We enjoyed our stay in the lovely newish rooms set amongst the vines – the rooms was tastefully decorated, plenty of space and a good modern bathroom.
The bed was firm, the bedding luxurious – a great place to stay. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an additional day – and were so grateful to Michelle for responding to our plea in the middle of the weekend.

Have just returned from a two night break at Clos Malverne. The room we stayed in was absolutely spotless, was beautifully furnished , very spacious and had lovely views over the vineyard. The room had a king sized bed, excellent air conditioning and had a very large en suite bathroom with a great walk in shower. We booked the Lifestyle package which included two nights bed and breakfast, lunch with wine pairing , a couples spa visit and three bottles of wine. Michelle, who organised the reservation for us , was extremely helpful and did everything possible to enhance the experience for us. The food in the restaurant was excellent with plenty of choice and lovely wine choices and the staff were truly welcoming and professional. We intend to make a return visit next month.

Michelle, the host, immediately makes you feel very welcome. The location is very special: beautiful setting in a large vineyard, quiet and gorgeous view. Clos M has rooms next to the owners house and the restaurant. The six guestrooms further down the estate offer more privacy, better view and more space. I would always go for these rooms. Facilities are excellent. Room is absolutely top, excellent beds, large bathroom. Very clean and well maintained. Staff at Malverne is super friendly. English breakfast is served in the restaurant, where Michelle welcomes you every morning. All in all a place to be highly recommended.

We went for the lifestyle special that included accomodation for 2 nights, 2 breakfasts, 1x 3 course wine pairing lunch and a Swedish massage. Excellent value for money, Michelle is an excellent hostess, food and service at the restaurant is also excellent and the spa treatment was heavenly. Clos Malverne has always delivered as far as food and wine go (previous visits) and you will have to look far for better service at this rate.

Really disappointed to have to write this review. We’ve been in S Africa for two weeks and every meal plus service has been excellent. Tonight would have been the same but the wonderful service at Clos that I had read about on trip advisor was sadly lacking.
The restaurant was fairly empty for dinner and there appeared to be two staff on and a manager. After we were seated, we asked for the a la carte menu which took a bit of time to come. We ordered springbok which was beautifully cooked. During the meal our waitress never enquired whether we were happy with our meal, although the manager did in passing. Nobody offered to top up our wine once.
We wanted to order desert but the two staff were too busy setting up for the next day and never looked over once. In the end we had to get up and ask for the menu. The same thing was repeated over the bill.
I really detest when staff are too busy thinking about getting ready for the next guests and not paying attention to the ones who are there.
Stupidly we still left a 12% tip but our waitress didn’t even acknowledge us as we passed her to leave, although again the manager did.
Maybe it was an off night and we were unlucky but as this was the most expensive meal we had had during our trip, it left us very disappointed and I was forced to write this negative review which I very very rarely do. Management need to shake them up!

Can you imagine ...we booked 2 rooms for two nights for the Easter weekend, wine tasting closed , restaurant closed, breakfast in the room ! When asking for a refund, because on top of this we are not allowed to fly ( Belgium) and our flight s are cancelled all because of covid19, CLOS MALVERNE is ignoring our multiple requests for cancellation without penalty . All other hotel bookings (labotessa, marine hotel, fancourt hotel, hunters lodge, de kloof, de compneije...etc )we made for this trip accepted cancellations without any fee . I hope everyone considers this before even thinking of booking this hotel.

The wife and I booked a luxury suite this past weekend and were greeted with a stunning view. The wines are lovely and the food service is top notch. Be aware though, Stellenbosch can get very warm during summer and as such, air conditioning is a requirement.
In the luxury suite we were in, the air con is very badly placed - when you walk in, you get a column of nice and cool air but the centre of the room is very warm still thus night time is very uncomfortable.
Also, if you do happen to do a lunch during summer, we found out that the restaurant does not have air con (they do however have a water cooling system). During our 4 course meal, it's not ideal to be eating delicious food paired with magical wine while having sweat run down your back. When the outside temperature is 39C, air con indoors is very much welcomed.

We stayed here for 2 nights recently and wish we could have stayed for longer. Michelle was so welcoming despite the fact that we arrived much later than expected. The room was spacious, beautifully clean and we loved having the pool right outside. The sparkling wine was a great extra which we enjoyed by the pool. Michelle was very helpful in recommending places to go to eat and explore. We spent a lovely day in Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. Would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful oasis to stay at.

The view was wonderful, the food was very good (venison tartar, & curry chicken). The amount of time it took to get the chicken curry was unacceptable. We waited over 45 between the first course and the second. We were very late to our next wine tasting appointment.

We stayed for 2 nights, Michelle was very welcoming & helpful. Our room was lovely, spacious & close to the pool & restaurant. We couldn't have our cellar tour because its not available at weekends and our wine tasting was done during our meal because there was no other time available. The breakfast is very nice but there's no choice and its the same every day although the view from the restaurant is beautiful. There is just one menu for lunch and dinner and it doesn't change. I would recommend staying here between Tuesday - Friday rather than the weekend.
