We arrived and were allocated the Flemish room with a lovely verandah and outlook over the mountains and city.
We met Katherine and her team and they couldn't have been more welcoming and accomodating. The pool is lovely with such a position and 10 quality and comfortable sunbeds for the 5 rooms in the guest house. The water was warm and fed from the waterfall on Paarl rocks just beyond the hill. Everyone staying here were so relaxed and friendly and we soon met new friends and have many interesting conversations.
Breakfast was served on the patio and was a basic choice of cold items or bacon and egg option.
Just to note the location is on a hillside and the road up to it is steep and not really suitable to walk. We had a small car but Ubers were easy to get for trips into Paarl in the evening. It's worth pre booking a return Uber as it was busy at 10pm when we were returning and it's worth the little bit extra for a reserved car.
We recommend a visit to Parle du cap and will be returning ourselves soon.

Very friendly host. Rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. Bar fridge, small microwave and some cutlery and crockery also in the room. Small safe to lock away valuables. Lovely view of Paarl mountains. Close to good restaurants and wineries.

We found this absolute gem
purely by chance but will definitely make a date to go back. A very friendly and warm welcome. The room we stayed in was warm, spacious with a big bathroom and lovely gowns and towels. Great patio with beautiful views of the town. The breakfast was delicious too!

It is not such a prime location for tourists as Stellenbosch or Franschhoek and the journey is a bit far (but Nederburg nearby) and the approach to the house very steep but the room itself is very good and the view from the terrace or the pool outstanding.

Perle-du-Cap offers a solid solution - but nothing special - for your stay in Paarl for a few days. Some details:

Villiera room
We had booked the Villiera room directly with Kristien (not via booking.com or similar). Unfortunately we ended up in the rather uncomfortable situation that the room was already in use when we arrived. Not nice when all rooms in a boutique b+b are unique. We had to insist on getting the room we had reserved and the other guests were moved to another room. A bad start...
Villiera has a spectacular corner window, a balcony (with pcturesque, but uncomfortable chairs) and all the basics: Safe, hairdryer, TV (didn't test), fridge/minibar and a large bathroom (not 100% toilet privacy, lacking a door to close).

Sleep quality
Good mattress and pillows, fairly effective curtains. Quiet neighborhood. We didn't test the aircon, the location of the room makes it easy and safe to sleep with open windows.

Surroundings
The pool area has a magnificent view over the valley and most of the time a mild breeze coming up the hill. Note that the owner + children can be present.
The distance (horisontal and vertical) from Paarls interesting restaurants is too big to walk. The solution is the local taxi service - a return trip to Noop approx. 3.5 km away cost 90-140 (for example using Marius 0027 796 757 49).
Parking, arriving and leaving Perle-du-Cap is somewhat challenging when you're not used to steep hills at slow speed. But you'll learn :o)

Breakfast
Breakfast is served with a view over Paarl valley and the food is ok. You can get your cereals, yoghurt, fruit, eggs, bread, cheeses and coldcuts. So it's definitely good though not outstanding.

Wifi
In the Villiera room the wifi connection is poor, unstable and slow.

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights in December 2014 and wished we could have stayed longer. Beautiful views of the Paarl valley, lovely room and friendly staff. Kristien greeted us and recommended an excellent local restaurant. Our breakfast experiences were very good with attentive service and great food. We had the corner Twin Suite with doors onto the terrace and infinity pool. This suite has an open plan ensuite, so if that is a concern, you may want to book a different room. Note that the pools in SA are rarely heated, so you do need a hot day to get in and enjoy. We were able to park within the gate and appreciated being able to come/go with the gate remote. Lovely, quiet stay!

Thank you Kristien and your team for a lovely weekend. What a find and what a lovely place. Top of the mountain with views over the Paarl valley lying on a sun chair next to a never ending pool which was the prefect temperature at all times of the day. What a pleasure it was. Lovely breakfasts next to a natural waterfall, with smiling staff helping you with whatever you want. The rooms were fantastic with comfy beds and nice spacious bedrooms with all necessary items there for you. The only downfall of the rooms which we stayed in, next to the pool was the lack of windows and privacy if one opened your door to get air in as it was the walkway from the car park to the rest of the rooms. But apart from that a fantstic little place on the top of the hill with everything you could want. Will most definitely return. Thanks for a great weekend.

This wasn't an issue at all. I'm not sure what the other rooms look like but ours was big enough that we still felt like we had privacy. A minor thing. Hardly a problem. You will love it!
