My niece and I wanted to get away before the Christmas Choas set in. We booked through Costco and picked the Westin based upon reviews. I travel frequently for work and pleasure. I have stay in high end hotels and average hotels. I was expecting a 4 ⭐️ experience and that wasn’t what we got. The hotel is overpriced. Our first room had blood on the carpet and in the bathtub. They moved us to a different room without any type of upgrade or breakfast voucher. This is a standard “Oopsie” gift. Housekeeping never came In the 5 days that we stayed. We had to ask for towels and TP days 3. The refrigerator in our room didn’t work. The hotel was quiet while we were there. Many fun features like poolside cabanas were not in demand by the quests. We asked to use one, for a fee, and were stunned by the daily rate. 2 vodka /cranberry drinks at the bar were $46.00. I could have bought a lot of vodka for that price! Breakfast buffet for 2 people was $80 and was the most underwhelming buffet I have ever seen. The Spa is beautiful but also overpriced. The treatments we received were nothing to write home about. They have a lovely fire pit but charge for the s’mores. Our hotel room was pricey for all of the add ons. The valet staff are the nicest people you will ever meet! They be even drive you down to Kierland Commons. Also, the most putrid smell ever is pumped into the lobby AND …. There are snakes on display. TLDR: You pay a lot for what you get. Not worth the price.

Dear sunshinegang35, Thank you for reviewing our hotel and mentioning how much you enjoyed the courteous service provided by our valet associates. However, we are disappointed to read that our accommodations did not provide the value for which you were hoping. We always strive to be competitively priced. Please also know, our top priority is our guests' well-being and safety; keeping that in mind, we have adjusted our housekeeping services to suit each guest's requirements. For a future visit, please know that our front desk is always happy to arrange these specifics. We do sincerely apologize if this was not communicated to you upon check-in. We hope you and your niece will give us another chance to provide you with the seamless stay you deserve. Ryan Lemcke Guest Services Manager The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa

I understand that it is Covid times, but also realize that this is Christmas week and would expect that there was something special about this Westin, like others we have visited. The food was excellent- however, it was extremely limited and quite pricey. For a resort of this size, I would expect some more options. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There needs to be training for the "concierge" tables. Most frustrating? They decided to install brick pavers, which include the dusty and loud cutting, the week of Christmas, eliminating tables outside. Why???? Christian (phones), JB (valet), Jessica and Veon (service) were amazing...

We visited this resort over the Thanksgiving holidays. We stayed in the hotel section. Our room was very nice and overlooked the outdoor gathering area. Pools were nice...I must say the pool bathrooms were the cleanest I have ever seen at a resort. Nice walking paths around the resort and golf course. Staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. Wes our pool waiter was great at making sure we had drinks and food. The only issue we had is the prices on everything at the resort were so extremely high so we never ate in any of the restaurants or bars on site. We went to other places outside the resort to eat. Kierland Commons is a nice walk from the resort...lots of shops. We will be coming back next year as we purchased a reservation at the Kierland Villas.

I’m not a big reviewer however I am a Bonvoy titanium elite member and use Tripadviser exclusively to decide which Marriott to stay at during my travels, based on other elite reviews. I came for the USA women’s half marathon, which has moved permanently to Scottsdale. I actually chose to stay here because my girlfriend that I was running with brought her husband and two kids and they wanted a fun place for them to stay. First, I’ll talk about the important things I look at in my reviews- status perks. I was upgraded to a suite upon arrival, which was wonderful. When I got to the room, however, the housekeepers were in the room cleaning. The man at the front desk who checked me in felt so badly that he personally came up and gave me keys to the room next door until my room was ready, even though I told him I had booked a spa appointment that afternoon. He was so nice, I wish I wrote his name down because I can’t pronounce it, it was a very long name. They gave me complimentary breakfast for two, and on the weekends it’s applied towards their brunches, which is typically $28. I couldn’t use them Saturday because the race was so early so they let me use four on Sunday. I also received a complimentary gift from their marketplace. The service and attention to elite status was wonderful at this hotel. For titanium elite members who look for hotels that honor status I highly recommend this hotel, and their service is fantastic. For those with families, this is a fantastic hotel. Kids loved the activities throughout the the day, the waterslide and lazy river, s’mores at night, all complimentary. They have basketball and tennis courts, ping pong, I think pickle ball also. We booked the flowrider also. All in all it was a wonderful stay. For those coming out for this half marathon, it’s a great place if you want to turn it into a vacation with your family. I will return and bring my family next time.
