I was very happy to be offered a huge room on ground floor near the reception as I had heavy lugage with me and most of the rooms are on first level. As Evergreen is an nice old Victoryan style housing there is not lift. The hosts are very nice and I felt well wellcomed.

Spent a few nights here during a stay in SA with my husband and son for a family wedding. We stayed in the adjoining Lodge which is a beautiful old colonial style building - swimming pool right in front of our rooms which had loungers on the patio and not shared by anyone else. . 4 poster bed and chocolates on the pillow, large ensuite, tea/coffee, complementary little decanter of sherry and a personalised welcome letter. Breakfast was taken outside in the garden under an umbrella - usual cereals, juices, cold meats, and cooked breakfast.
French toast with maple syrup was delicious.. Staff were excellent and I could not fault it in any way.

booked for one night came and booked another night. It has old world elegance with high ceilings lots of wood and beautiful thought out touches in the room like a welcome drink a port glass with a miniature glass carafe on a silver platter. The hotel is on a quiet street but 5 mins walk takes you to the restaurants and shops. The staff are helpful with recommendations of where to go. I had such a good time I forgot there was a pandemic. I hope to be back

As a regular traveler to Stellenbosch, I have often stayed at Evergreen Manor and Spa. In January 2021 I recommended Evergreen to a group of friends ( 3 x couples) and we stayed at the Manor for 4 x nights. The bedrooms were very comfortable and tastefully decorated in keeping with the house style, but what impressed all of us the most, was the genuine warmth and friendly hospitality we received from the staff, in particular, Clayton, Barend and Soretha. Nothing was to big or too small for the staff to ensure our 4 x days were absolutely splendid. The house features a lovely pool and garden courtyard which we made full use of. The house is also situated on a quiet side street opposite the Botanical Garden and within easy access of Restaurants and the main village. I can highly recommend Evergreen Manor and Spa.

Had a wonderful stay at Evergreen! Incredibly friendly and hospitable staff who made me feel right at home, a delicious breakfast, and beautiful room. Location is beautiful and serene, and my room was outside next to the pool with a big veranda to sit on. Unfortunately I was there in winter and with rainy weather, but I can imagine it's lovely to sit outside in summer. Evergreen is a few minutes walk from the town centre and down the road from the University's botanical garden, also definitely worth a visit. My room was spacious, very clean, open plan, with a lovely interior of warm colours, wooden furniture, and a beautiful antique cast iron four poster bed. I know other rooms are carpeted, but I personally prefer a tiled floor, so I was very happy to see my room was tiled. I was the only occupant and appreciated the space of open plan room, but also noted that the corner tub was cornered off with a (movable) wooden screen if some privacy would be required, this was a very clever and thoughtful addition to the open plan room. I also liked that the room had a shower in addition to the bath. Many guesthouse towels tend to be thin and old, but Evergreen's towels were very soft and fluffy, a big bonus for me! The French press in the room was a wonderful addition, as I love filter coffee, and the mini fridge was well-stocked with excellent prices. The only point of attention I have is that while the mattress, pillows, and bedding were all very comfortable, the frame itself was quite rickety and moved a lot as I slept. A couple sharing this room might be slightly inconvenienced by this ;) Other than that I only have positive things to say, and it is clear the owners and staff take great pride in Evergreen. I had a wonderful stay and should I ever visit Stellenbosch again, they will be my accommodation of choice.

Dear 890anellr Thank you very much for your comprehensive feedback which is very much appreciated. When our guests tell us how they appreciate what we work hard to offer at Evergreen, it lifts the spirits of the whole team. Thank you also for bringing the frame movement of the antique four-poster bed to our attention. We will give this Victorian Lady some TLC. Kind regards Riel Meynhardt

What a charming warm place. Amazing rooms, I was shown around and I saw serveral individual furnished rooms through Evergreen Manor. Every room has it's own touch. The love they put into these rooms reminded me of the Waldhaus in Sils.
What a wonderful old stylish stay, with old style furniture we would dream of in Europe.

But what did touch me the most was the so friendly employees. Starting with eMails from the reception after booking and with a very personal welcome by Mr. Meynhardt, the owner, till many more services I was glad to receive to the very last day of my stay.

The breakfast with fresh coffee, tea and eggs direct from the kitchen was served with a very big friendly smile just outside the breakfast hall under the sunshade in the lovely courtyard beside the pool. The service was very loving. One can feel that the people love to work for their boss. Congratulation to provide such a workplace.

As for many travellers like me it was the first time in South Africa, the first time in Evergreen Manor and Spa but sure it will not be he last time and I have mentally booked my next stay already for sure.

Thank you Annelize, Nikki, Shaolin, Mary, thank you Berend, Jason, Clayton and Riel, and thank you too the names I forgot. I felt at home.

Except for the night of a really important rugby game (Maties vs Tukkies), it was a very peaceful and quiet location. The manor is a few minutes walk to the old town and all the restaurants etc., and is close to the STIAS conference center. This made it ideal for the purpose of attending a conference.
The rooms were clean and the facilities modern. The room we were in had an amazing Victorian era self-standing wardrobe which was an object lesson in functional carpentry, and made the room stand out from standard issue big-brand hotels which look and feel the same no matter where you are in the world.
Service was friendly and professional. Breakfast had more than adequate selection of buffet and a la carte choices. Extra French-press coffee was provided without quibble. and the setting overlooking the garden patio and swimming pool was pleasant.
I would certainly visit again should I need to stay in Stellenbosch at some future date.

Dear Gerhardct001 Thank you very much for your feedback. Yes, as we are a University Town with Evergreen being so close to all the University, Sport and Restaurant facilities, on the few occasions in the year when there are large student rugby matches, it gets very jolly till late in the evening in the surrounding area. Luckily this happens only a few nights per year. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and also could appreciate the beautiful furniture in your room. We look forward to welcoming you back to Evergreen in future. Kind regards Riel Meynhardt

My stay at Evergreen Manor was simply amazing and nothing of short. During my stay the staff was very hospitable and made my stay very comfortable

I have to note the attention to detail in everything that they do.
The food was well prepared.

I would like to give special thanks to Clayton for making sure that whatever we needed was provided. His friendly and warm attitude surely add to the experience. He is always full of humour and just know how to make one smile.

I shall definitely visit again.

I have now returned a number of times to this great little guest house.
The personnel (Clayton, Saritha, Barend & their teams) are ultra-friendly, helpful, and professional. The rooms are large and well-appointed and spotless with all amenities one may need.
It is a beautiful old building perfectly situated between academia and the tourist hotspot of the central historic old town. Safe, off-street parking, lovely garden, two clean and inviting swimming pools.
Highly recommended!

I recently spent an evening at the beautiful and peaceful Evergreen Manor in Stellenbosch and loved every minute.

The original home was built in 1904 and has been beaqutifully restored and renovated by the current owners. Decor features old furniture, wooden floors and persian carpets, with a beautiful outdoor breakfast area and pool, perfect for a summers day.

Located close enough to allow one to walk in to town, which is a great convenience, our stay at Evergreen was delightful. The staff were friendly and assistive and the rooms large and comfortable.

Highly recommend Evergreen Manor to anyone looking for accommodatiohn with charm in the Stellenbosch area.
