Thank you Daan and team for a wonderful weekend stay. You were the perfect hosts and your recommendations were fantastic! Great location close to local attractions in a very quiet and picturesque area of Paarl. Cosy accommodation and all the facilities you would require. We will definitely be back and will recommend to anyone waiting to stay in the area. Thank you again, Hannah & Adam
I stayed 1 night for a wedding, it was very comfortable and very relaxing and the breakfast was amazing. I will come back for a couple of days again and do more wine tasting and chill by the pool and have a braai
This review is long overdue. Our original booking at the estate was for 4 nights - a relaxing bridging stay before returning to our home overseas. 4 days of rest, relaxation and exploring the beautiful surrounds turned into 12 days of rest, spoils, memories for life, inspiration and the most incredible hospitality at this family run estate. I am South African. My husband American. We live and work on the Indian sub-continent. Work and family travel has afforded us tremendous travel opportunities, and we have yet to enjoy a stay as much as we have a De Leeuwenhof - for a number of reasons: Hospitality. Hospitality. Hospitality. We were always greeted with a warm, kind smile. Daan and his family always made time to talk with us, guide us, make suggestions, and share life and community stories in the valley that they clearly love very much. Our accommodation was clean and comfortable and made all the more special knowing that Daan and Stefan built much of the property extension themselves. Breakfasts on the porch next to the pool were long, lazy, fresh and delicious. The area is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Best value for money. 10 out of 10. Over the 12 days we came to know Daan, Anthea and Stefan as very warm, caring people who are actively involved in the community. Daan leads the voluntary fire bridge. Hosts and staff add a lot to the experience. We were so honoured to be made to feel like family over the festive season. Expectations exceeded. Our stay was relaxing and genuine - the family is so kind and so trusting - and without being in your space, they are always available and eager to please. And to top it all, they put a wedding together for my sister and brother-in-law with 24 hours' notice. Thank you Daan, Anthea and Stefan - Tim and I wish you, your loved ones and the staff, the very best for 2022 and beyond. Warmest regards from the Indian sub-continent.…
Stayed for one night very friendly staff owners are very nice people Rooms are comfortable but average.Dining area is nice .we only had breakfast, meal is ok.Good stay for an overnight stay for onward travels
The estate is lovely with tall trees and much greenery for a peaceful and restful stay. The rooms are well appointed, some set in historic buildings creating extra charm. Daan and the family are very hospitable and have a vast knowledge of the local area. We had a wonderful experience and hope to visit again in the future.
Very friendly and helpful hosts. The cottage was very well equipped with comfy furniture in living room, Nespresso machine, good bed. A TV in bedroom and living room as well! The shower was great. Lovely huge pool, beautiful gardens. Kitchen was OK.
Everything was neat and tidy, definitely a place you can go to switch off. You can enjoy beautiful views and a lovely breakfast at the pool. This place has so much more to offer than what they advertised for. Daan is an exceptional host.
De Leeuwenhof offers very spacious rooms/apartments - well equipped and very comfortable. The owners and their staff are extremely friendly and helpful and try to accommodate the guests' wishes. I liked particularly the atmosphere: as a guest you almost feel like being part of the farm and the family.
We did a self-catering option. The kitchen was well equipped and they were prepared with emergency lights in the chalet for the dreaded power outages during that time. All the rooms were well maintained and clean, with all you needed and a request away if you needed something specific. Beautiful gardens with a residential owl, thriving squirrel community, many birds. The chickens also came to say hello under the watchful eye of the rooster! The solar heated pool was an added bonus and a welcome bonus. Very friendly staff who felt like family. So peaceful just on the edge of the town. For us there was no negative, just a great stay. Will definitely suggest a stay if you want a restfull place to stay, with friendly hosts and good vibe.
Thank you to Daan, and his staff incredible accommodation. Really good hosts and special place to stay. We looking forward to visiting again next year. Staff helpful, beautiful part of the world. Easy access to all areas around Paarl.
