Detailed Reviews
From arrival we were met with kind and a very warm welcome. Our room was available at 10am after a long over night flight. The room was very large airy and bright with dressing room plus an on suite to die for. The room also had a veranda with sitting area over looking the large garden, lake and vineyards total little bit of heaven. We also used the pool with stunning mountain views vineyard and gardens. The ducks on the pond made us feel so close to nature a very beautiful part of the world.
Its a one stop shop resturant brilliant with very attentive service and great home cooked food with a South African flair. The bar is alfresco over looking the beautiful mountains and vineyards the sun setting here is breath taking. Skilpadvlei serves their own wine which we sampled a few times... delicious.! You can do a wine tour at Skilpadvkei. Cape Town airport is 30 min away. Stellenbosch is about 10mins away and 30 mins away is Strand a lovely sea side resort long stretch of beach with mountain views and loads of resturants to pick from.

Good place to have decent wine for low prices. The biltong is an experience! Dogs are allowed at the wine tasting area but of course - they have to behave. Not in the restaurant - even on the terrace. Very friendly staff.

I’m not a wine drinker yet this was the place chosen for a get together. The outdoor seating was jam packed and it was very noisy, but that didn’t take away the excellent service given by our waitress and the mouth watering gourmet pizzas. Considering how many meals were coming out, we hardly waited long for our food and drinks. Top marks for the location. It was a perfect autumn setting overlooking the vineyards and the mountains.

We love Skilpadvlei. Staff are so warm and welcoming, guest suites are homely and spacious, and the food at the restaurant is delicious, especially their curries and bredies. Breakfast menu is also very inviting. Skilpadvlei Merlot wine also a winner! Thank you Skilpadvlei, you are amongst our favourite destinations in the Winelands!

Booking.com, this time you disappointed us. The images you portrayed for the accommodation we booked and in our booking confirmation were TOTALLY incorrect and NOT the room we were given. I was told by the venue that YOU have not updated your website with the correct images... I blame both yourselves and the accommodation facilities for this false and misleading information. We were given another room, which was just as disappointing but had no further options, so HAD to take it. We chose to upgrade to have a coffee machine in the room, and neither room had this on offer! Unless you call coffee sachets a coffee machine... another false advertising! I will be very interested to see if anyone takes the time to come back to me with an honest reason why you are providing false information. Oh and the view from our room is a car park, lovely! The only positive was the attitude of the staff who really were apologetic, but powerless to make any difference. Sadly, I did not take photos of the original room booked as we walked out of it and went straight to Reception to complain.

Warm white globes would improve the atmosphere in the evenings, could leave bright white globes for the work desk. The mirror window made the room brighter still. Otherwise the room was very comfortable and secure. The gardens were attractive and welcoming. The restaurant was great and staff were friendly.

Went to breakfast the next day and was given the beverage bill before evening drinking the drinks. I attended a wedding as a bridesmaid which meant I was not in the room for 90% of the time. I was called after check out later that day asking if I did something wrong to the wifi, because it was not working. Other than that the room was nice and cozy, the wedding turned out beautifully

We attended a wedding at the property, the event was very good with attentive and very helpful staff.
Accommodations were very nice, and the team from reception to housekeeping were very helpful. We were traveling with a small child and had a lot of requests and everything was attended to quickly and with a big smile.
Big thanks to Mel and Valencia

This was my 3rd stay at Skulpadvlei and everything including the room, facilities and staff were exceptional. This was a busy week night with multiple small year end functions being held at the restaurant and so the service was a touch slow. Having said that though the food and drinks were exceptional. Thank You Skulpadvlei
