A beautiful 1910 Edwardian 'feather palace' located just outside Oudtshoorn which is run by two lovely hosts who really went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was memorable. Each bedroom and en suite bathroom has been recently renovated and is equipped with state of the art amenities including my personal favourite - a Nespresso machine. The freshly cooked breakfast (which can include an Ostrich egg if you so wish) was delicious and we loved that we could dine in the formal dining room.

Every little detail has been really well thought out at Welgeluk and we enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked to return at the end of June! Can't wait.

We loved everything about our stay at the Welgeluk Feather Palace. Each room in this historical building was lovingly renovated with great attention to detail. The bedrooms are large as are the bathrooms. The hosts looked after us warmly as we have rarely experienced it. The breakfast was excellent and left nothing to be desired. There are two dogs we made friends with right away.
The property is situated a little outside of Oudtshoorn, but you can get there quickly by car.

Welgeluk Feather Palace was fabulous! My husband and I stayed one night on our honeymoon as we travelled though Oudtshoorn. Our main reason for visiting was to see the ostriches. Bermadette kindly gave us a 10% off voucher for the ostrich safari - well worth a visit there if you're considering it! The house is beautifully decorated and we especially appreciated the electric blankets in bed as it was winter! Although we were the only guests at the time, a full continental breakfast was still laid out and followed with freshly baked bread and delicious eggs. Thank you for our stay and we will be recommending to our friends and family.

Welgeluk Feather Palace is a most stunningly restored historical building. The interior decoration has been tastefully done and in keeping to the building. Stan and Bernadette are the most warm and welcoming hosts and would do their utmost to make your stay memorable. Outstanding breakfast at friendly competent staff. I can highly recommend this BnB if you happen to be in Oudtshoorn.

Our stay in a cottage in Welgeluk was very relaxing, as we didn't have to worry about the hustle and bustle of a city.
The owners of the farm were very friendly, hospitable and helpful and explained a lot of things to us about the ostrich farm.
This accommodation is definitely recommended and we would come back immediately.

Such a lovely house filled with history. The owners make you feel very welcomed and Stan has a great sense of humour. The beds are the best comfort by far! Ostrich scrambled egg for breakfast, which was a treat. Thank you for our memorable stay

Travelling throughout SA during 2 weeks and having seen quite a number of spots and location, the Welgeluk Feather Palace was the place we liked the most. Wonderfully renovated guest house from the 1910s, very approachable and nice hosts, fantastic breakfast (including ostrich eggs), everything was perfect. Thank you very much Stan and Bernadette, and although we only stayed one day/night with you guys, we definitely will be back!

We stayed a total of two nights there and had a great stay.
Bernadette and Ryan are wonderful hosts who take great care of their guests.
In addition to a visit to their own newly hatched ostrich chicks, their food recommendations were very good. Those who want to stay in Oudtshoorn will find happiness here.

One of the most loveliest experiences we had during our time in South Africa and especially in Outdshoorn. The ostriches are all around the area, the ostrich safari is very close too.
But the highlight and star of the show definitely is the unique place itself and the hosts.

When we asked the owner of the local guest house Earthboun – where we stayed in Oudtshoorn what else to see beside the Caves and Ostrich farm, she highly recommended the Welgeluk Feather Palace as a unique place to see. And it was indeed. We felt so much history, so much taste, when we entered the house. it was as we stepped into year of 1910 but with all amenities of 2021. Original features are lovingly kept, beautifully dressed, with all modern conveniences. And the Lady of the Palace is a delight to meet. When we stopped at the gates, she was about to drive off on business matters, but she stopped and made time to show us the house, rooms and told us its history. All Amazing: the house, the rooms, the decoration and two beautiful dogs…. Planning to stay there at our next visit to Oudtshoorn.
