AfriCamps is all about glamping at the most beautiful working farms, estates, and reserves in South Africa. At each of our locations, you can get closer to nature without compromising on the creature comforts of home. Enjoy everything from hiking to hammocking, from seclusion in nature to romantic escapes, from family getaways to merry chaos with friends. The AfriCamps glamping concept offers guests the freedom and flexibility of a self-drive holiday, the closeness to nature of a camping trip, and the luxury and convenience of a beautiful self-catering unit. Set on one of the biggest working ostrich farms in South Africa, AfriCamps Klein Karoo is one to experience. Five self-catering boutique glamping tents are positioned around a big water dam that is surrounded by free-roaming game like zebra, springbok, blue wildebeest, kudu, impala, eland, waterbuck, and nyala. Located only a 10-minute drive from Oudtshoorn centre, in the middle of a pristine Karoo landscape with direct views on the Swartberg Mountains, AfriCamps Klein Karoo offers you the perfect backdrop to relax in the tranquil surroundings of this serene majestic farm. Each AfriCamps tent consists of a spacious open plan lounge area with a comfortable couch, a dining area with a solid wooden table and seating for five guests, a fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms that comfortably sleeps five guests and a bathroom complete with a hot shower, flushing toilet and washbasin. Both bedrooms are furnished with a queen-size bed and have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy. One of the bedrooms also contains a single bunk bed. Our tents are equipped with air-conditioning and an indoor fireplace. Enjoy a braai on our spacious wooden decks and take in the views from the comfortable deck loungers. Pull up the front covers and transform the tent into a large outdoor living area. Unwind and appreciate a festive family breakfast while taking in the serene natural beauty of the South African landscape.

The check—in process is smooth and contactless. From the moment you arrive you can start enjoying the lovely views from the tent’s wooden deck, surrounded by small wildlife. There is a braai area on the deck and sunsets that makes you want to take lots of photos. The fridge is quite small and if you are travelling as a family you might struggle to fit more than 1 day’s supplies in it. The bedding is very basic and reminds more of camping than glamping. Tap water is not save for drinking according to the receptionist, but you can get filtered water from reception for free. The aircon in the tents is great. There is a small communal swimming pool with chairs and umbrellas to cool off from the Karoo heat. Overall it is a nice experience in beautiful surroundings.

Peaceful glamping with nature.
This was a last minute booking and a great find…!
My husband saw this advertised when most of our trip was already booked and planned but we made a last minute change to spend one night here, and it was our favourite of all!
Our accommodation was exactly as the website said. Tents fully equipped with all you need for a comfortable night under canvas. There was a rustic but perfectly functioning kitchen area with gas stove, microwave, and toaster, plenty of pots and pans, and a small supply of tea and coffee, including 2 bottles of water already cooling in the fridge. Our tent had a large shower and toilet, and included a log burner, air con, eating and lounge area that opened out on to a decking area with your own BBQ. Everything was lovely and clean. We purchased a few supplies from the local supermarket before we arrived, including coals for the BBQ, but our hosts supplied fire lighters.
We were in tent 10 which overlooked the small lake and as we were slightly elevated I think we had a better view.
The pool area was a little basic and had just enough chairs for all, with towels provided, however you could get cold drinks and relax in the 39 degree heat!
We BBQ’d and watched the sun set, and then star gazed until we found the ‘Southern Star’ only visible in the Southern hemisphere..!
I got up at sunrise and sat on the veranda watching the impala walk around the lake, listening to the wildlife and generally being thankful for the experience

We loved the experience, it was quiet and serene. We had buck passing by early morning and evenings. The birds sang just about all day. The unit was clean and unexpected items surprised us, such as braai wood, blits, coffee tea etc. All the items needed for example pots, pans, plates, cutlery is in there. Even an electric blanket for the chilly evenings.

We spent 4 nights in the Africamps in Klein Karoo and it was a blast. We explored the area and visit the marble wagyu restaurant, the Swartberg pass, Kobus se Gat, Cango Wildlife ranch. We had ana amazing time when we got back to the tents. It had everything we needed. The fishing in the dam infront of the tents was exhilarating (a tip: use the corn kernels dipped in curry powder from the shop, nothing else seemed to work). We ended the stay off with a delicious potjie cooked by some friends that stayed with us. We really enjoyed our stay and already considering visiting the one in Wilderness

We had a fantastic time glamping outside of Oudtshoorn with AfriCamps Klein Karoo. The setting was beautiful; the tents super comfortable with separate bedrooms for parents and 2 kids, the sunsets were magical and the delivered BBQ that we could cook ourselves on the BBQ was outstanding, including ostrich steak. 20 min drive from Cango Caves which is a worthwhile visit and we also did a super interesting ostrich farm tour. We highly recommend for locals and internationals. Absolute value for money compared to some of the overpriced safari experiences in the region.

I thought this site was great! Easy to find, secure and a very pretty setting around the lake. The ‘tents’ were very spaciously set apart so lots of privacy and I think there were only maybe 12 in total. The tents themselves were brilliantly appointed and very comfortable, only thing missing was braii tools. There was plenty of wood supplies for both indoor and outdoor fires and the indoor one kept the entire place very warm! We had a really fun weekend and would definitely return or maybe try another camp with hot tubs, that would be even better!

We stayed there for 1 night on our way from Cape Town to Plettenberg Bay as we wanted to take some back roads and enjoy the scenery. The booking procedure was very easy and the whole experience was great. The two tents we had were clean, we ordered the Braaipacks which was convenient and fun and the staff were very friendly. Our kids enjoyed running around and the playground.
We visited in winter and it was cold at night but they had warm extra blankets as well as heated blankets which made it warm even at night. We will definitely come again.

the service of the host was good when we requested some fresh water and he was very friendly. I would not recommend the meal service, very disappointing, not worth the money and definitely not special at all. One can do much better at pick and pay or spar.

Hi Hannelie, we are delighted to hear that you liked our tents and the layout of our camp. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valued feedback. We are sorry to hear that the braai basket was not to your liking. The ostrich meat is prepared at the butchery on our farm and source other ingredients from various suppliers. We would appreciate it if you could send us an email as we would like to discuss this further to improve on our baskets.

We sadly could only stay one night, but our kids were begging us to stay more. Tents are fully equipped and very clean, even had a electric blankets and well prepped for the load shedding. We had booked the breakfast basket, which was delicious and already waiting for us once we arrived in the fridge!! We would come back in a hear beat.
