My experience of Alkira lodge has been one of warmth, relaxed sophistication and absolute attention to detail. The setting and location of the property is unrivaled and offers privacy, luxury and discreet service. The decor, food and comfort are exceptional and I would recommend the lodge to families, business groups, couples and those wanting to celebrate or host an event.
Sam and her team are exceptional hosts.

Nothing can prepare you for the stunning 360 degree views from this truly unique and amazingly tranquil property situated in a very natural, unspoilt setting. You can sit and look at the lagoon, the ocean and the surrounding countryside all day long and there are so many areas to choose from where to sit depending on the time of day and the wind direction. Every single last detail has been meticulously thought out from the luxurious bedrooms with beautfiul bathrooms, comfortable chairs and sun beds to lounge around on to the refreshing swimming pool and well positioned hot tub. There are so many activities to enjoy in Brenton and Knysna and each day started for my family with wake-boarding on the lagoon followed by a delicious champagne breakfast back at the Lodge. We were so well looked after and can't wait to visit again. It was a most memorable holiday

Absolute perfection, 5 stars, all around. This property and Sam and all the staff 100% made our time in Knysna total bliss. My husband and I stayed in the private villa - LOVED it. The views from Alkira are unreal. I think the most beautiful location of all, viewing all of Knysna during the day or under the moon light. (And still just a very short drive to town.)

The food was out of this world. Fresh, local, inventive and endless! Sam has created such a beautiful atmosphere to enjoy evening cocktails, watch the sun set over the beach, cozy fires, great music…obviously I could go on and on about the perfection of Alkira.

The villa was stocked with everything, loved the plunge pool, super clean, great linens, unreal view, loved all the fire place options, sadly never used an inch of the kitchen because the chef was way too incredible to pass up but it looked stocked with anything you could need.

Alkira is a special special place, not to be missed. Thank you over and over for your hospitality Sam! AND Gordon! (Be sure to request Gordon’s sommelier expertise in the evenings - top shelf guy and very fun to chat with.)
You will see us again Alkira! ❤️

We stayed 4 nights and definitely want to go again sometime in the near future. We had the romantic ocean view suite and it was breathtaking. All the details were well thought through with the comfort of the guest in mind and the views and design were magnificent. The staff and hosts are very professional and friendly. It feels more like visiting close friends than staying in a guest lodge. Breakfast and dinner were wonderful and they were very accommodating with me being a vegetarian.

A touch of heaven, perched atop Knysna
Alkira Lodge is the perfect spot for a romantic or family getaway. It has spectacular scenery, taking in sea views at Brenton and the lagoon of Knysna. The accommodation is luxuriously appointed, catering to your every need. Modern and stylish interiors make for a relaxing stay, and on a perfect summer's day enjoy the rim flow pool whilst sipping a cocktail. We had such an enjoyable and welcoming stay at Alkira, it was heaven! Thank you Sam and the Alkira team, we will be back.

Alkira probably rates among the best locations in the entire greater area of Knysna. It has absolutely stunning mountain, sea and lagoon views, incredible finishes and is extremely well equipped. But what stuck me the most was the host, Samantha, friendly and well organized and lovely attention to detail. The staff Primrose and James were lovely too. Absolutely recommend this to anyone, from couples, to small or larger groups or even solo getaways.

Alkira Lodge combines perfectly architechture, design, landscape, food, wine and even company. It is indeed one of the most beautiful places we have been.
Its distribution (private areas and common grounds) allows for great exchanges between guests while maintaining your privacy.
We had a really great time there, enjoying the relaxation of the calm Knysna area and the unique experience of Alkira Lodge.

Alkira Lodge has got to be one of the most out of the ordinary experiences one can have. From the moment you arrive until you are "forced" to leave the views from almost every room and entertainment areas are constantly changing. The swimming pool deck and jacuzzi are overlooking the entire town of Knysna and the sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. The attention to detail makes the lodge a self catering paradise. The bedrooms are exceptional, comfortable beds and even outdoor showers. We even stayed an extra night because it was so hard too leave. A great place to relax and unwind with your family, group of friends or just a romantic getaway. If you are looking for someplace really special, this is it.

We've had the most amazing and memorable stay at Alkira Lodge. We were a group of 18 and hosted a milestone birthday dinner party for my husband on the one evening. Alkira was just the most breathtakingly beautiful and perfect backdrop for this special occassion. Although it was in the middle of winter, the lodge was warm, inviting and cosy. Alkira's talented chef prepared an outstanding 3-course gourmet meal with fresh and seasonal ingredients. The lodge has all the necessary items and facilities to ensure special touches for an unforgettable and delightful celebration.

Answer from KnysnaSamantha
Knysna, South Africa
Hi Rachel, This is a truly beautiful property. "In room" massage, manicure, pedicure and facials are all available. It is best to book in advance of arrival. The Lodge includes breakfast in your stay and dinner is offered in house. The food is tasty and freshly prepared daily by the cook. If there are 4 or more of you you should consider booking the Apartment, here you can also self cater as well as use the main lodge facilities. There is a good restaurant with great views 2 kilometres (5 minutes drive) from Alkira and other good restaurants within 10 minutes drive. The town centre is 15 minutes drive. Taxi services are available and the Lodge staff will assist to arrange taxis. The best way to get around is definitely with your own car as there is a lot to explore in the area. Hope that helps :)
