Rosenhof Boutique Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn en route to the Cango Caves and Ostrich Farms. The carefully renovated homestead (Circa 1852), with its yellowwood beams and ceilings and a tasteful collection of antique furniture, exudes an aura of authenticity. The lovely rose garden, which gave Rosenhof its name, leads to stylishly decorated bedrooms, each individually furnished. All rooms provide air-conditioning, satellite television, telephone, mini bar and tea trays. The two Executive Suites each have their own pool, lounge and patio, with tranquil views of the Swartberg Mountain. Rosenhof has a cosy pub and several luxury lounges with fireplaces where visitors can relax and admire works from well-known South African artists. In summer, cool down in the pool or take tea in the manicured gardens. The Wellness Center offers a fully equipped gym, sauna and spa.

Rosenhof Country House emerges as a cherished destination for its exceptional service, with guests frequently lauding the staff's personalized attention and the exquisite dining experiences. The hotel's classical charm and comfortable ambiance, set within beautifully manicured gardens, are well received, as are the luxurious and capacious rooms, despite some noting a few dated features and chilly temperatures.
While the value proposition is generally appreciated, especially for suites with private pools, guests have called out additional charges for special coffees. The cleanliness of the hotel, from the pristine rooms to the immaculate grounds, consistently earns rave reviews.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our tour along the Garden Route. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived and were given a lovely cold drink, which was much appreciated as the outside temperature was 43 degrees. Our room was situated around the courtyard and was fantastic. Breakfast was served outside, under a canopy which protected us from the intense morning sun. The choice was excellent and the food fantastic. We also had our evening meal in the restaurant on our first night and again the choice and quality of food was fantastic.
The town itself really doesn’t have much to offer and we were advised that there was no local taxi firm, if you were thinking of going into town at night for a change. However, a good tip, if you do fancy a change of venue for an evening meal, check them out on the internet and then give them a ring as the one we contacted offered to come and pick us up and return us to the Rosenhof after the meal, which they did.
There is a beautiful pool area which is a real oasis of calm.
All in all a beautiful place stay and would recommend it unreservedly.

Stayed in a suite with pool and was fantastic room with so much space inside and out. Service generally was off a very high standard, room service, bar and restaurants. Had dinner in the hotel and it was a beautiful meal in great dining room, breakfast was also outstanding, sad to leave!

What a pleasant surprise! The rooms were large and well appointed with complimentary tea/coffee, water and fruit. Dinner was a delight and the service impeccable. We only had a flying visit as we arrived early evening and were checking out early morning to do a Meerkat Safari. We were provided with an early morning breakfast with freshly baked muffins and dinner was accompanied by freshly baked bread. Highly recommend if you are visiting Oudtshoorn. Also highly recommend the Meerkat Safari and Cango Caves while you are there.

Went for a relaxing weekend to spoil ourselves and get away from a hectic period at work. We were not disappointed at all. We were greeted on arrival after a 4 hour drive from PE with a drink and some very fresh, tasty canopies which we had on the verandah overlooking the gardens.
Our room was beautiful and, given the time of year, the air con had been switched on earlier to make sure it was warm and cosy for us.
The main building is stunning, beautifully set out and filled with period furniture and fittings. We had dinner there our first night and could not have been happier. Beautiful food, a lovely warm dining room and a great wine selection.
We couldn't recommend this place highly enough if your looking for a romantic, decadent escape.
Only suggestion or improvement would be heating in the breakfast room when it's as cold in the morning as it was on our visit.

The Rosenhof Guest House is easy to find and is in an ideal location in Oudtshoorn. We got a warm welcome with complimentary drinks and canapes which was a nice touch. Our room was spacious and well equipped.
We were a little disappointed in the restaurant - we did not get the table we had been promised and the service was a little chaotic. We choose to eat out on our second night.
We ordered a picnic lunch for the next day but were surprised to find a picnic breakfast in our room when we returned the same day after a sight-seeing trip. That said, the breakfast was generous and well packed but summed up the slightly muddled service.
We really appreciated having the car washed, particularly as it got rather dusty on the Swatberg Pass.

The rooms here are little cottages around a central green and the gardens are lovely. but it is a little out of town so you really need to drive in the heat.
The room was freshly decorated but the bed was very soft and uncomfortable. The wifi was extremely patchy and the bathroom had the worst lighting I've experienced in years, one light bulb plus an ultra dingy LED around the mirror.
There's a nice swimming pool but when my husband went out for his pre breakfast swim it was being maintained and he wasn't allowed in. Another pool was suggested but this belonged to the suites so, despite them being vacant, this wasn't allowed. Not the best customer service in the Age of Covid when the hotel was almost empty. Bed very soft.
Breakfast was excellent, served in a gazebo in the garden although the service was slow and we struggled to get our coffee topped up. We ate in the dining room one evening but, again, service was slow and the food was a bit like school dinners!

We stayed for 2 nights in February 2022 as the relaxing part of our trip to South Africa. we continue our journey to Pezula in Knysna for the next 3 nights. Pezula was disgusting so we only stayed for 1 night. We contacted Rosenhof to see if they had availability for 2 nights and we’re delighted when they said yes and that we could have the same room. We had a 2 hour drive back to the hotel which really sums up how special the hotel and staff are - it was like going home.
Thank you for an amazing 4 nights of perfection and it was lovely to see the 2 resident tortoises again - we even had names for them - Tobias and Theodore 💕

We had booked two executive suites but one was under renovation, so they offered one of us the family home. We decided for all four of us to move into the family room as it had three bedrooms, living, dining, study etc. etc. It is the Owner's home when they visit! Palacious, luxurious with a pool (too cold!) too! The only issue was that it was freezing downstairs, but the huge upstairs with the three ensuite bedrooms was perfect!
Great bathrooms and the linens, toiletry etc. were top notch!
We enjoyed our two nights. The gardens, rooms etc are all very well maintained.
Breakfast was included and was sumptuous with champagne etc. available. [Charging extra for special coffees seemed a bit tacky.]
We had dinner there one night and discovered that the owners also had a winery. The menu is limited but it is a small town and we were the only guests dining there that night.
Recommendation: Highly recommended!

We were only spending two nights here as part of our journey from Cape Town to Plettenberg Bay. Rosenhof was lovely and we were fortunate enough to have one of their executive suites with it's own pool and lounge. Whilst we didn't eat in the restaurant, the service was excellent and the breakfast fabulous and a great base to see an Ostrich farm, drive the Swartberg pass, visit Prince Albert and see some Meerkats early one morning (which the staff very kindly booked for us).
We're unsure what there is to actually see in Oudtshoorn, but this is a lovely country house in which to stay, relax and just chill! Fabulous grounds, wonderful staff. Thank you!

Exquisite hotel that oozes history and is well shaded from the heat and built around established trees. Feels very grand and the restaurant provides a very good three course meal in a lovely setting. The service is exceptional from checking in to checking out and the staff even filled up my car windscreen wash and then washed the car before leaving- how good was that. Whilst the hotel is set in its own grounds there is little to do immediately outside the hotel, though in reality you would not want to leave.
