I booked in advance, asking for a specific table, knowing we would only be allowed in the bar because one of the group had a well behaved dog.
My biggest complaint is I didn't have this table but one down the other end, near the door & all the trestle tables, The noise in this pa

A party of 6 (plus a few dogs) stayed for a couple of nights in mid November. We didn't dine in the hotel preferring to go to the hambro arms in milton abbas for old times sake. The crowns accommodation and bar were excellent and far better and upmarket than we had expected. Spa

I often stay at this hotel, the rooms a nicely furnished but the picture frames could use a duster every once in a while. The restaurant offers interesting menus that change regularly with some innovative food offers, the downside is the service which often lacks professional app

The hotel has been refurbished and the rooms are very well decorated, clean and comfortable, Nice bar and very friendly/helpful staff. I like that fact that breakfast starts at 7.00 enabling an early start in the morning.

Just back from a weekend break - could not have asked for more. Rooms charming with a bed that was actually comfortable. Helpful staff who went out of their way to make our stay stress free - ordering taxis etc. Liked the fact we could eat in the restaurant or choose from bar

Would it be possible to make part of the hotel for residents only? Our stay was spoilt by the unbearable noise Friday and Saturday night made by local drinkers. There was no room anywhere for our group to have a 'quite' coffee after a meal. The residents lounge, bar and patio areas were full to capacity, we even had trouble getting through the entrance to return to our room. Told by a staff member that even the private garden was not available for hotel guests. Shame as your hotel was in a perfect position for touring the area. Otherwise we would look forward to staying again but not while the noise problem remains.
Thank you for your constructive feedback. As much as I sympathise with your concerns and observations, Hall and Woodhouse Houses are very much the centre of the community and without the support of our local guests as well as our residential guests the Crown wouldn’t be as successful as it is today. In 2016 we will be undergoing a refurbishment, reconfiguring the layout of the ground floor to include separate entrances to the bar and main hotel/restaurant therefore creating a more distinct separation between the two areas and creating a larger coffee area.
