#2 of 151 in Stellenbosch
Travellers' Choice
If you’re looking for that rare blend of contemporary comfort and old-fashioned hospitality, Summerwood Guesthouse is the perfect base from which to explore the soulful town of Stellenbosch and surrounding winelands. This late-Edwardian grand dame was built in 1904 and has since been creatively renovated to cater for the cosmopolitan tastes of the modern traveller. With its large swimming pool and location in a leafy suburb of Stellenbosch, Summerwood has become the go-to choice for visitors looking for something less formal than a hotel, but more luxurious than your run-of-the-mill guesthouse. The eight spacious rooms boast upmarket finishes and are tastefully decorated in neutral tones, while nice extras like bicycles with which to explore the charming town, air-conditioning, free WiFi, and secure off-street parking make it hard to compete with Summerwood in terms of value for money. This family-run guesthouse is a lush haven for the sophisticated traveller that seamlessly integrates the privacy and comfort of a guesthouse with the professionalism of friendly, efficient service. We are ideally situated in the JSRA Jonkershoek special rates area which provides additional security to the neighbourhood.

This is such a wonderful place to stay set in its own bit of heaven, the bedroom was perfect, the bed so so good, the breakfast off the charts and the welcome and hospitality was so so warm. Hospitality at its best. Thank you Fiona for making our time so very special.

Luxury and hospitality meet at Summerwood! Our family stay was epitomized by the wonderful hospitality and helpfulness we received from Fiona and her staff. They welcomed our family and accommodated us wherever we needed and nothing was too much trouble. Fiona really went the extra mile. The luxurious rooms were a treat - gorgeous linen, aromatic bath products and tea and pod coffee stations (including fresh milk). Breakfasts were delicious.

We looked extensively for the right place to stay in Stellenbosch and stumbled upon this gem. Our stay far exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful, the staff were friendly, and the food was incredible. The only negative was that we had to leave... Thank you, Fiona! We will definitely be back...

The Summerwood Guesthouse is very nice. We were welcomed very nicely and had a great view of the mountains around Stellenbosch in the top room. The bed was very comfortable and the room spacious. The bathroom was very well maintained. The breakfast was prepared individually and was very tasty! In addition, one morning we found a little Easter surprise outside our room door :) The guest house is perfect for exploring the wineries. Very happy we will come again.

From the moment we arrived Fiona made us extremely welcome. Everything was fantastic from the breakfast to the sumptious beds and linens. We stayed for 4 nights and Fiona was very obliging and made reservations for dinner for us at the local restaurants. The bunnies in the gardens were an added bonus. So relaxing watching them. We had the most relaxing time here which was made even better by the excellent hostess. We would definitely recommend this Guest house and would come back here again.
