If you are going to the Mayo Clinic, this is really the best place to go, perhaps even the only place. The lobby and pool areas are quite nice, and the common areas are well taken care of. I really think the management needs to take a look at each of the rooms from a client’s perspective, though. There was quite a buildup of dust all around the carpeted edges of the room, showing that nobody has used a vacuum on those edges in a very long time. That's not something I would normally notice, but it is quite obvious and hard to miss. There were areas around the tub and shower that were showing mold, and there were other areas that were just not professionally maintained. Remember that this is the hotel that caters to folks with health issues that are visiting the Mayo Clinic. A clean environment is pretty important. There were a lot of kids staying when we were there over a weekend and they were quite loud, which normally didn't bother me but they were out at the pool pretty late at night making a lot of noise (11pm or a bit later). It would probably be quieter if you have a room that doesn't back up to the pool area. If you don't need to be near Mayo, I'd look elsewhere. It's not really close to much else.

Hotel's Favourite
Very clean and comfortable hotel. Nice plush mattress and pillows. Large courtyard with a lounge area, dinning area, and pool. All very clean and well kept. Negative is it's driving to everything. Very safe, upscale neighborhood.

I stayed here while I was in town for an interview. The closeness to the Mayo Clinic was nice and they have a shuttle to take you over there whenever you need to. They supposedly have breakfast and dinner, but it’s only on certain days and a day I was there was not one. This seemed to possibly be a temporary change, but their “market” options weren’t great. If that’s the only option then they need more to choose from than 3 cereals and packaged donuts. The room appeared to only get a surface clean which is extra disappointing knowing people are staying there while receiving treatment and probably have a compromised immune system. The sheets and towels were clean but they barely cleaned the bathroom and definitely didn’t dust anything. Needless to say I touched as little as possible while there. On top of it I had the room booked for me by the company and then the hotel charged my card that I gave for incidentals for the whole room without asking. When I called to see if they could change that they claimed the company must not have given them card information when they booked it. She either had no idea what she was talking about or lied because I don’t know any hotel that you can book without giving card information to hold the room.

My flight was delayed multiple hours and didn’t get to the hotel until 1am. They had already checked me in and put a hold for the room charges on my credit card. I told the front desk that I wanted to pay cash for my room. I was assured I would be able to at check out. When I went to check out I was told that my card had been run the night before. The front desk seemed inconvenienced by the request to pay cash and told me it was hard to reverse the charge on my card.

As a new patient to Mayo Clinic Scottsdale, Az we booked this hotel for the proximity of the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale Campus. This hotel is the closest to the Mayo building and just a 5-10 minute walk away from the entrance. While this seems great, the hotel needs better management. We stayed for 5 days and checked out Dec 3rd, 2021. This is an honest objective review of the Sonesta Select Hotel located at Mayo Clinic. This hotel is DIRTY, lack of housekeeping, no hotel security on site. The hotel is isolated from other buildings and businesses, so security is a concern. Dirty, no hotel security for guests, lack of good food service. Upon checking in, we were told the clerk at the front desk, also serves as the cook and waitress or waiter. This is totally unacceptable. The lack of service and rate of $169.00 per night is excessive and dramatically overpriced. The only attraction of this hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to Mayo Clinic. Keep in mind the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix is located 15 miles from this location. If you have multiple appointments at Mayo Scottsdale and Mayo Hospital Phoenix, I highly recommend staying in somewhere between the 2 Mayo Clinic locations. For the daily rate charged, this hotel's only positive amenity is the location next to Mayo Clinic Scottsdale location.  Both myself and wife who traveled to Mayo Clinic for medical from Nov 29th to Dec 3rd 2021, could not possibly recommend this hotel to other Mayo Clinic patients. Keep in mind, while the hotel is just minutes away, this hotel is not worth the daily rates. In my comments to hotel management, I wrote the following. "Ms. Conley: We will not be back at this location. I will post my reviews on TripAdvisor and other social media sites regarding lodging on this facility. The Sonesta Select at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale, needs much work. Other travelers and patients of Mayo Clinic Scottsdale, who are considering this property need to be alerted as to the pitfalls of staying at this location. Mayo Patients need to be informed of exactly what to expect before booking this hotel. Reviews including mine, I see, are also quite poor with an average of a 2 rating. This rating of a 2 is sometimes equivalent to a Motel 6 review. There is absolutely no excuse for this facility to be dirty, lack security, and lack a decent food service for it's guests." Mayo Patients, there are many other facilities available for lodging within 5-6 miles of the Mayo Scottsdale Campus. Don't waste your time or money booking this hotel.

My husband and I hosted two sets of couples at this hotel in the last month at different times. Both couple complained about the rooms not being cleaned (when requested). The staff does not take out trash/provide guests with extra towels. One of our guest reported they ordered a breakfast sandwich that was prepared with "easy cheese" and microwaved. You would receive better service at a motel.

We actually stayed here twice, but TA doesn't let you write separate reviews for obvious reasons. 1st Stay: When we arrived in the evening, we got our keys, drove to the back of the hotel, went inside (the door was locked, used our keys) and when we got all the way to our room neither of the keys worked. We went alllll the way back to the front desk (big property) and then got new keys, all the way back and they worked. We settled into our room and realized that there were no sheets for the sofa bed. We called down to the front desk who said that they would arrive shortly. 30 mins later and we call down again. The lady says that the housekeeper had said they dropped off the sheets (nothing outside the door). Now we're all in PJ's and we need to go to the front desk in our PJ's. We finally got to bed. The next day, we realized that the Microwave didn't work. The decor was... dated. We had a small balcony overlooking the pool. There is no fan in the bathroom and the shower temp goes like 100º if you turn it just a little. We realized that there were 2 towels in a room with 3 beds. We went down to the desk and got more towels. We checked out and came back later. 2nd Stay: When we checked in in the afternoon, we came prepared and asked for towels and sheets at check-in. When we got to our room (different one than before) the keys worked fine (phew!) and so did the microwave. As dated as the other room, still no fan in the bathroom. We had a patio that was facing the pool. When we went to the pool the hot tub was hot and the pool was pretty warm as well. This hotel has a nice location on Shea Blvd easy to access Scottsdale and Fountain Hills. Overall this hotel was average and the service was below average. The price was nice and because they just changed hands from Courtyard to Sonesta, there were probably some communication issues.

Hopefully they are on the road to recovery. They are no longer managed by Merriott, perhaps because they did not meet standards? VERY CONVENIENT to the Mayo Clinc so if that is your overriding goal a good choice. They also extended our stay there due to additional Mayo appointments which is a BIG positive. They have a laundry but I have no idea how long it has been since they cleaned it. Stairs were never cleaned during our week stay. Outside garbage overflowing. Housecleaning they said only once a week due to Covid. The front desk had towels, etc. Short story: The only reason I would stay there again was proximity and accommodation to the Mayo Clinic. Otherwise unimpressive.

The reviews don't lie. It smells like a nursing home. They start you with 3 towels in the bathroom if you are lucky and a half roll of toilet paper. I wouldn't use the stove, it looks like it's from 1950. The carpets are so gross be sure to wear your shoes only god knows whats on them. And to top it off we were woken by a fire alarm at 2:30 in the morning...atleast we know they work.

Just checked into our room. Looked around the room, thought the room was clean. Everything seemed good until I looked at the carpet. Definitely wasn't vacuumed. Room looks decent. Bathtub needs to be updated with new caulking around the tub. Here for three days. Overall seems to be alright of a place. Bonus points: Close to shopping centers and restaurants. Not great, but a average stay.
