Ilzebet was a wonderful host to make us welcome throughout our stay. The modern and stylish guest house, located in a lovely neighborhood, provides all the traveller could hope for: Clean and comfy rooms with fine amenities, a lovely pool area to relax and a quite as lovely rooftop garden area to admire the wonderful surroundings especially at sunset. Highlight of our stay was the superb breakfast served daily - Ilzebet's scones are "to die for"! The guest house is located approx. 20 mins. walk from the city centre, which during day time is fine to walk. At night it is recommended to use taxi service (Uber or Bolt), which works perfectly.

This place is so amazing: perfect service at the same time the team makes you feel at home. To cut a long story short: this is our 4th time that we have returned. Do I need to say more? Here the reasons for our choice: Ilzebeth: she is lovely and caring and every morning makes the best fresh home-made scones I have ever had (sorry to all the grandmas out there). Breakfast is a feast and a bliss: fresh fruits, yoghurt, granola all the way to fresh made eggs and good coffee. Proud: he always has a smile on his face and is there to make your day just a bit better. He represents the great service at Van der Stel. Denise and the rest of the team: everyone has a smile on their face and they are always there to help you. We have seen now all the different rooms. Each room has his special benefit, so don't hesitate to ask Ilzebeth which ones are available. In any case you won't be disappointed. Kids: this time we came with two boys (5 and 8). While the place is quiet and caters more for relaxation seeker, everyone was very welcoming to the boys, The kids loved it a lot, especially the pool. If your kids are noisy and need to run around a lot you might be better off on a wine estate. However, for us, with the kids this place was just perfect.

Although only for one night our recent stay at Van der Stel Manor was thoroughly enjoyable. From the moment we arrived the staff were professional, kind and friendly and made us very welcome indeed. Our room was in the modern part of the property, was contemporary, well equipped and spacious. Early evening drinks in the mature garden (which also includes a pool) were relaxing and enjoyable and once again the service was attentive but discrete. But perhaps the highlight of our short stay was the breakfast in the historic part of the property with everything freshly made including the most wonderful scones. It was all delicious. We left wishing we could have stayed longer.

Rooms were great - everything you need. Ilzebet is a delightful host and Proud is a great asset! We stayed for 2 nights and Ilzebet booked dinner for us on both nights, which was really helpful. The garden and pool area is lovely. A very safe area, easy to get into town and a very short walk to Lanzerac wine estate. Highly recommended stay.
