Rosenhof Boutique Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn en route to the Cango Caves and Ostrich Farms. The carefully renovated homestead (Circa 1852), with its yellowwood beams and ceilings and a tasteful collection of antique furniture, exudes an aura of authenticity. The lovely rose garden, which gave Rosenhof its name, leads to stylishly decorated bedrooms, each individually furnished. All rooms provide air-conditioning, satellite television, telephone, mini bar and tea trays. The two Executive Suites each have their own pool, lounge and patio, with tranquil views of the Swartberg Mountain. Rosenhof has a cosy pub and several luxury lounges with fireplaces where visitors can relax and admire works from well-known South African artists. In summer, cool down in the pool or take tea in the manicured gardens. The Wellness Center offers a fully equipped gym, sauna and spa.

We stayed here as part of our 8-day tour along the Garden Route. The hotel is stunning. Our room was beautiful and every amenity that we needed for a lovely stay. We used the restaurant one evening and the food and service were outstanding. We enjoyed a spa treatment and relaxed around the lovely pool. The area is enjoyable with plenty to do and it is a great part of the Garden Route.

Its a really nice place to stay with everything you need. The staff is very friendly. We stood in the Bird Cottage, a complet house with an own pool and a little garden. We would like to come back, if possible.

Top rate lodge with a feel of the American South. Staff were all extremely friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was large, lovely courtyard setting. Dinner was fine dining, the main part of the hotel was very colonial and comfortable. Lovely terraces for afternoon tea. Not much you can walk to but lots of restaurants and attractions a short drive away. The most luxurious lodge we stayed in during our two week trip

Exquisite hotel that oozes history and is well shaded from the heat and built around established trees. Feels very grand and the restaurant provides a very good three course meal in a lovely setting. The service is exceptional from checking in to checking out and the staff even filled up my car windscreen wash and then washed the car before leaving- how good was that. Whilst the hotel is set in its own grounds there is little to do immediately outside the hotel, though in reality you would not want to leave.

Rosenhof is our happy place. It’s where we go to escape the rat race and to celebrate. We were back to celebrate our anniversary over the weekend of 6 October 2023. As always, the attention to detail at Rosenhof was a delight. Every bit of brass is polished to a shine, not a speck of dust anywhere, nothing out of place, and those beautiful gardens blooming with the joys of spring, simply spectacular! Breakfast is serenely and skilfully understated. Creative speciality cooked offerings alongside a beguiling spread of cereals, fruit, cold cuts, and baked goods – the breakfast bread is sublime. Lunch is light but still generous. Try the Butternut Salad or Spring Rolls. The excellent dinner menu changes regularly. Homegrown artichoke tartlet, chicken pie, and a to-die-for chocolate desert were some of the items on offer this time. The rooms and suites speak of elegance and luxury. Fresh white linen, towels, and gowns. Indulgent bathrooms. Romantic bedrooms. Tastefully chosen artworks and furnishings. With each suite comes the added and sanguine pleasure of a private garden and pool. To consistently maintain such high standards across so many fronts with such a small staff-turnover bears testimony to the extraordinary approach of the owners, the talent of general manager Jean Pierre, and the dedication of the staff compliment. Jean Pierre is a subtle but constant and reassuring presence. Ryan and Mandisi keep the front of house ticking like clockwork. Alina, the other waitresses, and the kitchen staff are among our long-time favourites. Service levels are always top-class. Every guest is made to feel special. Keeping the rooms, gardens, and yard so well must be a mammoth undertaking. The pride every member of staff we have encountered on our visits evidently takes in being part of Rosenhof is unprecedented in our experience. My wife and I both adore spa treatments. The Bliss Spa’s Monique gives the best massages. Perceptive, attuned to different clients’ needs, skilled, articulate, and adored. We would not be surprised to find that Monique is a big part of the reason why many return to this jewel of the Little Karoo. We cannot overstate how highly we rate Rosenhof. A visit to this tranquil getaway should be on everybody’s bucket list. Beware though, once is never enough!

We would defiantly recommend this beautiful, relaxing, luxurious country house in Oudshoorn if you want to get away from the busy world. It defiantly lives up to its 5 stars with excellent service and what it has to offer. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the staff could not help us enough. The room we had was amazing with its own seating area outside. We were able to relax and enjoy the sounds of the country whilst sitting around the swimming pool and outside our room. We dined in both evenings and the food was delicious. Breakfast was plentiful and we chose to eat breakfast outside despite the cool temperatures because we love the outdoors. I visited the wellness centre for a therapeutic massage and can highly recommend it.

Rosenhof is a place of faded glamour. Lovely colonial juxtaposition from other stops on our journey. Great service - not as friendly/warm as previous places but quietly discrete and efficient. Our suite was lovely but very much setup for warm summers. In early Spring we had 29 degrees outside and the suite was freezing inside (had to run the a/c in warm mode as the fire didn't work) Great quality food in the restaurant - got to try the Ostrich steak!
