This guestlodge is a great bargain if finances are stretched. We have business in the region and need great accommodation at budget prices. Crayfish Quarters provided this and more. Being elevated on the hills of Saldanha, there were outstanding views of the lagoon (especially showing off the Cape late sunrises) from the breakfast / lounge area, unfortunately not that great views from the bedrooms on the lower floor. We were spoilt by Lizette the manager - breakfasts, padkos (unrequested but provided with attention to details) even dinners on request. Basic homely fare but delicious and plentiful. Other guests seem to be mainly travelling business people. The owners have other accommodation establishments (not seen) and seem keen and well able to address corporate needs. Very comfortable beds but rooms are a tad small, although quite adequate. We had two rooms, one was ensuite, the other had access to a bathroom across the passage. Full provision of coffee/tea facilities, fresh milk in bar fridge, hairdyer etc but no amenities in bathroom. Good secure parking on site. We intend using this accommodation again when in the area.

They room was wonderful with a view of the ocean and a sliding door that opened straight into the garden. We stayed there for 5 days, and we ordered lunch and dinner daily as part of our stay. The dinners were perfect "boer kos" meals, and the lunches were ok for R30.

The breakfasts were however a let down. There was only bacon served once, on the last day. As an establishment that offers a full English breakfast daily, that was disappointing.

The biggest upset however was Chris. He hit on my girlfriend whenever he saw her, and made her uncomfortable to walk around the house because of it, so we spent most of the time in our room or away from the house. I'm not sure if we would go back or not.

There are also a lot of neighbors with dogs here. I didn't sleep well the few days we were here because of barking dogs at all hours of the night. On day 3 I bought some earplugs and that alleviated the problem. While this is out of the control of the owners, visitors should be aware of the problem.

Very bad after-sales service; breakfast is very bad, they should rather not serve breakfast. Could not have breakfast on the second day as I did not want to share a table with loud-mouthed Chinese who took over our seats as well (and food). Complaints to the owner Chris is just ignored.

We had a very bad experience, from blood in our bar fridge to a blocked shower for the duration of our stay, to our wives being locked up by the hostess that thinks she is qualified to run a bed and breakfast whilst she cannot even fry an egg. We were also accused of being racists because we were complaining about poor service delivery.
