De Zeekoe Guest Farm strikes a chord with many for its comfortable amenities, including a diverse range of activities and a commendable restaurant. Guests consistently laud the cleanliness across the property. Although its secluded location is perfect for some, others suggest having a car for better accessibility.
The staff's friendliness stands out, despite some service inconsistencies. Rooms are generally well-received for their size and views, yet there are mentions of sporadic upkeep issues. The atmosphere blends luxury with a scenic backdrop, and while the dining experience is mostly valued, some guests seek variety elsewhere.

Very friendly and personal welcome (names are on board at entrance). Breakfast: fresh eggs and bacon, fresh baked cupcakes and specialty: salty pancake with bacon. Fruit juice from package, coffee from pot but espresso available for a fee. Dining on site is also possible: limited menu but correct in terms of price / quality. Clean rooms with mosquito net but also extra mattress heating, mosquito repellent. Good beds. Beautiful balcony with bench cushions and table. Shop with handbags, plush... Offer evening activities (stargazing, is recommended) and meerkat spotting as a morning activity.
Con: very unstable wifi

The large, luxurious rooms were very well equipped (there were even heated blankets) with a great view from the balcony.
The staff were very friendly and attentive and helped us with all our needs. :)
The restaurant was excellent for both breakfast and dinner.
The location was great, from there we could easily visit the meerkat tour and an ostrich farm.

Zeekoe- a lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. The staff were always at hand should you need them, and ready to answer any query you may have. The dinner was good food with a local flavour - though not fine dining but always beautifully presented and very tasty. The grounds were very well maintained and there was a lot of communal space both indoors and outdoors where you can relax and either hook up to the Wi-Fi or watch the bird life. The rooms were really beautifully furnished with a good size balcony offering a lovely view and had some lovely touches including a decanter of sherry in the room. There’s plenty to do in the area including a meerkat safari which can be organised by the hotel. We also drive the Swartberg Pass which is worth a few hours of anyones time. Highly recommended.

We had booked this accommodation for one night. The rooms are nicely decorated, some require an external update, but overall still makes a sympathetic impression. The refrigerator should be thoroughly cleaned. The largest of the carpets had various soilings from the previous users. The complaint about this was received without hesitation and a female employee was commissioned to clean it. Unfortunately, the vacuum cleaner was defective, so the lady artfully swept the carpet with a broom and swept the hodgepodge of dirt on the scab, the result of the cleaning attempt was unsatisfactory. The view from the balcony is very nice. The bed mattress was of good quality. The outdoor area around the pool is nicely laid out, there were no additional loungers for the numerous guests. The seating was unfortunately dirty with bird droppings, so you didn't like to sit there, that was a shame. The food in the restaurant was disappointing except for the excellent quality of the ostrich steak, which was perfectly fried. The lamb consisted predominantly of bones with fat cartilage, the side dishes were boiled or warmed too much for too long and dripping and were also quite unimaginative, because four ordered dishes were served with the same side dish. Overall, a for the tasty cuisine in South Africa no good kitchen performance. The breakfast buffet the next morning was good and extensive and made up for some of this stay.

Pleasant but basic rooms. With very nice private terrace overlooking grassland. Rooms were very neat and shot over kettle and fridge. Meerkats (meerkats) activity is highly recommended. Important to book this in advance. Places per group are limited! Departure to site is early morning around 5.45

We spent a lively three nights here, the room was large and airy with a lovely view from a raised balcony. The pool area is small but very clean and the pool was a perfect temperature. The only criticism we had was the quality of the food, the breakfast was very limited and what there was was not great. At dinner I ordered battered fish and it looked like it had come out of a box in a freezer at the supermarket.

We stayed in one of the stone lodges, some 8 minutes drive from the main reception, along dusty and in place pitted tracks. There are three such lodges, and on our second night the other two were unoccupied, so we felt a little isolated - there are no phones in the lodges, and mobile signal was poor. They lacked some attention - the AC was in the sitting room, and therefore not able to cool the bedroom sufficiently and the tea was not replenished, so no way of getting more supplies without driving to the main reception.there were other points of detail which suggested that these were not being given the TLC they deserved, and were not designed with the guest in mind - bathroom light not but the bathroom, but by door into bedroom etc. may sound picky, but after other places we have stayed in SA somewhat disappointing. That said breakfast and dinner were good, staff friendly, and great to drive through the pass to Prince Albert.

We took our 4 grandchildren to De Zeekoe for 2 nights and loved every minute. Theo and his team were amazing and the food is so well prepared and served by a great team of friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble. This small guest hotel is situated looking out over the Outdshoorn farmland and mountains. Do not miss the Meerkat experience… this you will never forget!

We enjoyed this step in this pleasant Guesthouse. Already, we have the Impression of being expected since our name is inscribed on a sign outside to welcome us! Sympa. Smiling and pleasant welcome. The rooms are large, well appointed and blend with the spirit of the region. Large bed with good bedding, products / soap in a large shower, well arranged bathroom with bathrobes. Separate toilet and nice balcony. Nice pool. A haven of calm that prepared us well for our excursion to see the meerkats. Beautiful environment and Pension well located for this excursion.

De Zeekoe is one of my favorite places to stay. Food for the soul and a place where you can rest and relax. Beautiful accommodation, lovely meals and open spaces to run, cycle, walk or just relax under the African sun and moon. You can either book a luxury suite, self-catering or the type of accommodation that suit your stay. The luxury Suites are luxury, and you feel like a new person spending a night in these suites. I will recommend more than a one-night stay, because there is also a lot to o in the area. I am looking forward to my next visit to De Zeekoe.

Hi Lucian. We were very disappointed with the property and overall attitude. We had bookied a river view room and all we could see was tall grass. There was a power outage and the property does not have a generator (except for the owner's house next door!!) I would look for somewhere else in the area. We were there in January and it was very hot so without power, no air conditioning. Hope this helps
There are more places to choose from in the Oudtshoorn area.
