Here at Digteby Estate in Vlottenburg, a residential area in Stellenbosch, a passion for classic luxury with a contemporary flavour is fused with a unique winelands location. The prizewinning architect Hein Visser restored the old manor house brilliantly. The initial design and dimensions of the building were retained and the original walls, roof beams, door-frames, sash windows and solid kiaat doors revive a bygone era. In addition, the spacious farm house with its typical elements from the late Herbert Baker era gained a few magnificent rooms in the large roof area. There are seven en suite bedrooms in this double-story Luxury Country House. Each window offers an unobstructed view of the blue Boland Mountains. A stay in the Wild Mushroom, a uniquely South African guest house, is a visual delight and sensory experience in an exclusive, private environment.

The Wild Mushroom Luxury Country House near SPIER is nestled in a beautiful setting, peaceful and quiet. Warm welcome creates a homely atmosphere. Spacious room with lovely views of Stellenbosch's mountains, sunset and ascent is something to experience. The delicious breakfast is definitely a recommendation.

I would not normally stay over in Stellenbosch but we were attending a wedding and the guesthouse was very conveniently located. It has good parking and security and is quite comfortable. The TV is only open view which in my opinion is barely worth watching that said I was not there to watch TV so not an issue to me. The WiFi worked quite well downstairs, but in our upstairs room it was very poor and intermittent not an issue for me but if you are a child of the internet you probably would not be happy with that. The breakfasts and service were first class and the staff very helpful. A little on the pricey side but I would certainly stay there again. They also have a honesty bar with is a nice touch. A good air-con and very adequate amenities as well. A small bar fridge as well. If I was to complain about anything I would say that the carpets are overdue a clean, but not terrible by any means.

This establishment definitely does not reflect it's status and stars. The carpets is dirty and walked through at a lot of places, there is no dstv channels on tv, only sabc. The swimming pool is half green. The coffee and breakfast was bad (eggs hard and I asked for soft). For the price one pay, there is much better options. Will never return. Ps. Staff was friendly though.

The property is impeccably decorated & comfortable. The pool area is so peaceful & towels provided. The breakfast was is delicious & served by the most courtesy staff , lead by Irene the manager who is wonderful. Also a courtesy bar is a super idea Stellenbosch is a 5 minute drive away and is a charming town. .

The crew was very helpful, polite and always friendly. The location and the view ist perfect. Just two things were in our opinion not that good. The breakfast was always the same, which was a little disappointed. If you stay a short time this is not a problem at all. But we were there for two weeks so we wished the breakfast to be more changeable (maybe buffet). The other thing was the cleanliness. It was good but not as good as could be. In the rooms and in the bathroom there were rugs and carpets. This is not very hygienic. But maybe this is just our problem. Overall it was a very nice stay.

While the hotel is amazing, and the majority of staff outstanding we found the atmosphere a little stark, which is a shame really. Beautiful rooms, beautiful grounds, beautiful vista's, lovely food, lovely staff but everything felt stifled. We live in New Zealand and we just happen to be a black and white couple. We found the whole atmosphere very entertaining. I would like to think when we visit again management would have caught up with times and brought a certain ambiance to this beautiful place. It needs to come alive, with ALL walks of life

Easy to reach from Stellenbosch at a secured estate. Great service from the management. We were without a problem transferred to another room (suite) because the fridge was broken and WiFi not accessible upstairs. A large pool with views over the surrounding areas.

made a reservation for one night, got an upgrade into the bridal suite! ( after almost 40 years of marriage) we liked the place very much and decided to stay another night. No availability, Staff made several phone calls to find us another place. They did a marvelous job! Thanks you so much, Wouter

Service was impeccable! Staff are so friendly and helpful. We were warmly welcomed and had a comfortable stay. There could be a few more two-pin plug points in the room, there was just one. The breakfast was delicious and healthy. Would definitely return!
