Both the property and the hospitality are exceptional. We started our tour of South Africa here and enjoyed it so much that we decided to end our holiday with a return visit. We arrived in Cape Town minus our luggage and Mariette the host offered to go to the local shopping mall to buy us some essentials while we settled into our room. The house has a romantic theme and on Valentine’s evening we were struggling to make a reservation for dinner so the garden was lit up for us to eat at the house. We had a beautiful evening. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and comfort and cleanliness were outstanding. We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast each morning and the food was tasty and varied. The pool and air conditioning were welcome treats after our day trips around the area as it was exceptionally hot during each of our visits. Recommendations on where to eat and places to visit were a great help. Not to be missed is the cheetah rehabilitation centre, Waterford winery, the drive up Bain's Kloof Pass, as well as towns like Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. We would love to visit again and I am sure that if you book you will fall in love with this place just as we did.

We went with 3 generations of the same family (15 people). The house suited us perfectly. The bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen spacious and well equipped, the 1692 house was characterful and well furnished, the outdoor space large and well appointed with dining tables under the vines next to the swimming pool with spectacular views of the mountains in the background, and lots of lawns in which the children could play. The property is secure and beautifully situated amongst the vineyards. The staff were excellent and helpful and attended every morning.

BREATHTAKING… the first word that comes to mind when trying to explain the stupendous de Kleijne Bos Country House. Our stay was amazing from the minute we rode in, with the first glimpse of the beautiful old Cape Dutch Country House and the bewildering Drakenstein mountain in the wine land valley behind, was a priceless spectacle we had the privilege of living for four days.
Welcomed by a true architectural miracle as you walk in by the front door, as the house is furnished with beautiful antiques and if that wasn’t enough, the staff were friendly and professional going out of their way to make our stay “WORLD CLASS”. The rooms were home away from home although a peek out the window had one thinking you were on an unflawed oversees trip.
The Breakfast outside under the shadow of the Drakenstein mountain between the grape vine was phenomenal and something I could definitely get used too. A big thumbs up to all the Chefs, waiters all the staff involved and a special mention to Buddy & Cora Smit(the owners & truly amazing people) for making our stay 5*. Will be back soon!!!

We absolutely loved everything about our stay! Mariette welcomed us very warmly and check-in was a breeze. Our rooms were quaint and comfortable, but it was the almost private lounge with its huge fireplace that clinched it for us. We sipped complimentary sherry from crystal glasses enjoying the ambience of a roaring fire surrounded by beautiful antiques and paintings. We admired the old solid beams in the lounge ceiling and enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the dining room. Beautifully appointed with a stunning backdrop and oh so civilised!

We had a groupon voucher to stay at this amazing Country House for 1 night only but we enjoyed every moment. The staff was extremely friendly and the views breathtaking and relaxing. Every part of our short stay was amazing and we were so sad to leave. Our Luxury room was to die for. Saying it's beautiful is an understatement. Everything is so neat and tidy. I can not fault anything except that it would be a good idea to put a billboard or any indication as to where you are situated in the roads that lead to your premises. We struggled a bit to find you but other that 10 OUT OF 10. Thank you for the service you gave us. It is very rare these days but you surprised us in every way. We are definitely coming back!

We spend the afternoon on a cold winters day next to the fireplace with a glass of wine after being welcomed by a very friendly host. The house was cosy and the farm has the most beautiful view of the mountain. We would have liked to spend the night. Unfortunately it was fully booked but on out next trip to Cape Town we will make sure we book in advance.

We really enjoyed our stay, beautiful, calm, peaceful and very close to other attractions in the area. We arrived at midnight and the host/owner was so friendly and accommodating, our 14 month old son was with us and they arranged a camping cot for him that was ready when we arrived. The staff was very friendly and the service from everybody was excellent. Very nice rooms and great breakfast !! Loved the place.
