We had a great couple of nights staying at the Old Mill. Although located a bit out of town, it’s an easy drive and a beautiful setting. We chose this place because it is dog friendly and we were traveling around with our 2 small dogs. We stayed in one of the luxury tents on the hillside above the creek. The tent was very comfortable and well-equipped - we loved the outdoor shower (although they need to replace the showerhead)! We even had TV, Wifi internet, and a heat pump. The included breakfast was outstanding, we loved the traditional Afrikaans dishes as well as the standard breakfast fare. The grounds were beautiful, lots of places to explore, hike around, etc. There was an assortment of antelope and ostriches hanging around as well. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it to others.

We received a warm welcome after a long trip. The cottage on the river was spotless, spacious and very comfortable Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. The quaint dining room overlooked the stream. Helpful suggestions on sightseeing in the area. I would definitely recommend a stay at Old Mill Lodge.

We spent two nights at the Old Mill and would have been happy to stay longer. We booked a luxury tent but found it too hot after a couple of days - despite the air conditioning which fights a losing battle in the Karoo climate in summer! Cokes the manager was fabulous and arranged for us to change to a room with no problem at all so we were able to fully enjoy the wonderful facilities on the property. The breakfast was very good and the restaurant on the premises is pleasantly located right by the river - the old mill wheel that gives the property its name is still in place as a fascinating piece of history. There are animals in various areas of the property, not only ostriches but also rabbits, deer, and a couple of ponies. An imaginative kiddies’ playground makes this place heaven for kids as well as adults. We hope to return with our grandchildren!

We really enjoyed spending a few days at Old Mill Lodge. The outside environment was great and overall the accommodation facilities were good and restaurant facilities very good. George was very helpful and accommodating whenever we needed assistance , even moving us to another tent, at our request. The staff were also very helpful and friendly.

What was disappointing, for the price we had to pay: As a self-catering accommodation , I expected a micro wave oven, some crockery and cutlery and some kitchen space at least. Buying food and having no place to warm it later, wasn't a very nice experience. Also, only 5 TV channels( of which 2 were snowy) - very bad.

A very relaxing location for a half way stop on our journey....rooms were well appointed and private....our rooms overlooked the river which was a great location......
The onsite restaurant served evening meals and breakfast of a good standard.

Our family enjoyed our stay in the river tent, the sound of the water at night was so relaxing. Breakfast was included and a very homely variety of home made options. The Restaurant for dinner was pricey so we chose to go into town and had delicious dinner at Nostalgie, highly recommend the lamb or ostrich shanks :)

Quiet area, allowing for a restful night. Attention to detail in the rooms & living area is fantastic (even have plastic crockery for children!). Would certainly recommend this lodge - good value for money!

This establishment may have been something in it's heyday but be careful not to be mislead. I'd go further to say if you're looking for a rustic experience then this may work for you. We booked a tented room as we've always wanted to try this.

What we liked is the location and the setup in terms of views and privacy. This was ideally located and indeed beautiful... accept the tent wasn't clean, the linen stale and old, the reception staff George really not guest friendly and the next morning breakfast was quite a disappointment right down to mouldy cheese watery bacon water and cold fried egg buffet and crappy coffee! Needless to say we didn't take up the second breakfast coupon we paid for. The pictures you see on the web is not where you eat at all. You don't overlook beautiful green gardens as projected. Fortunately our filthy pillows and linen was replaced and the tent properly clean for our second night. Ageneeman!

We had a pleasant stay the Old Mill. We were treated with friendliness and we had a good night's sleep. However, a few small things might need some attention: A few of the Room's curtain hooks were broken leaving the curtain looking somewhat tatty. The shower door was worn out and really difficult to open and close. The tap at the basin in the bathroom was loose which made it somewhat frustrating to use. There were not enough towels in the room and we had to ask for the missing ones. The food was very good but the selection of available beverages were very disappointing. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Old Mill Lodge very much!

We visited Old Mill for the first time recently. As a big family with young kids, it's hard to find a place that caters for all our needs. Old Mill does this superbly - rabbits galore, lots of other domestic and not-so domestic animals, well-appointed and equipped lodgings keeping wifey happy; clean, neat and warm in the middle of winter, fishing in the dam for the lad, great little braai for me (and reasonably priced firewood), swimming pools, cosy restaurant and of course lots of exploring to do in the area and on the property.
