We recently stayed at the Sugar Loaf Lodge in Sedona on 89A and have to say that we were totally impressed with every aspect of our five nights there. First off, it is a "throwback" motel like you would have seen on Old Route 66. Small, cozy, and very, very clean. Everything about this motel is top notch...The pool area tucked in behind the main building is spotless....As are the grounds and of course the rooms. Our room was clean and very comfortable... We especially liked the shower as it was strong and had plenty of hot water. The Sugar Loaf Lodge is on Hwy. 89A and the location is perfect. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. Multiple gas stations and even a couple of super markets for food supplies...Both owner Thor and Blair the manager are friendly and willing to give you ideas on sightseeing, attractions, and places to go... In the lobby there was coffee, tea, juice and breakfast snacks to take with you on your daily adventures...As there seemed to be numerous people staying at Sugar Loaf Lodge while we did that were hikers and back-packers.... While the Sugar Loaf Lodge may not look like a fancy and expensive resort, don't let that fool you...The accommodations were clean, comfortable, friendly, perfectly located and very affordable...We highly recommend the Sugar Loaf Lodge.

My husband and I stayed here only one night on our way to Grand Canyon. We were greeted by a very friendly man in the front office, checked in within 3 minutes, parking directly in front of our room door. We had a small fridge, microwave, hair dryer, small table for eating breakfast and dinner. Beds were comfy. Could use a coat of paint in the bathroom, but otherwise completely comfortable for our one night. Very affordable compared to other accommodations nearby.

This was a very pleasant stay, a cozy room with pool and hot tub available, convenient, with every amenity you could desire. Thor could not have treated us better, we were very delighted with his service. Super comfy bed, and a nice quiet atmosphere, good for relaxing while viewing a Sedona sunset, or a full moon rising, Our only regret is that we did not know how great it would be, otherwise, we would have booked an extra night or two! We will be back.

In a city awash with tourists and the expected expensive accommodations this little motel provides basic, clean and friendly rooms. Our two queen room was amply sized with a desk, dresser, a smallish flatscreen TV, refrigerator, microwave, two occasional chairs and holder for one suitcase. An open shelf near the bathroom had plenty of room for hanging clothes and an iron and board. The bathroom is divided into a sink area with good counter space and a very small separate room with a shower/bath combo and a toilet. Lighting is just fair over the bathroom mirror and blinding in the shower room as the fan has a bright heat lamp. The room has a powerful heat/AC unit under a window. You park your car directly in front of your room; each room has a door to the outside. They do have a pool and hot tub which we didn’t utilize. The downsides: the decor is aging. The carpet and chairs are stained and one had ripped fabric( someone’s cat?) They do allow pets. The bathroom floors and counters are old tiles with stained grout. The toilet seat is tiny because a larger one wouldn’t let the door close. The bathroom fan/heatlamp growls menacingly but does work. There are a few power plugs in the main room but no USB ports. They provide a small continental breakfast you can take back to your room but we chose to walk just a block away to an excellent breakfast diner called the Coffee Pot. There’s also a Starbucks directly across the street. Many other restaurants are within easy walking distance as is a Whole Foods market. If you’re in Sedona for the scenery and the shops and just need a clean comfortable place to stay without spending a fortune this works just fine.

you must have to pay for location here, because this was one step above the Motel 6, just your basic beds and decent bathroom, basically clean, but old and outdated. I just needed a place to stay for overnight, so good enough, but not worth $120. Sedona is so beautiful though, didnt matter.
