortable room with quality bedding, excellent ensuite and a pleasure to spend time in. The breakfasts were outstanding, huge choice and very high quality ingredients. Evening meals were of very high quality, and very reasonably priced. Portions were very large indeed. Definitely highly recommended and will visit again. A vey short distance from the International Bird of Prey Centre.

Just spent 2 nights at The Kilcot Inn and this is without a doubt THE best inn we have stayed at over the last couple of years. We stayed here based on previous Tripadvisor reviews and it didn't disappoint at all. We were made to feel so welcome as soon as we arrived at around 8pm on a Friday evening and the young lady who showed us to our room brought a menu up for us to look at as we were clearly starving! We unpacked & went down to the restaurant which was pleasantly busy and had a nice buzz about it. Food was fantastic, I had fish and my wife had chicken, gorgeous. Our room was a great size, lovely comfortable bed, HUGE wardrobe and large en suite bathroom.
Breakfast the next morning was served in the cosy dining room and was delicious.
This may all sound over the top but it really was just a brilliant place and we can't wait to stay again, thank you so much to everybody at The Kilcot!!

Thank you for your question BEEBOP_11. The pub itself is dog friendly but I am afraid we don't allow dogs to stay in the accommodation. Please feel free to contact us if we can help you in any further way.
