Our self-catering cottages are a popular choice for Honeymooners, lovers, and nature lovers. Peaceful and very private timber chalets with awesome views of Knysna forest and the Outeniqua mountains, yet only 15 minutes from Knysna town. The Knysna Forest in one direction and the beach in the other direction, also about 15 minutes away.
We stayed in Cliffedge cottage for 3 magical days and nights. The photos don't do it justice. The unassuming exterior, a wooden hut, opens up to the most spectacular views as you enter. For a moment we felt like we were floating above a forest valley. This was just the beginning of an unforgettable stay. Not only was our little temporary home cozy and spotless, but the attention to detail, was in a class of its own. The shower, which had a large window with a view to the forest, came with it's own window wiper so that we could clear the steam off the glass and appreciate the view whilst showering. The cozy fireplace had pieces of wood ready to be lit. There was wifi and a t.v which even came with a small USB drive loaded with movies. The toaster had a pair of toast tongs so we wouldn't burn our fingers when removing our crunchy pieces of morning toast. The balcony was equipped with a comfortable couch on wheels, which proved very useful in the afternoon sun. An ingenious bird watering bowl was attached to the balcony which allowed guests to fill the bird bath in the lower garden from the comfort of the balcony. I can't say enough about the spectacular views at sunset and sunrise. My only complaint is that this might in fact, be the best cottage we've ever stayed in, and it's going to be difficult for us to find another cottage that's up to par. Thank you Ingrid and Barry. We just needed to clear our heads a little after lockdown, and Cliffhanger was absolutely perfect. It is spotlessly clean and all COVID-19 regulations are met. The cottage is so well appointed that you don't have to leave at all if you don't want to. If you do, nothing is too far away. The kitchen is well equipped and perfect for preparing your own meals. They have both an aircon in the bedroom and a fireplace in the lounge area so all weather is catered for. The pure tranquillity and the beautiful views are exactly what we needed. The bird life is amazing. We would highly recommend Cliffhanger and would not hesitate to go back ourselves. Thank you Barry and Ingrid for a wonderful weekend.

Lovely quiet getaway high up on the hillside overlooking pure forest. The unit is completely off-grid with it's own filtered rain water and electricity. Everything was very neat inside the unit and you can tell that Ingrid puts in care and attention to detail. In summer it can get very hot but luckily there is an air conditioner and fan. All in all a lovely stay!

We stayed only for two nights and enjoyed every second. The location is close to Totties Market that’s open on Sundays - they have a great Sunday lunch. We walked the Circles in the Forrest route and did the 9km route followed by a swim at the Jubilee Creek. What a wonderful stay we had. Before we arrived Ingrid (the owner) phoned us to make sure we are OK and also checked in when we arrived with advice on things to do. Thank you Barry and Ingrid, you have a beautiful location and fantastic cottages to stay in!!

We stayed in the Cliff Edge cottage for 4 nights in early April. The cottage faces north so there is plenty sunlight from sun rise to sun set and the view is spectacular any time of day.
The layout of the cottage is perfect because you can lie in bed with your morning coffee and watch the forest below you breathe into life. The facilities in the cottage are excellent and 'load shedding friendly' with the gas stove. Just make a note there is no oven in Cliff Edge, but there is a stove, microwave and a very nice braai.
Location wise, Cliffhanger Cottages is about 10 mins outside Knysna, so a trip into town to do a bit of shopping or go to a restaurant is easy.
Barry & Ingrid are great hosts and their space is stunning. We will most definitely be back.

We stayed at the Cliffhanger cottage as part of or honeymoon and we were just blown away by the amazing view from the cottage - pictures do not do it enough justice! The cottage was very neat and well maintained with everything you may need during a self catering stay. The view is spectacular from every room in this cottage and the recently added hot tub was such a treat for our honeymoon stay. Definitely the best hot tub view in the country! Ingrid and Barry were great hosts and were very accommodating to changes in our travel plans. There is lots to do in the nearby area but you might not want to leave the cottage at all! Our stay was so comfy and our 2 nights was way too short! Can't wait to be back :)

This was one of the most spectacular and incredible places we have been to! Exactly what we needed on our honeymoon. The cottage was superbly decorated and immaculate presented, totally private with amazing views over the tree canopies of the forest. The host Ingrid was so accommodating and made us feel so welcome, also advised us on hikes in the area which we went on and loved. Ingrid also recommended the ladies that came to the cottage to perform a aromatherapy couples massage, an experience like no other! A few days of absolute perfection!

We had a wonderful two day stay at Cliffhanger. So peaceful with wonderful views. Spotlessly clean with a wonderful bed and linen. Lots of lovely personal touches in the cottage. Great place to relax and unwind. We also enjoyed stocking up in the local farm mini market just 1km up the road which is a real little gem. Lots to do in this beautiful valley.

We're very lucky to have Portland Mini Mart just up the road for most groceries and even a small butchery for those that choose to eat meat. The forest 10 minutes in one direction, the beach in the other and town in yet another direction -we consider ourselves to be "in the centre".

We stayed in the "cliffhanger cottage" on the property and it was a quiet sanctuary. This place is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway and is a great way to unwind and kickback from the busy city life. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, braaing every night and breathing in the breathtaking views from all the windows in the cottage. I would strongly recommend this place

This is honestly one of our favorite getaways in the Garden Route area. Very private, clean, neat and the best view to wake up to.
It is close to Brenton-on-Sea and I highly recommend visiting the Butterfly Blu restaurant!
