DAY VISIT - On Friday afternoon, Feb 21st, my partner and I stopped at Chandelier out of curiosity to find out more about the Ostrich rides. That is when we met Marcel Hugo. Although the day was very hot - in fact too hot to ride the Ostrich, Marcel was kind enough to help me take a picture on the Ostrich and then went out of his way to assist me to feed the Ostrich and take some photos. After that, he offered to lure the Giraffe, which was hiding in the brush, out so we could feed it and take more pictures. It made my partners day. Marcel was friendly, kind, caring, attentive, considerate and one of the nicest people I have met on my 3 month tour of South Africa. Rather than us just turning around and leaving, because of Marcel, we ended up staying at Chandelier for more than an hour. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Again, thank you Marcel for your kindness and for taking the time to share your knowledge with us ...... You are awesome! .... Your boss should give you a raise!!!!!!

Great stay at Chandelier Game Lodge in one of their Executive Tents. The 'Tent' is more like a hotel room with canvas walls, quiet, very spacious, comfortable and clean, a short drive away from the main buildings and restaurant. It is also an easy 15 minute walk if you want.
Whilst all the staff were excellent, special mention must go to Haley and Zenith.
Haley for her knowledge of not only the local flora and fauna, but also the stars that fill the sky over the Lodge and surrounding area.
Zenith for her absolute professionalism and knowledge of all things 'Ostrich'
Highlights of our stay; a visit to the Cango caves, breakfast with a very friendly Giraffe, visiting the Ostrich farm and best of all the Sundowner Bush dinner.
For the dinner Haley drove us way up into the mountains, viewing wildlife on the way, to enjoy a delicious South African barbeque, watching the sun go down over the mountains.
One word of advice, even though there is an open fire it does get quite cool up there so if you go bring warm clothes.

We had a super visit to Chandelier, Jane and all the staff could not have been more welcoming. We had in an earlier trip to South Africa enjoyed a big 5 game drive north of the Kruger so had no expectations of a stay in an ostrich farm. We could not have been more wrong! As we drove out to look for wildlife at 7am we were impressed by the knowledge of Steve our guide. We returned after seeing a lot of animals to a hearty breakfast and first encounter with Sheila the giraffe. Other drives and close ups with many deer, wildebeest and buffalo were excellent, Even the ostriches were fun! Dinners at the restaurant and a picnic in the bush also good and the tented accommodation was really comfortable. Side trips to Oudtshoorn for the caves and zoo were also included. Seeing the Khoi San bushcraft was also interesting. We recommend Chandelier to everyone- it’s great fun and good value. We’d certainly give it another shot

This hotel was a disappointment from the beginning, although my expectations were already low. Don't be fooled by the photos, as this accommodation could never be considered a hotel. It's more like a bad Guest House. The staff although friendly are not professional. We stayed at this hostel for just one night and it was a sacrifice from start to finish. We are a family with two young children and we stayed for one night in the camp accommodation. We arrived approximately 30 minutes before the night started but we were told that we would need to wait punctually for the time of our stay to get into the accommodation (not a minute less), a bit rude I thought. The camping accommodation was beautiful but despite the portable air conditioning the internal temperature went over 40º C (104 ° F) which made it impossible to stay inside. At dinner we cannot choose where we would sit and we had to sit outside the restaurant with the flies. By the way, there are flies everywhere. The food was terrible. At night the temperature of our camping accommodation was a little better after we took a shower and faced the portable air conditioning, unfortunately it is only possible to take a hot shower, as cold water does not come out of the taps only hot water although the tap of cold water exists. At least the shower and the water pressure was good and after a while the water was warm and not totally hot. At night we found a spider the size of a hand on the bathroom ceiling. My kids were scared and we tried to use the insecticide that was in the room, but it didn't work, so we zipped up and closed the bathroom for the room. The night's sleep was not pleasant as we were attacked by a large number of mosquitoes that we don't know how they were inside the room even though we used the mosquito net all the time. We were unable to sleep so the next day we got up and left very early before the room was too hot to stay inside. Conclusion, bad experience that provided five good photos, but not worth it!

We just thought it would be a nice stay with our (grand)children, but it became a brilliant experience for the whole family. The ostrich ride certainly made a big impression on the kids, they loved seeing their mother struggle. The tented accommodation was good, we had good food in the restaurant. But the highlight of the stay was the Lapa dinner. On the hilltop, with a stunning view over the 2 big mountain ranges, we enjoyed nice food. What a unique experience this was.
Also, the Khoi-San excursion was great. Not just a show for tourists. My wife kept on asking about the herbs and the use thereof. I am happy that the resort is able to support the exchange of this experience and encourages that the knowledge will not be lost.

We stayed at The Chandelier Lodge for one night in a luxury tent. We had an evening meal, breakfast and lunch which we really enjoyed, our stay included Giraffe feeding, Ostrich and Buffalo encounters, we really enjoyed the Giraffe feeding. We was well looked after by the staff and loved our encounters, food was excellent.

We stayed one night at Chandelier on a recent visit to Oudtshoorn. I must day it was very disappointing. There was no dinner service offered, the unit had a very unpleasant smell and the rooms need a makeover. We realized there was a constant alarm beeping right outside our main bedroom and when we called to ask them to assist, we were told there was nothing they could do. I've sent an email with feedback and nobody has bothered to respond.

This is the second time I have visited in a year with family. Second visits are always taken with some trepidation as you hope for, but never are sure of, the same experience. This time we were called a good few days before the visit to inform us that the luxury tents we had stayed at before had taken a hit with high rainfall and local flooding. Although we ended up staying elsewhere, Chandelier still arranged to provide us with the same special outdoor breakfast and Giraffe feeding as if we were the only people there, which we weren't, as the cabins were still full. It was very memorable for my son and his new wife. Thanks Jane, Zeneth and Shiela (the Giraffe)

If they did not have to the beautiful Giraffes they would not have clients in my opinion. Restaurant food was very good. Staff around the reception very friendly. Log cabin was a disappointment and not value for money paid.
Game drive was not very informative. After we paid for accommodation, game drive and breakfast when we booked, we were embarrassed in front of other guests as they insisted we had not paid for our breakfast on the last day. No manager available to discuss in private with us. We had to prove to staff on our phone we paid. Only to be told, sorry misunderstanding !! Not acceptable. I would only recommend a day trip to see and feed the 2 Giraffes.

We had a wonderful time at Chandelier Game Lodge. Although we stayed in a tent, the equipment was very luxurious with AC, a very comfortable bed, fast wifi and even a bathtub! What we liked most was the outdoor shower. During the breakfast, we had the opportunity to feed giraffes and there was a complimentary, private safari game drive in the morning. We only regret that we stayed for just one night... Thank you Chandelier!

Hi, ostrich riding isn't available at Chandelier as they take the welfare of their animals very seriously. Ostrich riding is now generally frowned upon as it is distressing to the animals. They do some guided walks where you can get up close & personal with the ostriches and they are well worth doing.
