A lovely country setting and grounds just off the main road. We parked in the private car park just inside the gate which felt safe and secure. A nice welcome and we were shown to a room that was overlooking the pool. The room had a king-size bed and also a separate bedroom with two singles. It had a shower and bathroom that was adequate for our needs. Breakfast is served in or outside the restaurant and was a nice relaxing setting. The pool is large and was very quiet when we stayed with plenty of sunbeds available. We really enjoyed the grounds and relaxing atmosphere here. There is some road noise but this was not excessive and did not bother us. The distance to the main street in Oudtshoorn is a little too far to walk but we got a taxi quickly and easily for only 50 rand each way. There are a few nice places at the northern end of the street to eat. Booking is recommended as there is no restaurant available in the evenings at the lodge. We would recommend and return for our next stay.

I usually find that Tripadvisor reviews give you a fair idea of what to expect, Having read some of the glowing reviews, our expectations were reasonably high for our 3 nights stay. On the plus side : The breakfast room is nice with tables outside and there is a very reasonable choice. Our room the Honeymoon Suite was spacious so was the bathroom. The air conditioning worked well. The buildings look nice and are well maintained. The grounds are spacious. On the downside: The hotel is next to the main road so if you are in the garden, you can sometime be aware of the traffic noise. Unfortunately our first impression was not good. A mediocre welcome at reception, no help with the luggage, no explanation about the hotel facilities, the air conditioning was not on in the room while it was 33 degrees outside. If like us you are travelling in the Cape for a few weeks, you might find that the wardrobe space is somewhat insufficient. On balance, it is a shame that our experience was not as good as others but the potential is there.

I had a amazing experience in this little gem. The whole experience was great because of the staffer ( Melandie) who made sure every little need we had was taken care of. The rooms were delightful and all the couples were were travelling with loved them. They were the 4 newly built delux rooms at the back of the lodge. The quiet water feature in front of them was so peaceful. The recommendation for supper that (Melandie) gave us had us eating the best bobotie we had ever eaten. The steaks were legendary! Bufflesdrift is a must in this town and the views were good. Make a turn around ostrich land and you will be amazed.

In every way this place met and exceeded our expectations - every aspect of the presentation down to small details is pleasing, well constructed, and carefully thought out. Even better it has substantial power inverter technology installed so when we returned during a load-shed we were scarcely inconvenienced - our room was dark for a while but the public lounge was comfortable and well lit. Breakfast was excellent, and yes South African 'champagne' was on offer. And somebody really had cleaned my car's windscreen - probably the whole car. A unique treat. And it's very convenient for setting off to the Cango caves, or for the intrepid up and over the fantastic Swartberg Pass.

My husband booked 2 nights for us at Hlangana Lodge when we visited his brother & sister-in-law in Oudtshoorn. We’ve been to Oudtshoorn on several occasions in the past and always try different places to stay - well that was until the most recent visit where we stayed at Hlangana. Now we have found our ultimate stayover destination in the Klein Karoo town of Oudtshoorn. The place is a gem and the staff knows how to treat their customers. Even the cats made us feel welcomed and special. Rooms are wel equiped with everything your heart desire. The garden is in super condition and a place where your soul can find peace. Breakfasts are a gourmet feast and served in a lovely dining room with large doors opened to welcome nature inside and adding to a wonderful atmosphere. There is a well maintained swimming pool where one can cool down on a hot summer’s day. We stayed in one of the ‘standard’ rooms and were very happy and comfortable with what it offered. We will only use Hlangana as our stayover destination for all future visits to Oudtshoorn ❤️

Arriving at Hlangana Lodge after a long day's ride was like entering the Garden of Eden. The beautiful grounds and pool were spectacular. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, and the breakfast excellent. The really exceptional thing about this place though was the unbelievably friendly, helpful and accommodating approach of Anjo and all the staff who really went out of their way to make us welcome and assist with whatever they could to make our stay pleasant. As a cycling group we had bikes to wash and store securely, laundry to do, etc. and nothing was too much trouble. Would love to go back!
