My wife and I visited Oudtshoorn in mid December 2020 and decided to stay at La Plume (because who doesn't want to stay on a working ostrich farm in the ostrich capital of the world?!?). On arrival we were treated to the most beautiful buildings and the friendliest staff we have ever met. The pictures just don't do it justice, you HAVE to see it. We had booked a Black Friday special so we were upgraded to one of the Superior Suites which was simply gorgeous! We could not believe our luck. On our first night we had dinner at La Plume and decided to go for some traditional Klein Karoo meals: Lamb Cutlets. We have never in all our lives tasted food like that. It was beyond delicious. Words cannot describe how amazingly tasty it was. Breakfast in the morning also did not disappoint and neither did the light lunch wraps we had after our spa treatments. All in all this has been one of the most incredible accommodation experiences we have ever had and would highly recommend a stay over at La Plume if you are ever in the Klein Karoo.

Had a 3 night stay at LaPlume and would Highly recommend To anyone passing through this area on the garden route. A very peaceful location and staff were very helpful and looked after all our needs during our stay. Our room was wonderful, the bathroom alone was the size of our room in Cape Town. Went on the Ostrich tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Am writing this review 2 years after our visit as I considering another holiday on the garden route and have realised I did not give La Plume a review after our holiday. Note, we visited in 2018.

Pulling up at La Plume we were happy to see such lovely surroundings. Having gone through check in we were shown to our suite and could not believe how luxurious it was. Everything about it screamed first rate. The bathroom alone was bigger than some of the bedrooms and ensuites we have stayed in on this trip. The quality of the furniture and fittings was in line with the surroundings. There is a lovely swimming pool set in beautiful gardens as well as a wellness centre offering all sorts of pampering. We just did not have enough time to use the latter but the swimming pool was brilliant. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and tried ostrich for the main course, which followed an exceptional choice from the cold table for a starter. Ostrich is not something that was greatly to either of our tastes but at least we now can say that we tried it. The following morning we were taken on a farm safari of the ostrich farm by the owner of the guest house and farm which added greatly to our understanding of life in Oudsthoorn and this type of farming in general. We were returned to the farm in time for a superb breakfast. Certainly a stay to be remembered fondly and I would urge anyone travelling to this part of the world to try La Plume.

Room Tip: All good from what we could see but our suite was to the left of the building as you came out.
