This relatively new hotel is amazing! On a quiet street only minutes from the centre of town, it is an oasis of comfort with beautiful spacious rooms with everything you need including a large fridge, and a coffee pod machine. Although my room was next to the road, the double glazing made it very quiet. The hotel itself has a lovely terrace and lounge with 24Hr tea and coffee as well as an honesty bar and a plunge pool. Although there is no restaurant, breakfast is served in a restaurant just next door which also offers dinner but the hotel is also only a stones throw from many excellent restaurants in the town. Very importantly in this time of load shedding, the hotel and restaurant have a generator which means that there is no interruption to power at these times. Had 4 nights there and would have loved to stay for longer. Definitely somewhere I would like to go back to…

Hotel is ok.room is nice.it is bordering a busy road . Currently waiting for the next leaf/nut to drop on the tin roof and keep us awake most of the night! Room should not be let at this time and is expensive so should be better. Couldn’t move us and apologised

This is truly an excellent hotel in Stellenbosch. It is around 1km walk from the main restaurants and bars. The rooms are beautiful and airy, the whole decor of the hotel is delightful and very in keeping with the buildings original purpose. The pool is small but perfectly formed and the pool area is immaculate. The honesty bar is well stocked and a great area to sit in. We had breakfast both mornings and dinner one night at the hotel and all was delicious. I will definitely be returning to this hotel, my o my complaint was I didn’t stay long enough.

This is a small hotel, with a very personal approach to guests. Our room was compact, but featured everything we needed. The adjacent De Volkskombuis serves an exceptional breakfast, and memorable dinner. It's a short walk to Central Stellenbosch, with a huge choice of restaurants and coffee shops. Highly recommended as a base while you explore, or work in Stellenbosch and the surrounding area.

De Wagen is an excellent and stunning venue to stay in Stellenbosch. It is a beautiful hotel with the most friendliest and professional staff, and the food at the restaurant is to die for. Thank you to everyone that made our stay so incredible. I'll be back for my third stay soon

Hint Travel from Franshoek after doing the Vista Hike at Mount Rochelle, into Stellenbosch and you will be greeted by beautiful surroundings before arriving to your destination. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and a refreshing smile from Marcalino with a glass of sherry perfect for a winters day. The check in was quick and efficient, services and amenities explained in detail. Shortly after check in we were escorted to our room by reception, with an in room explanation on how the fire place works along side all the other services the room has to offer. The room ticks all the boxes from fresh feel, stylish design, heater in the bathroom with a separate shower and bath geared up for absolute luxury. The scenery is really beautiful to take a long walk up Dorp Street 200m away from your room. Stunning little restaurants and bars available for a little romantic evening. We enjoyed dinner at the Volkskombuis Restaurant where we dinned in absolute luxury with a fire pit on the go. The ambiance is truly geared up for family and friends or a romantic evening together. Check out was quick and effortless. Definitely the place to stay when touring Stellenbosch perfectly snuggled into the town and close to all wineries.…

We stayed at the hotel on Saturday night and I just want to say the hotel is beautiful, rooms are comfortable, staff are very accommodating and we will certainly recommend to others. The rooms are very comfortable and even though it is close to a busy road, there is no noise in the room

The nicest place I ever stayed, staff so friendly and helpful, room 5-star luxury, "honesty bar" with free tea and coffee next to swimming pool.. In the "old" part of Stellenbosch so picturesque and historical environment but a 5-10 minute walk to full shopping center, also past old buildings. Highly recommended

This new hotel's rooms with the 'farmhouse cocept'and 'worker's quarters' is different but once stayed in, was thoroughly enjoyable. The location with mountain views and sports fields added to the difference. Sitting in the room's little verandah and watching a soccer or rugby game or just taking in the mountain view , lent to the relaxesd atmosphere. Parking directly accross the room was convenient, with the hotel's location just literally around the corner from Dorp Street. The service from all staff was amazing and the cherry-on-top was the gourmet cuisine served at the resident restaurant, De Volkskombuis
