We stayed at Montana for two nights in late December. Our loft apartment with spa bath was spacious, very comfortable and had a lovely big deck overlooking the lawns and pool below. The farm has a couple of swimming pools available to guests and we had a small pool and jacuzzi right by the entrance to our accommodation which we thoroughly enjoyed in the December heat. The farm and accommodation was excellent and we’d definitely stay there again. The ostrich farm tour and the Meerkat tour are also not to be missed! The only downside, and it was a biggie, was dinner. The farm’s restaurant serves breakfast in the morning and is available for dinner in the evening. On arrival, we were encouraged to book for dinner which was R300pp for the set menu. The menu hadn’t been published as yet but the chef was described as “young and experimental”- sounded exciting! The atmosphere of the restaurant was intimate and authentic and the staff efficient and welcoming. The dinner unfortunately was a disappointment and poor value for money. The set menu had become a buffet of shepherd’s pie, small pieces of baked hake and two salads (coleslaw and a sort of mixed greens with salami). The food was demolished quickly and there wasn’t enough of the main dishes. Dessert was a chilled lemon posset with strawberries and ice cream. I’d give dinner a miss next time and rather try somewhere in town. Breakfast, however, was great and the option of scrambled ostrich egg was delightful! Accommodation fantastic but venture out for dinner.

We spent Christmas Eve at Montana Guest Farm and had a wonderful time. Champagne was served outside before dinner, with beautiful views of the extraordinary mountains around oudtshoorn. Our hosts Wolfgang and Daggi were charming as were the other guests and friends of the hosts who dined with us. We won't forget our stay.

This was my second time staying in this location, I found the grounds to be beautiful and the rooms were nice and clean and very spacious, it is also close to the can go caves which are well worth a visit, but be aware, do not decide to have an evening meal at this location as it is not only average at best but the food is also horrendously overpriced, in fact it is a complete rip off.

Lovely setting, Beautiful spacious accomadation, lovely pools, breakfast lovely, but be warned you might not get what you ordered, especially if your in a group, and a big warning, Do not eat yoyr evening meal there, too expensive for what you get, we got charged a tax on top of a tax and when we questioned it we were told that it was normal....

Had the pleasure of staying here in February. Overall this was a lovely homely place the rooms were lovely and big with fine big beds and bathrooms. It also has the advantage of the ostrich farm. This is also close to the Cango Caves. However I would not book a meal there again as Alfred was slow, we didn't have a choice of how our food was cooked and then charged double tax when paying for the meal. Everything else perfect but don't book a meal there. There a plenty of other places to eat nearby ie Buffelsdrift.

We chose to stay at Montana Guest Farm for a few days of total relaxation. The comfort of the Cactus Suite were found to meet our need of relaxing in a peaceful environment without being in the hussle and bussle of a busy holiday season. Spa bath in the room relaxing and well kept. Private swimming pool near the Cactus Suites convenient although a bigger swimming pool also available on the premises. Breakfast is basic but acceptable. We decided to have dinners at closeby Restaurants simply to add to the relaxation, but dinners available at Montana. Rooms have DSTV and Wi-fi should one prefer to laze around. Close to all the major attactions such as Cango Caves, Cango Wildlife and Ostrich Farm. German hosts friendly and ready to welcome all.

We were very pleasantly surprised by this splendid accommodation near Oudtshoorn. Everything was perfect, from the reception to the delicious steaks and breakfast chef Alfred. Our cottage exceeded our expectations, very spacious and luxurious with a private pool. Our two year old son was more than welcome, they did everything to make him comfortable and he still talks about Alfred, Wolfgang and the house dog Jessica. We will be back and we will recommend you! Thanks for the great stay!

We were looking so forward to this stay. We chose a more expensive place to stay so we could have the best, as it was our little romantic getaway. I think one time this was a lovely place. But everything was a disappointment. Our room was okay, clean, nice linen. Bath was a jet bath, did not work. No where to go for dinner, as it is miles from anywhere, so you sort of have to stay at the venue to have dinner. They only had a few things on the menu, but extremely expensive. We do not mind that, if the food is good, but if it is in a home dinning room, and you have to eat with the owners, I would have expected a lower price. Food was terrible!! Service was also bad. The waiter was not only serving us, but was the cook, with such an attitude on him. We had other guests staying there as well, and we all had to sit with the German owners, and they were also not happy with that. Our romantic get away was ruled by them. Also when we were just about finished dinner and finally relaxed, and could chat to the other guests, the owners stood up and said, okay, that is if, everyone to bed. ha ha, we felt like kids. Food as bad as it was, was so out priced it was more expensive than a Cape Town restaurant. So if you stay at this place, do not eat there. Wine list was minimal, and not any good choice. When we left after breakfast, because we did not tip our (waiter/cook), our waiter/cook, who in the morning was now the receptionist to give us our horrendous bill, could hardly say goodbye to us. We were on our own. Not even a walk to the door and a wave. Would we go back: NO THANK YOU

We stayed at Montana Guest Farm while doing selfdriving tour in South Africa. We arrived an enthusiastic welcome from Wolfgang and Dagmar. After we were shown our room we had a lovely swim to cool off. The main house is an old colonial, verandahed home, with the guest rooms located in 3 separate buildings across the lawn. Our bedroom was large and had a spacious well equipped bathroom, and a very comfortable and huge sitting room. Wolfgang and Dagmar had thought of pretty much everything to make us comfortable. Before dinner - every evening - the hosts all guests for sundowner, nice idea for getting to know the other guests. We enjoyed an excellent dinner on the verandah of the main house. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Wolfgang and Dagmar were a genuinely hospitable couple and couldn't have done more to make us feel at home. We come back!

We stayed at the Montana Guest Farm for 1 night in May, during a 10-day Roadtrip through South Africa and enjoyed the hospitality of owner Wolfgang a lot! We were welcomed with a nice glass of Sherry and had a great ostrich fillet for dinner, followed by a very nice chat with other guests and the owner. We were there during a time with lot of governmental-ordered black-outs in the evenings, but this absolutely did not affect us at all - more than enough flashlights, candles and lanterns were provided! The room was huge, with a separated bedroom, furniture was rather of a traditional style but looked very nice!
