This was probably my seventh or so guesthouse visit and I absolutely love my guesthouse getaways. I must say what made this so exceptional was the stunning exterior beauty that enclosed the building itself. I just couldn't take enough pics. Last year I was at a GH just outside Hermanus at a retirement village in Onrus and it was absolutely lovely. However Auberge De Courtrai has now taken that top spot -which I didn't think would be this soon. Showed some friends a couple pics and video and they were in awe. One said you'd swear it was the Carribean with the palm trees playing in the winds (amplified by the quiet surrounds). Not forgeting the attractive interior which I would have liked more time to relax and chill, especially in the evening. Thank you very much Zettie and also thank you to the lady that checked up to see if I was good throughout my stay. Definately coming back and recommending this to people. Thank you once again. Very pleasant stay and peaceful environment. Very much needed after traveling long distances on very busy roads. I especially were impressed with the trees and garden in your property and you made us feel very welcomed.

Stayed at Guesthouse overnight while on business in local area. Really expected a lot more for a 4 star grading. Receptionist greeted us but was confused about our reservation, when we confirmed it. We were meet with a smirking remark "O, you the people that want Dinner and Lunch packs" If it was going to be an effort, then don't over the service and we can get it elsewhere. Dinner - No menu, merely a plate of food wrapping in plastic, prepared who knows when, heated in a microwave, no soft drinks offered, but, a jug of Apple juice. Shocking. 4 Star, Really!!! Room, normal nothing special. O, yes don't forget the TV from the 80's and limited channels, haha if SABC 1, 2, 3 and a movie channel. 4 Star, Really!!! Can't comment on staff, didn't see anyone else besides the receptionist or was she the domestic worker or maybe the chef no maybe waiter or maintenance, don't know!!! I can't comment on breakfast, wasn't going to chance it with the star rating, rather opted for a local venue in town for breakfast. Might stay here again when the place gets a 7/8 ??? Star rating. Only Joking, won't be coming back or recommending establishment.…

Hospitality, friendliness, helpful, etc. What a joy to have stayed there. The owner went out of her way to direct and assist us. Lovely quite room with outside little terrace facing garden and pool area.

I Stayed at Auberge a few years ago and when my husband said we needed a break before the Christmas madness, I didn't need to think twice. This B&B never disappoints, the beautiful rooms, amazing views and breakfast is legendary in the region. Any guest will feel at home.Zettie and her staff are lovely. The friendly conversations from people all over the globe in their tastefully decorated breakfast room makes me smile. If you are looking for a guesthouse with breath taking views, sparkly clean rooms, tranquility and top notch service, this is the place for you!

For most of my week in Paarl, I stayed at the Lemoenkloof and my colleagues stayed at the Auberge de Courtrai. Every morning, without fail, they would complain about their terrible experience. When our schedule changed and I also had to stay here, I was expecting the worst. I was fortunate in that my stay was relatively uneventful. There were no guests shouting late into the night, the smell of curry was not wafting under the door, and there was no lack of hot water -- all things that my coworkers had experienced just days earlier. That said, I could see why these issues could be such a problem. This building was intended to be a large house, and the soundproofing is abysmal. I could literally hear a bottle cap drop on the floor downstairs. What I did find was a house that smelled vaguely of dog (the owner has one) and a dingy room with obvious signs of wear. The internet never worked while I was there. Most distressing was that I woke up with an allergic reaction -- my eyes were red and itchy -- which rarely happens, and wasn't experienced at any other point during my trip. I am not a B&B person and probably overlooked any charming touches that could have delighted others. Still, if you need a quiet and clean room, I'd advise looking elsewhere.…

As my partner and I were not there during the day, the time that we spent there was enjoyable. Friendly staff, good breakfast and lovely bedrooms. A lovely place to stay for a night or 2. Would recommend it!

We were greeted by friendly staff who were very helpful, besides that everything else was average. Very small bed with aged linen, Dirty curtains which included a cockroach on them, having to park outside due to lack of parking space on the first night and our bedroom wasn't made up the next day are the problems we encountered. When I arrived I saw they rated as a 4 star accommodation but when I left I wondered how they got this or how old the rating was.

We spent 4 nights at this venue as we also had to attend a family wedding on 23 August 2014. Our rooms were clean, cosy and comfortable. Apart from one cold breakfast our stay was fab and the dinner on the first night was excellent. Zettie is an excellent hostess making us feel truly at home. Her staff Martha and Lucia were also very friendly and helpful during our stay. Thank you Zettie, will definitely return!

We spent two nights with the family at this venue to celebrate our son's wedding on 23 August 2013. The venue is rated 4 stars, but in some instances the 4 star rating is questionable. The bedding is a bit jaded and the bed not very comfortable. Toiletries are not provided and breakfast was served cold. The stay with all our family made up for for everything and Zettie provided an excellent dinner the first night. In all we had a very memorable stay at Auberge de Courtrai.
