Alluvia Hotel is lauded for its cleanliness and scenic location, nestled close to winelands and charming towns, a highlight for many guests. While service is typically friendly and attentive, some reviewers note occasional lapses. The hotel's amenities, especially the renovated pool with mountain views, receive acclaim, although the readiness of rooms and pool cleanliness have been points of contention.
Travelers have mixed views on value, citing unexpected costs but some find the prices reasonable. Dining options outside the hotel might require a bit of travel, as per some guests.

The setting, the staff, the rooms, the beds, the breakfast, from the moment you arrive at Alluvila until the time you leave you feel like you have been treated like a VIP.
We booked direct, which was equal too or better than most OTA’s. So it’s always worth a visit to the official website and a call.
We arrived early and had lunch at the Alluvia restaurant, which overlooks vineyards that are surrounded by mountains in what can only be described as a beautiful picturesque setting.
Down below animals roam, goats, donkeys and 3 (was my eyes playing tricks) llamas. Were we in South Africa or South American?
Yes there are 3 Llamas on the estate, which you can stroll down to see up close and personal. All the animals are inquisitive and come right up to the edge of the fence to greet you.
Shortly after lunch and before the usual 2pm check-in time we were taken to our room, Oakleaf 2.
What a pleasure, the room was fabulous well appointed, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean.
We entered onto a separate lounge with large sofa and dining table, that looked out over to the swimming pool, which we later found to be heated. We then stepped up to the bedroom and kitchen area, which has a fireplace and dressing table. The extended king bed was Uber comfortable with crisp white linen.
The ottoman at the bottom of the bed hides a flat screen TV, which lifts into position with the touch of a button.
The separate bathroom is enormous, marble tiled from floor to ceiling with double basins, glassed showered and a stone cast free standing bath, it’s beautiful.
All in all our stay was wonderful and demonstrates just how much effort the estate owners have invested into the estate, surroundings and staff.
Thank all of you for a wonderful stay.

The location of the restaurant is beautiful, no doubt about that. When we arrived, we were really blown away by the views - until we took a seat. Either the chairs are too low or the handrail is too high, but however you put it: You have the beam of the handrail blocking the views of the mountains. Never mind.
The lady in the service welcomed us without saying "Hello" or anything friendly, despite us being the only guests. Menus were put on the table without any comment, water was poured (nice gesture), but spilling all over my plate and table, lady disappeared without apologizing or drying it up.
The food was not overly expensive, but also not really good. Our 2 starters were ok, but the mains below par. My wife had the springbok, which was very tough and had no taste at all. I had the pork, which must have been very old - it was probably the toughest piece of pork I've had in my life. As all other reviews are raving about the food, maybe the kitchen crew had an off day when we were there.
Would we come back? - Yes, if they manage to improve on service and more attention is given to the food. We'd be happy to pay slightly more, but would like quality to improve.

We enjoyed a relaxing few days away in the Stellenbosch mountains and vineyards. The accommodation is new and clean, and the reception and restaurant staff are really friendly, helpful and keen to chat!
I have to agree with one reviewer about the enthusiastic and bustling cleaning team around the rooms, rather noisy. Also, there are some gremlins to be sorted out with the lights and switches in the rooms!
Overall we loved our stay, and enjoyed the amazing mountain bike trails and the positive vibe of the Banhoek Conservancy.

What a disaster.
We were attending a wedding at the next door vineyard, and booked four different rooms, 6 months prior. We had contacted the venue at least 3 times and explained the wedding was an early start so could we please maybe get access to the rooms 30 mins early? We had also booked for lunch and arrived in plenty of time to again discuss our dilemma. The 4 couples only lived 2hrs away and arrived at 11:30 and went straight to the reception to say we had arrived and would go have an early lunch and if they could please let us just change in our rooms, we had all showered before so it was a 5 min wardrobe. Straight away it was a problem, the reception staff were far from interested and far from helpful.
We finished lunch and went back to reception at 1:30 knowing that guests next door had probably already started arriving and that we were going to be fashionably late.
Again we asked if we could please just change clothes, and that the wedding was going onto 1am so we just needed the keys, by this time 20 mins early. We were again told that by now only one room was ready and that the late duty manager would arrange keys when we arrived back….. My husband and I said that the policy was ridiculous and surely we could just have a key to gain access later on in the evening. Finally we were given a key but one of our group was not.
We changed anyway and left.
When we returned at 10:50 leaving early because we were more mature couples than many of the other wedding guests. We were shocked to discover NO duty manager and reception locked. Our friends staying in the room without been given a key decided to drive back to Cape Town rather than sleep on one of the couches in the other rooms.
The next morning we went straight to reception to complain only to again be met with a far than sympathetic staff member. We were simply told to phone the manager the next morning and ask for a refund on the room.
The setting is stunning in a stunning part of the world. The rooms are not cheap, and dated. So with the attitude they have please book elsewhere.

Our kids booked us for a picnic and spa treatment at this beautiful wine estate . The picnic lunch was good a bit too much food though they can reduce it and reduce the price a bit . The spa treatment was good just a small spa with treatment rooms but enjoyable not a spa that you can spend a lot of time at but just for a treatment. The picnic views were stunning . Was relaxing to be outdoors enjoying good food , great views and family time .

The hotel room was great, but it was not ready upon arrival at 14h00 - 15h00, the reception offered us a free wine tasting in the meanwhile which was great! Great red wines! The restaurant was booked for a function, and we could not eat dinner there, they offered a very limited room service menu, and we rather ate somewhere else. It was inconvenient to drive around at night in the rainy weather looking for a restaurant considering the location of the hotel. Seems they cater more for functions than for the overnight hotel guest. The stairs to the hotel room situated on the outside of the building is a concern when its raining as it can be slippery. They have great wines though.

We were 6 friends who went for lunch today (27 Sept 2020). Never heard of Allulia. The views are amazing, the chef Shaun Schoeman came to chat to us immediately - such a great person. The wine was great, the food just wow. We shared bobotie spring rolls as a starter. Such great flavours, paired with a yogurt dip and pineapples bits in an interesting sauce. @ have lamb curry for mains (Malay flavours -so flavourful and soft), 2 had fresh tuna - divine. Medium rare with lovely ratatouille and sweet potato fries, 2 shared small plates with different starters. We had pancakes and creme brule for desert, beautifully presented and just such great combination of flavours. Our bill was very reasonable. Loved every minute and will be back!

We booked for a table for 12 pax for wine tasting and lunch.
The service was slow despite having 2 waiters on hand.
The wine tasting was quite skimpy @ R55 for 3 wines - we had to ask to taste the rosé wine as it was not offered.
The “small bowls” starters was a hit, but it ended there. The mains were all disappointing. We had the tuna steak, lamb rib, pizzas, burger and gnocchi. Very disappointed in the mains.

Hi Erica, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback and have addressed your concerns with our team and department heads. We have since introduced a brand new menu with a variety of mains on offer, and some tasty new small bowls as well. Our boutique range of fine wines is small and exclusive, but we've added an MCC. We sincerely hope to see you again soon. Warm regards, Team Alluvia

Alluvia is a beautiful wine estate with breathtaking views. The accommodation is lovely, the restaurant is fantastic and the staff are exceptional.
We went to Alluvia for a night away for my husband's 40th. I had a few questions and requests before we arrived and Gregory, the Estate Guest Relations Manager, assisted me with great professionalism and kindness every step of the way. We had a very special stay and will most definitely go back and would recommend it to others.
We had a lunch time picnic at the dam - the picnic baskets were filled to the brim with delicious treats and the picnic spot was beautiful. The benches could do with a bit of an upgrade, but otherwise it was perfect. In the afternoon we lounged in the sparkling pool, taking in all the gorgeous scenery. In the evening we had dinner at the Alluvia restaurant and the food was excellent. The service was fantastic too.
All in all a five star experience. Thank you to Gregory, Brendoline and all the staff! You are a great team.

We arrived on a Monday lunchtime, the sun was shining and although it had clearly rained the day before, the weather was lovely, and we checked in and asked for our picnic. I should have known by the slightly puzzled look on the reception desk that something was amiss. The puzzled look was followed by a search for my email, followed by another more puzzled look, followed by a phone call to the kitchen followed by them telling us the weather was too bad and the ground was too wet for a picnic. I think, in my opinion, they had missed the booking. The weather was fine, and the picnic area was populated by many benches, tables, chair and picnic furniture. The ground was never an issue. So they missed the booking. They did offer us lunch in recompense, it was very nice indeed, but it was not what we booked, and it did slightly deflate our birthday celebration.
The same goes for the Spa treatments we booked, again with a birthday present voucher. The spa was not yet open, and the treatments took place in an empty hotel room with a very nice lady working out of a rucksack playing whale music on her phone. Again the treatments were good, the spa therapist was very good, but it was clear they were not fully up and running.
Overall we had a good time at Alluvia despite our caveats outlined here (I know it may be first world problems and you might think “get a grip” but this is a review and it should be an honest review). I think had we arrived further into the season our experience might have been different but we had set this up as a big finish to our South Africa holiday and the edge was taken from it a little bit.
