This wine estate is an absolute hidden gem off the beaten path in the Cango Valley, Oudtshoorn. The farm is picturesque and the farmstead nestles between mountains, vineyards and grazing sheep. Manina Smuts is a five star hostess and accepted our accommodation booking on short notice and she along with her excellent team and Seeumeeu, the dog, awaited us with smiles, chilled wine on ice, fresh flowers, wood by all the fireplaces and lots of personal touches. The gorgeous farm accommodation comprises of villas, cottages and a bush camp. We overnighted in ‘Ou Skooltjie’ and ‘The Bakhuis” with its gorgeous interiors - serene, luxurious and exceptionally comfortable. We loved our charming cottages. The quality linen, mattress and plush, luxury towels ensured a blissed and blessed in-room experience. We savoured the beautifully presented, flavoursome dishes at breakfast. Ideal for a dream stay combined with personal service and Swartberg peace.

As you come down the long driveway, more and more elements of the farm come into view. It’s a beautiful spot to relax, and we were only here for one night as a stop over - both of us have stated how we would make a special trip back to this hotel as it was just so glorious and welcoming. Restaurant was lovely, and the staff (we only dealt with one girl who was looking after the restaurant, shop, and our room) were brilliant. The most memorable part however? Meeting their Rhodesian Ridgeback Siemu who was such a delight, and who inspired us so much, that 6 months on we now have one of our own; Otis.

We had the most lovely stay at The Kombuys. The surroundings are beautiful, the rooms spacious and cosy with an eye for detail. The food is delicious, their own wine even more! Lee and the rest of the staff were extremely thoughtful and helpful. One of the unexpected highlights during our stay in South-Africa!

Superbulous! The service was excellent from the time of arrival to departure. Products are locally produced or sourced - the wagyu steaks are exceptional. Staff are well trained and given opportunity to excel. The accomodation, dating back to 1814, is very comfortable and stylish. What a nice experience.

Fantastic service; gorgeous, quaint, 5 star farm-style accomodation; food splendidly delightful! Accomodation is cozy and immaculately spotless Excellent fusion food with a wide variety of Wagu. Chardonnay and Shiraz will impress any avid wine lover. We always visit De Kombys as a half way stop from Cradock to Cape Town. On all our visit we have always been warmly welcomed and impressed with everything. We will be back again and again and again 😁 Ling Tam and Daniela de Klerk

My family and I visited after a friend referred us. We would most definitely be visiting again. We loved the wood fired jacuzzi since the weather was still cool. I thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor bath, my first time and it was such a lovely experience. The attention to detail was impeccable, from the amazing hand made bath salts to the decor and the dessert wine at the fire place. The food in the rustic restaurant was amazing. We felt like we were in another exotic country. Breakfast was superb, my 5 year old fussy eater toddler enjoyed the beautifully served breakfast. Wish we stayed longer but will most definitely be back. The staff were fantastic and attentive. What great service. We felt spoilt.

What a wonderful experience! We stayed in Blouberg cottage. The entire set up was great, from the design and interiors of the space to the comfort, service and views. The outdoor hot tub was amazing, especially early evenings. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, it was great! The Wagyu steak was cooked to perfection with the most complimenting side dishes. All and all, everything was great. They especially pay a lot of attention to detail and service.
