Rivierplaas is a working farm situated on the banks of the Breede River ±25km south of Worcester. We are only an hour and a half's drive from Cape Town, nestled in the area of Scherpenheuwel. Pet-owners would be glad to learn that we are a pet-friendly campsite. We offer big stretched out lawns and child-friendly play areas. What will probably strike you most is the peace and quiet

The campgrounds and ablution blocks are well maintained, there is enough to do for the kids to keep them busy. The fishing is excellent and I did catch 6 carp and a catfish, the bass I'm afraid was too clever for me. I had a good couple of bites but my bad bass catching skills suck. Overall it was a great camping weekend and I will definitely visit Rivierplaas again. The grounds are well maintained and clean, the shop that's on the farm is a blessing if you run out of ice or wood and they are not overpriced. A must-visit for any camping and fishing lovers out there. There are lots of beutifull trees for shade.

If you do not like the sounds of nature and prefer party revelers drowning out birdsong crickets and a babbling river stream….. then this is the place for you. Despite the rules which were ignored, management did not enforce their own rules. The final straw was when they started playing cricket in the road in front of our campsite and hitting our Jeep several times, despite there being plenty of grassed lawns where they could play. When we brought this to the management's attention it was shrugged off as they are enjoying themselves. Unfortunately we do not "enjoy" our vehicle being part of a cricket game, our tent being smoked by immature inconsiderate neighbour's, being flooded by the neighbour's 1000 watt flood light directly next to our site, listening to amateur kareokee renditions into the late hours of the night. The establishment did not deliver on its promises of peace and quiet which is a pity as the surroundings are quite beautiful. Also please note that the shop is about 15 minutes walk from the campsite at a fairly good pace.

Hi Judy, I am sorry you had a bad experience at our venue. Unfortunately your site was next to a lively group of young people. They did start to play guitar music around the fire. Yes, we did asked them to stop and they did. They also sang happy birthday later on in the evening to one of their friends, but it was not an all night karaoke event as you put it. Sitting around the fire and chatting at 11:30pm is allowed. We also spoke to all the other groups around your campsite and they had no problem with the behaviour of the youngsters. Unfortunately we are not going to tell people how to set up their camp or what lights they may or may not use. We also cannot control the smoke from other sites campfires. We do leave a lot of open grass areas specifically for people to play games - we are not going to stop people from having fun. The stream in front of your campsite are not "babbling" but a deep pool.....Unfortunately we are not going to move the shop closer to the campsite, we need the power on the farmyard to run the fridges. We are definitely not promoting our venue as a "party spot for twenty somethings", the other 25 groups that were also there that weekend can vouch for that. Hope to see you back one day. Sorry again that you didn't enjoy it at our rustic venue. I hope you will find your happy camp spot. Happy Camping

Huge group of family and friends spend a weekend in this lovely tranquil spot. Clean campsite, rustic showers and wash up facilities(with a warter warming 'donkey'). Spacious riverfront stands which are very private. Ideal environment to recharge soul and mind and have a great time with friend and family. Fun swimming in the river, foefieslide and fishing. We will most certainly be back!!

I loved that this campsite had large stands with lovely green grass rather than plain sand. They were also divided by small trees giving a measure of privacy. I think it may be very busy in school and public holidays making the river activities quite busy. The ablutions were kept clean but I never did master the donkey water system causing me to be either scalded or alternatively freezing in the shower. If anything could be improved upon I would say the showers. There is also no electricity on the camp site but this was communicated to us beforehand.

What a lovely weekend we recently had at this rustic campsite! The rafts, canoe's, fishing and foefie slide kept the kids happily entertained. The bathrooms are clean and beautifully done. The manager was quick to speak to the noisy group. We'll be back!!

Was amazed by this place. Close from Cape Town. Spacious campsites. Very clean and enough shade. Bathrooms are clean and you have to use a donkey boiler. No electricity which makes it more fun. Zipline was great and there are canoes that you can use. JB is very helpful and there is a little shop which keeps the basics such as cooldrinks, ice, ice creams, chips, etc. Definitely will be going there more often and highly recommend it to anyone. My dogs had a ball especially swimming in the river.

Spacious sites, free use of water transportation devices, Zipline which is amazing. Campsites were very big and comes with a drum for fire. Bathrooms were clean and kept that way regularly during our stay. Trees all around so shade is available. Water available on each site however no electricity. Mosquitos are a pain for about an hour, but its part of the camping experience. Overall a very good place to stay

The campsites are well kept and spacious. The bathrooms are clean and the facilities pleasant. The zip line was an absolute blast and the other water activities fun too. The only drawback I had was the mosquitoes but this can be expected at a campsite along the river. A very good experience overall, definitely need to go back there again :)
