Nice farm with friendly owners.
Neat rooms for a fair price, dinner was also very well prepared and in the evening the outdoor fire was lit so that we could enjoy the delicious wines from Paarl. we also got a tour with an explanation about the fruit farm and the homemade fire trucks.
Definitely an address to come back to.

We stayed for five nights, two families with children between 10 and 17. Very nice place and fantastic staff / owners. Food and drinks were very good but quite expensive, especially dinner considering that it was the same price for children. Great service and support for things to do in the area. Very good wine tasting tour to the farms around Paarl. Nice pool area for the whole family.

Top rate self catering unit - everything and more available to make our stay comfortable. Friendly staff with Dutch / Boland hospitality at its best!
Unit was quiet, super clean, with lots of space. Our children had sports tournaments around Paarl, and the access roads to the schools in the centre of town are very user friendly, even during peak traffic times. I had a nice jog around the farm, and surrounding vineyards. Will definitely stay at De Leeuwenhof estate again when we have to visit Paarl.

We booked on the day and arrived during a power outage so were not expected but were received graciously enough. The room was very basic, painted concrete floors, television attached to cupboard, linen on bed too minimal (only bottom sheet and duvet ( in the middle of summer!) a top sheet would have been appreciated as well as bigger and thicker towels. We opted to have the set evening 3 course meal which was tasty but not worth the R395 per person. The breakfast was also very average with hard cereals, limited bread options and difficulty obtaining a cup of tea. The staff however were friendly and kind.

Response from deleeuwenhof, General Manager at De Leeuwenhof Estate
Responded 18 Feb 2020
Dear Larry, Thank you for your review and we apologize for the inconvinience our Countries loadshedding has caused you. We endevour ouselves to make guest as happy as possible and we are certainly not in the business to perform to get unhappy reports. We are pleased the staff rating was very positive as it should. We understand that when the welcome is not as expected or the host was not aware of your booking, one becomes very critical of all the rest. To be honest, for us it is also very anoying . South Africa has a power problem due to bad management and therefore occasionally parts of the country or area are taken of the grid for hours in a row and sometimes multiple times a day. You have felt the bourdon by not having tea in time and limited bread options, as during power outages, we must use alternative methods or present alternatives for fresh products.. The aircons do not work, the oven does not produce fresh backed bread and coffie must also be made by hand. We do have a generator for emergency systems, but with 40 degrees celcius (which it was during your stay,), systems overheat due to demand... The linnen issue is a matter of addressing it with reception...the one person likes thick duvets and sleeps with the aircon on 15 and the other likes a thin one with the window open....we invite all guests, to tell us how they want it and we change it accordingly. We will try to do our very best to sail the storm of loadshedding and we apologize again, if mails do not get answered straight away or sameday bookings are not received and/or excecuted. our telephone lines are also dead when the power is off, but we have a cellphone option as well, which is always mentioned in the order confirmation. We hope you have a better experience next time. Kind regards, Daan van Leeuwen Boomkamp

We stayed with a party of 12 friends and took over 6 rooms in the stable block. All our party loved their stay, and we ate in the restaurant every night. The family and staff were very friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed a farm tour and bbq in the evening. Highly recommend, we would stay again

Dear Family Richards, We thank you for your very positive review. We loved having you with us . We see you enjoyed our historic farm tour and barbeque evening, where all guests sit around the big fire place and we cook for them. The stable rooms are next to one anaother and loved by small groups. The rooms overlook the garden and each one has a small terrace. We enjoyed your stay as well and we look forward having you with us again. regards, Daan van Leeuwen Boomkamp

We did a self-catering option. The kitchen was well equipped and they were prepared with emergency lights in the chalet for the dreaded power outages during that time. All the rooms were well maintained and clean, with all you needed and a request away if you needed something specific. Beautiful gardens with a residential owl, thriving squirrel community, many birds. The chickens also came to say hello under the watchful eye of the rooster! The solar heated pool was an added bonus and a welcome bonus. Very friendly staff who felt like family. So peaceful just on the edge of the town. For us there was no negative, just a great stay. Will definitely suggest a stay if you want a restfull place to stay, with friendly hosts and good vibe.

The estate is lovely with tall trees and much greenery for a peaceful and restful stay. The rooms are well appointed, some set in historic buildings creating extra charm. Daan and the family are very hospitable and have a vast knowledge of the local area. We had a wonderful experience and hope to visit again in the future.

Beautiful quiet setting with tastefully decorated large rooms and good amenities. Nice cosy communal room with log fire, right next to the pretty swimming pool area and terrace which would be lovely in warmer months. The staff were really helpful and hospitable lighting the fire for us and suggesting great places to eat in the evening which were only a 10 minute drive away. Breakfast was served in the communal room - a full English, well cooked and plenty of it!

Dear Peter, Thank you for your request and we are very easy to find from the Cape-Town Airport and the roads are in perfect order. From the cape-Town airport exit go straight for 900 mtrs and take direction to summerset west left. Follow this road until you see the sign "R300 bellville" and take this exit and keep on the R300 untill you see Paarl sign-posted and take this direction. You are now on the N1 Pass the city of Paarl over the N1 and take exit 62a "sonstraal road" and at the crossing turn left, cross two 4-way stops straight and see the signs "de Leeuwenhof guesthouse". Our neighbours are Palmiet Valley estate and we are on the same entrance road ( this is a tar road and we are at the end of it ). The whole route from the airport to us takes about 50 km and 40 min per car. on our web-site we have a map and even more detailed discription all under the header "directions& Maps" kind regards De Leeuwenhof Management Team.
