This hotel is simply perfect. Owned and run by a dedicated couple. Every detail is precise and tasteful. Contemporary decor with beautiful eclectic furnishings. Berny and Glenn are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. The food, 100% vegetarian, is original and inspired using local organic ingredients. Location is remote with beautiful views but only 20 minutes from the best beaches and seafood restaurants. Every room is different. Some are in the main house and some in cabins and you should discuss your preferences when you book. Hotel quality is luxury and prices could be twice what they charge and still be good value. Really nothing to improve. A rare find.
Paraiso Escondido is a real gem! It has a very friendly, relaxing, welcoming atmosphere. The hotel is scrupulously clean with great attention to small details and the interiors are both pleasing and harmonious. The food was a real revelation! Wonderful, locally sourced imaginative dishes, with many of the vegetables grown organically on site, and cheeses produced locally. The evening meal is the main food focus, but breakfasts are really super - try the eggs! It is not a hotel in the traditional sense. It is a large, very welcoming, purpose-built house, with dining room, sitting room, bar, the owner's separate accommodation and some guest rooms. Then also around the site there are other independent rooms, so the feel is very much being welcomed into a home rather than a hotel, but you also have full privacy. The standard of the buildings is really excellent. The hosts, Berny and Glen, are very well attuned to which guests want to chat and which guests want peace and quiet. We also enjoyed a fantastic yoga lesson in a beautiful purpose-built studio with stunning views and I had an awesome massage in their dedicated spa. The room was spacious and immaculately clean with modern furnishings and a thoughtfully stocked mini bar. A remote spot in the hills, but no problem with wifi and phone coverage. The hotel is run on principles of sustainability, with its own water flirtation system and solar panels. The area is known for its beautiful beaches, and many are just a 20-minute drive away, but it is also idyllic spending the day at the hotel by the pool. Berny is great at recommending and securing bookings at local restaurants. It is a fabulous environment in which to unwind and be very well looked after. We are looking forward to visiting again!…
1/7 A hidden gem tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city in the Alentejo coast. Authentic, charming and beautifully decorated with lots of light. Every room has a different vibe and energy, it will be hard to choose which one you want, so you’re will have to go back! We stayed in a beautiful bungalow on stilts with an incredible high view of the countryside. Great organic food, great location if you are looking for nature, (be it the countryside or the beach) and of course the amazing hosts Berny and Glen … what’s not to like 🤍 Highly recommend for a much needed piece of heaven away! This is where I fully realized the meaning of the term „destination hotel”. So coherent in its beauty: every detail in a spacious living room and restaurant is beautiful, a panorama around is stunning, food is not just good but sophisticated in a way that makes you happy you’ve had it. You can feel the hospitality of Berny and Glen is real, not manufactured. They want you there. We stayed in a bungalow immersed in trees, with a big terrace and hypnotic view of the hills around. All of this made me so deeply relaxed that for the first time in my life watching the game of my national volleyball team playing finals in League of Nations I… fell asleep:) And it was an exciting game! „It might be the most beautiful hotel we’ve been to”, I said to my husband as we were leaving.
Some places you want to keep for yourself and keep secret from others. Paraiso Escondido is one of those places where Berny and Glen make you feel at home. They spoil you with delicious foods, great wines and a friendly smile. Loved the vegetarian food and the eco sustainable concept. The sunrise from Camomila bungalow is amazing. Paraiso escondido is definitely on our list to return again soon!
