Four star Stellenbosch Guest House Accommodation Perfectly located in the leafy suburb of Universiteits Oord, which is the very heart of this wonderfully charming university town, The Beautiful South is the ideal location for both corporate and leisure guests. We are within walking distance of the historic town center with its extravagant abundance of cafés, restaurants, bars, museums, historical buildings, and antique and art emporiums. Most importantly, we are in the very heart of the Cape Winelands and within close proximity to all of the large number of magnificent wine estates that the region has to offer. Similarly, we are also surrounded by a number of premium golf courses and estates and we are readily able to reserve tee times for golf, and also wine tasting tours if required. Furnished with an eclectic mix of decidedly elegant finishes and sophisticated and traditional Cape Winelands design elements. Swimming Pool at Stellenbosch Guest House More than 30 original and specifically curated works of Stellenbosch artists proudly adorn the walls throughout the property. Our magnificent reclaimed Oregon pine topped breakfast buffets and all of our dining tables were specifically designed and manufactured by local Cape craftsmen. The spectacularly beautiful hand painted floor tiles in the entire ground floor area of the property were also painstakingly completed by local craftsmen over an extensive six week period. Stellenbosch accommodation Breakfast Bar at The Beautiful South Guest House We offer a wonderful outdoor terrace area and garden which features a sparkling swimming pool, large communal dining tables and a fully functional outdoor barbecue facility

My wife and I escaped for a night over the weekend to The Beautiful South in Stellenbosch.
We arrived on a very wintery Cape Town afternoon and we were thankful to be welcomed by Ryan, the Inn Keeper, who had ensured that our room was very toasty, to warm us up.
We were then treated to some complimentary hot coffee, tea and complimentary ‘treats’ in the incredible main Chandelier Room, which had delightful music serenading us in the background.

The next morning, after a very comfortable sleep in 5 star linen and a great shower, we ventured down to breakfast. We chose Eggs Benedict and a hot English breakfast from the menu, which was better than most five star hotels.
After breakfast we said our farewells and were sad to leave to get back to Cape Town, but we will return in the summer when we can make use of the braai area and swimming pool.

A special mention to Ryan as he really went out of his way to ensure a five star service.

The Beautiful South is indeed so aptly named. Beautiful being the best way to describe it.

This was a beautiful thatched house on the outskirts of Stellenbosch about 20 minutes walk from the center of town. The walk is through leafy avenues and perfectly safe both day and night.

The house has a lovely pool and patio area for relaxation and breakfast can be taken inside or outside weather dependant. The breakfast was lovely and very filling.

There is also internet acess in the lounge area which has a TV, not that we watched it. Like most of the B&B's there is an honesty bar which comes in very useful for those cold beers or glases of wine.

Peter and Katrina are lovely friendly hosts and have a wide knowledge of the area to help you with your stay.

Our room was up in the thatched lofts and the room was a good size overlooking the pool. One slight problem was that for this room although it had a private bathroom it was acrss the landing, not a major problem but a bit inconvenient for late night toilet visits.

Beads was a nice resturant in town and the best vineyards we visited was Tokara (free), Simonsig and Delheim the latter had a lovely Pinotage Rose.

Overall very good value for money and a perfect base for the winelands exploration.

We only spent one night at The Beautiful South, but wished we could have spent more. The house was lovely, breakfast delicious, and the owners and staff very friendly. You can walk downtown, but we drove.

Stellenbosch was the last part of our great SA trip. We looked for a cool end of our trip and found in the Tourism Bureau the flyer of The Beautiful South Guest House.

Really cool: For people with little money they have a room called Austin Powers - simlpe but freaky design.

We wanted to have something special, we took an African Room. Not too african, but a bit.

Go there and - dont forget the huge pool.

The Beautiful South, really is beautiful in so many ways.

Welcome
We were made so welcome by our hosts, who suggested some fantastic vineyards to visit and a restaurant where we had the best meal of our trip.

Facilties
The rooms are tastefully decorated, with lovely linens and towels. Beds are comfortable and offered everything we needed. There was a comfortable guest lounge, bar with a wide selection of drinks and cheese platters. The pool, and sun loungers were excellent with pool towels provided.

Breakfast
Was delicious, and served by lovely happy staff. I loved the fact they don't do the traditional bacon and eggs thing, and have a chef's special each day which was a great surprise.

Location
Is the university district of Stellenbosch, but this should no way put you off, it is a lovely walk through tree lined avenues into town.

Overall, it's a great choice to stay in Stellenbosch, we wished we had stayed longer than one night as there was so much to do. Really is highly recommended...Enjoy!

Very clean and tidy B&B with a pleasant host. It is in a good area and we were able to walk in to Stellenbosch (although not if you have your heels on). At breakfast you could have as much as you wanted of fruit ,cerals ,lovely breads, toast and cakes and there was also optional pancakes and bacon. We were only there for one night and did not get chance to try out the pool, as it was also too chilly, but it did look very welcoming. We would also recommend Tokara for lunch or dinner which is on a vineyard in the hills and has spectacular views and excellent food (not cheap but worth it). we also went on the cellar and tasting tour at Berkelders which was great value for money.

my husband, myself and 20 month year old son stayed here for two nights. We loved the beautiful south and like other reviewers, stayed here because of all the good reviews. The guest house didn't disappoint. The owners are very friendly, helpful and give great suggestions, such as what are the best wineries, restaurants and things to do. We stayed in the upstairs Umdeni Suite(the steps can be a little treacherous for small children), which is quite large and has a sitting room with fold out sofa. This was a good choice for us as it gave my super active son more room to run around. The bathroom was very nice with large soaking tub and separate shower.Staff are super friendly. They didn't mind my intrusion into their kitchen to heat up my son's oatmeal. The breakfast is great. Lovely continental spread with homemade bread and a hot item that changes daily. One of the days we were there, we had the avocado dream(roasted tomato with avocado). Yum! We brought our swim suits since the pool was open in late april, but it was just too cold for us. For value, this is one of the best hotels we stayed at. You can't beat the price for value. The only thing is that the guest house is in more suburban stellenbosch and it's easier to get around by car. would definately stay here again. We didn't have time to do this, but the owners organize a tour, where you can visit one of the schools in the local township. Also, there is an honesty bar in the main room, where a fridge is stocked with snacks, wine, etc at a reasonable price.

Absolutely perfect place to stay. Hosts are amazingly welcoming and helpful. The rooms are excellent value for money and the pool / garden is as beautiful as the photo's show. We would happilly have stayed here for a couple of weeks. It's an excellent location for anyone wanting to explore Stellenbosch area / golf trips anything. Cannot rate it highly enough.

A friend and I spent two nights at the Beautiful South. My friend learned of this guest house through other friends. Each room has its own unique theme--mine was a "lion" theme with a huge straw lion head over the bed. The rooms had modern bathroom fixtures and nice linens. Breakfast was held in a central dining room with the other guests. The breakfast food was outstanding. Security was adequate for Stellenbosch. We met some great guests from all corners of the world.

My only complaint was that this property advertises itself as just blocks from downtown Stellenbosch. The reality was we needed to drive to restaurants and stores. While the drive was not long, I would not consider this place to be walking distance to the business district.

Overall, I would recommend this place for the unique, cute ambiance and wonderful breakfast (oh, and a great deal too!)

This guesthouse is centrally located in Stellenbosch, only a 10-15 minutes walk from the center and close to the main routes to various vineyards. My husband & I stayed in the main house, the suite. It was wonderful! It has a separate room so if you have teens, friends, or young children the couch folds into a bed. Love! My husband used it to get work done in the mornings while I slept. The room was consistently cleaned, the AC/Heater worked very well (Cold while I was there!). The bed is incredibly firm, which I appreciated. The internet in the room did work, but surprisingly not as well in the main room/breakfast area.

Breakfast served daily - wonderful bonus! If you sleep in and miss it, the always leave out a little extra in the small fridge next to the drink fridge and there is plenty of fresh fruit. The coffee & tea bar is complimentary and they NEVER ran out of fresh cream/milk.

If you are a light sleeper or have trouble sleeping with new sounds, I recommend downloading a noise app on your phone - rainstorms, waves, white noise, etc - I never had an issue sleeping while here, but the new birds could wake you up earlier than you may like.

The staff was wonderful - friendly & kind! Thank you all!

There is some building work happening across the road although I don't know about the Beautiful South itself. I think for a late arrival, they leave the keys out for you so you'd let yourself into the rooms but I'm not 100% sure. Hope that helps somewhat.
