A beautiful location with stunning views. We were upgraded to a huge five bed duplex accommodation. Tower had looked forward to the olive sampling but was rather disappointed that there were so few olives and without any description. The food at breakfast was wonderful as was the dinner selection. We would have gone for a long walk but stayed under in the shade as the weather was so hot. The lake was lovely with all the different birds. We did feel as though the waiting staff were inconvenienced when we needed service.

We just spent 3 nights at Surval and very much enjoyed our stay. The estate is very beautiful and located in a wonderful natural surrounding, with a nice garden and plenty of olive trees. We had two amazing and very comfortable rooms (or rather suites). Thanks a lot for that. We also enjoyed the "Su Casa" restaurant. The olive tasting there with 3 different kind of olives, 3 different kind of chutneys, olive oil and bread and crackers is really good. Food is also good, but very limited if like me, you dont eat meat. On one evening I had the pasta alfredo, without bacon, and it was basically a soup of cream, with very much cooked pasta and some mushrooms. This was one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. For some strange reason, even though it was not very warm, the doors of the restaurant were open, so that it was really cold inside. We are from Switzerland, so used to cold weather, so we felt this quite strange. Breakfast is very good. When there are a lot of guests, there is a buffet. When not, its a la carte, which is very sensible, as I hate food waste.

We had a lovely stay! On arrival we were welcomed by the very friendly Handré, who arranged for a bottle of champagne to celebrate our honeymoon. The rooms are spacious and clean and the surroundings are beautiful. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant was incredible, so many options to suit everyone! We went on the meerkat safari in the nearby Buffelsdrift Lodge which was super! The only downside would be during load shedding there isn’t always a generator, the rooms are quite dark so it was difficult to get around or read during these times. We were happy enough during load shedding to switch off from the world and read our books but had to do so outside under a blanket to get some light. Overall a great stay with excellent staff and food. We would definitely stay again.

We saw this lovely place on the side of the road when looking for somewhere to stop for lunch between visiting the Congo Wildlife Ranch and Congo Caves. It was a stunning place, set on lovely grounds and we had a delicious lunch, with very attentive service. I had never heard of this place before we visited but the accommodation looked lovely so would certainly look into staying here if we come back. Would highly recommend for a lunch stop!

Surval Boutique Olive Estate offers superb, quality accommodation at a reasonable price. The location of the lodge is magnificent, as it not only offers a great platform to explore from, but also boasts beautiful landscaped gardens, magnificent views and a great restaurant with professional staff. We loved the friendliness and profesionlism of all the staff, and really enjoyed the ambiance of Surval.

In the most splendid folds of Oudtshoorn, South Africa, there exists a slice of heaven that doesn't shy away from tickling your taste buds and soothing your soul. The Surval Olive Estate. Oh boy! If you don't find me in Los Angeles cracking jokes, you'll probably catch me hanging out here, savoring every second of this culinary and sensory delight. The evening started with a tantalizing dance between our taste buds and the stuffed calamari. A delightful tease of the ocean's best, oozing with savory flavors that made me wish I had an extra stomach. Seriously, guys, I can't make this stuff up! The calamari was plush, yet firm and packed with a stuffing that was just out of this world. It's the Beyonce of stuffed calamari—no, scratch that—it's the Oprah! And just when we thought we were at the peak of flavor town, in came the cottage pie. Imagine it like the sweet melody of a John Legend love song translated into a dish. Humble and comforting, but rich and deeply satisfying. Like it's whispering to you, "All of me loves all of you," right before melting in your mouth and making you question your life choices. The red wine? Don't even get me started. Imagine the finest velvet cape, then imagine it liquid, and it's still not enough. The wine had a bold, commanding presence, yet a tender touch. It was a sensual tango between ripe fruit and delicate oak, ending in a climax of a finish that left us blushing. Let's not forget about the Olive Chutney - the unsung hero of the night. It was like the Jay-Z to our Beyonce calamari, complementing and elevating the dish to a whole other level. It was tangy, it was sweet, it was basically a party in a jar that our taste buds were exclusively invited to. Willton, our server, was a masterpiece in motion. He was attentive without being intrusive, courteous without being superficial— the Ryan Gosling of servers, if you will. He was like a culinary GPS, guiding us on a journey through the restaurant's offerings with precision and a genuine smile. As for the accommodation, it was like drifting off in a cloud spun from silk and cotton candy. The bed, I swear, was cleaner than a Mr. Clean commercial and the sheets so crisp they could stand in for a morning news anchor. Not to forget the dual vanity that was straight-up 'MTV Cribs' worthy—absolutely off the hook. The Surval Olive Estate is a crescendo of class, comfort, and culinary excellence. It's a place that effortlessly impresses, making you feel like you're the VIP guest at the fanciest of Hollywood parties, while still maintaining that warm and cozy 'home away from home' vibe. In short, it's a must-visit, especially if you're in Oudtshoorn. If not, seriously consider booking a flight, like yesterday! It's a full five stars from this comedian, and a standing ovation for making my stay unforgettable. Oh, and let's roll out the red carpet for Chanelle, the stunning gatekeeper of Surval Olive Estate. Checking in at a hotel has never been so glamorous. It was like being welcomed by a Hollywood A-lister at a glitzy movie premiere. I half expected the paparazzi to pop out behind the olive trees! With Chanelle, it wasn't just about her physical beauty - although, let me tell you, she could easily be on the cover of Vogue. No, it was more than that. Her grace, charm, and radiant smile set the tone for our entire stay. She made us feel special, as if we were the only guests in the world, in a place that already felt like a dream. Chanelle navigated the check-in process with the poise of a seasoned ballerina and the efficiency of a Swiss watch. Every detail, every question, every minor request was handled with a level of attention that made us feel truly valued. It was the perfect beginning to an already unforgettable journey. So here's to you, Chanelle, for setting a high bar for hospitality and leaving us starry-eyed. To all future travelers of the Surval Olive Estate, get ready to be mesmerized from the moment you step foot on this magnificent property, because Chanelle is your first taste of the magic that awaits. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Handre, the estate's resident charmer and olive connoisseur! Picture a puppy with George Clooney's charisma - that's Handre in a nutshell. This man doesn't just walk down the hallway; he struts down the runway of life with a sass that would make Tyra Banks jealous. Let me paint you a picture here. As Handre sashayed down the halls, he wasn't just showing us curios; he was weaving tales and bringing to life the rich history behind each piece. His captivating narrative, as rich and textured as the curios themselves, was truly an audio-visual treat. Then, just when you thought you had seen all that Handre had to offer, he pulls out the pièce de résistance - the olives. He presented them with such an air of ceremony that I half expected a drumroll. Each olive was a taste bud tantalizing explosion of flavor - the perfect balance of saltiness, tanginess and that unmistakable olive oomph. I mean, if selling olives was an Olympic sport, Handre would have had a record haul of gold medals by now. So, hats off to you, Handre! Your charming personality and olive selling prowess left an indelible mark on our stay at Surval Olive Estate. As I jet off into the night, I'll be happily munching on the olives I couldn't resist buying, with memories of your charismatic swagger guiding us through those magnificent hallways. Trust me, folks, you won't just leave the Surval Olive Estate with a satiated stomach and a rested soul; you'll leave with a smile on your face, and Handre's personality etched in your heart.

Breathtaking view of the landscape and mountains. The room was comfortable for two. Excellent food (breakfast and dinner) and service. Make sure you buy a jar of the estate olive spread. There are several spots to hangout with friends/loved ones, which is a big bonus.

We stayed in April as a family during our holiday road trip down the Garden Route. Nice welcome at reception on arrival and shown to the room. Our family room was huge and had two separate bedrooms, one with a lounge area and the other with fridge and tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was also huge, with double sinks and a walk in shower. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold items to help yourself to, along with jugs of juice and coffee. The views from the dining area towards the mountains in the morning were exceptional. We ate dinner on both nights that we stayed and both meals were excellent. The Olive study starter was so good we had it twice! The service from the staff at dinner was friendly and attentive. Only small negatives were, the walls in the rooms were very thin. We could hear the conversations of our neighbours as if we were all in the same room together! I think we also had a loft room above us from the room behind and had rampaging kids running around above us until around 11.30pm. Not really the hotels fault, a parenting issue, but perhaps some further sound proofing is needed? There is also power load shedding from 6 - 8pm here. This was a common occurrence at all 5 hotels we stayed at during our trip. A rechargeable torch was provided in the room, however this was the only hotel out of the 5 that didn't have any kind of back up generator. In the others we stayed at, they at least had back up generator to the main public spaces. We ate in the dark by candle light, which was initially quite romantic, but did limit the dinner options that could be prepared. I think it may have become a pain after a couple of days, as you can't really take yourself off anywhere in the dark and sitting in the room in the dark isn't an option. Wifi didn't work in the room but fine in the main building. Not that we're that bothered but my daughter was tearing my ear off about it. We visited the Cango caves nearby which were well worth a visit. Heard good things about the Meerkat safari's but didn't go as we had a 3 day safari booked at the end of our trip to South Africa. I'm not sure there is a great deal more to do in the area that would keep you occupied for more than a coupe of days. Overall though a good stop over and great staff.
