We had booked to take our grandchildren away for a break then COVID hit last March 2020 and we had to postpone the trip.
Blue Bay Resort were extremely fair in permitting an 18 month extension on our booking and deposit as no one knew the extent of the pandemic.
Finally we decided whilst still fairly warm that we would take our booking credit and take our two dogs for the break as the grandkids still had school.
Wow what the resort had done since our previous visit.
All the self catering cottages/bungalows had been renovated with perfectly designed bathrooms with large walk in showers. The kitchens had also been upgraded. The outdoor areas were also greatly improved and the upstairs “patio” great for viewing the whole of Saldanha. The resort provided more than sufficient wood for both the inside fireplace and outdoor Braai.
Our pooches were welcomed and we felt safe for them as the whole unit area is secure. The only downside for animals is the beach where lots of dogs roam off leads , but that’s not the resort’s responsibility.
At night one felt very safe as there was a constant security personnel presence within the complex and surrounding area.
Due to having our dogs we did not eat in the restaurant but from previous experience am sure dining in would also have been great. Instead we ordered takeout from the menu and were not at all disappointed. Meals were delivered to our unit still piping hot and presented as if we were in the dining area , another lovely experience.
All utensils and appliances functioned properly although the TV bouquet was limited but who goes on holiday to watch TV.
The seafront units are the best as you can hear the waves at night and see the lights and sea movements of the ships and surrounding Saldanha.
All staff were extremely helpful as well as being so cheerful during such a horrible time.
All in all a great trip and well worth a visit for anyone wanting a friendly family orientated holiday.
We will definitely return as often as possible.

We had a fabulous women's day weekend away, our unit A7 meters aways from the beach, with stunning views from lounge and 3 rooms

Everything you need and super friendly service from reception by Dalicia to the cleaning staff and management.

Maybe some updates, especially TV and shower which was a bit small and awkward.

But overall an amazing stay, peaceful with great views

Will definitely be back again.

Thanks so much Blouwater bay. My batteries were recharged till next time

We opted for self catering with the understanding that meals are available upon request. However when we enquired, we were told that meals cannot be provided.
The wall heater in bedroom 2 was not working. The staff supplied us with another heater which was also broken. However this was remedied the next day.
There was no hospitality tray available which we thought should be standard for the rather pricy rate per day.
In conclusion, we must compliment you on the comfortable beds and beautiful view. Your establishment has great potential for becoming a highly sought after holiday destination.

Hot water in our room was not working for over a day and staff were less than understanding about it never apologising for any inconvenience. We were told the dinner would be served within 20 minutes of ordering and took almost 2 hours. Will not consider staying here again.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I am very sorry to hear that you had such a terrible experience at our establishment and would like to take the time to apologise for the inconvenience. There was an issue with the geyser in the one section of the hotel caused by Load Shedding. At the time we did not realise in time that our guests had no hot water as we had implemented our back up plan, only to discover upon the complaints the following day that the back up plan had also failed. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and we thank you for your feedback.

Booked in by firm for business stay during project. Full board and we are 10plus personnel living in hotel. So you expect some proper service.
First of all their internet connection is of pathetic standard, you cannot connect online to perform tele conferences. That is IF you do have internet.
Their Breakfast is served ice cold, baked beans straight out of tin and not heated.
They have been told to provide proper food warming devices but to no success. We in a rush to eat in morning and then they come with solution to reheat food in microwave once dished up, totally unhealthy. Just serve the food warm and keep it warm.
Lunchpacks provided to site is substandard to what they charge. It is as if the kitchen staff just don’t care.
They have a pretty view and they think that is their selling point. But no honestly their service really need to be reviewed and their kitchen staff orientated.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review on our establishment. We are aware of the WIFI issues, we have discovered that one of our unifiers are faulty which constantly reboots the internet. Our new unifier should be here tomorrow and installed which should fix the WIFI issue we are experiencing at the hotel. Regarding the meals we appreciate your feedback. We will most certainly discuss these with the F&B operator Blue Bay Café by Tindlovu. Please note they have their own Tripadvisor page and you are welcome to leave your comment on meal experiences on their own page. We will however request feedback and immediate improvement on the various issues that you have mentioned. We are really sorry that this has tarnished your experience with us.

The old rooms (17A, 17B and 18B) should be renovated, especially the bathrooms.
The Menu of food must cater for vegans and vegetarians. The Lodge should consider preparing buffet for dinner especially when the hotel is 70% full. This will reduce the time customers wait for ordered food.
The old lady chef who prepares breakfast should stop being difficult to customers. her service is poor.

The service at reception is excellent and the ladies were so so helpful & friendly. I booked for 2nights but the ladies at reception were so kind & without hesitation extended our stay. I loved the upgraded chalet we were staying in & overall the place was just beautiful. My son enjoyed the park so much, luckily the park was just behind our chalet. The pool facilities were neat and everyone complied to the COVID protocols. The cleaning staff also knocked on our door, to enquire if we needed anything ❤ Thank you Blue Bay Lodge & Resort for making our getaway special ❤🙌 We will definitely return in future

Poor communication from staff. Very disinterested and unperturbed by inconveniencing the customer. Not at all what I expected from viewing the establishment online.

Request for early check in was made online and telephonically. Upon arrival was informed that we would have to wait until 15h30 to check in and was made aware by the employee that it was due to us booking the day before. We were sent to the restaurant to wait where we received no service for almost 30mins. We find out only that evening that the restaurant was closed for dinner and that we should travel to Langebaan for food. We tried the restaurant for breakfast which was slow and insufficient. We did receive an apology however from the nice lady that she doesnt work there and is only helping out. After mentioning that we had just been married that weekend and we were coming to relax for two days and use the establishments facilities, we would have thought some consideration would have been made to accommodate us just in the normal manner in which a hotel/lodge would normally do.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. Your reservation was a same day booking so it was made online at 10am on our system and you requested a check in for 11am in a three bedroom house on a Monday morning. Our usual check-in time is at 2pm and because the house first needed to be cleaned and sanitized we said that we couldn't give you an early check in and recommended that you waited in the restaurant area. When we asked if you wanted to order anything in the restaurant you said to the reservationist that you didn't, hence why no one initially came to give you any service in the restaurant as the restaurant staff were told that you were just waiting for your room to be ready. Upon check-in you were also explained that our restaurant was closed Monday and Tuesday evenings and given a little card with all the restaurant times on. So we are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay here with us, as you can see from prior reviews we are renowned and pride ourselves in our outstanding customer service. We are happy to say that at least our restaurant facilities are open again on a daily basis and after the terrible knock that COVID has given the hospitality industry we can now operate a hotel/lodge like we normally would.

Blue bay lodge was lovely to stay in overnight as we went up the coast to see the spring flowers .
Very clean , comfortable bed, and well equipped.
We loved overlooking the bay and watching the seagulls .

We enjoyed a peaceful stay in one of the cottages. The staff welcoming us were friendly and efficient. Cleaning staff called in each day to see if there was anything we needed but we were happy to do our own daily chores during this Covid time.

We noted that some cottages had been renovated - our one hadn't yet. One challenge was the state of the stove (very rusty plates) and the fact that it kept tripping if we used the oven plus one plate. We worked with this creatively!! In terms of kitchenware we would laos have appreciated a few more bigger bowls for serving and out morning porridge!
