Our stay at the Private Gueshouse was perfect and very relaxing. We booked the "Eagle"suite, which was well worth the extra money! Such spacious and comfortable accommodation, which was in the secluded gardens adjacent to swimming pool and terrace, would be hard to beat anywhere- if only the SA weather had been kinder to us!

The house and rooms are maintained to a very high standard. The breakfast is delicious and cooked to order and nothing is too much trouble to the charming staff.

Margritt took all the worry from us and booked our golf - even with 3 out of 5 courses closed due to floods! We recommend Pezula course for those who enjoy a challenge! If we preferred to have a quiet night in, Margritt produced a delicious light supper to be enjoyed in our "roundavel" and Bruno shared his cellar and expert knowledge of wines!

A perfect retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Knysna town but close enough to get to all tourist attractions, like Monkeyland, and boat trips on the lagoons. And only a short taxi ride to superb restaurants.

We can thoroughly recommend this 5-star guesthouse !

We booked this 5 star rated guesthouse for 4 nights, it was a perfect stay and we felt at home immediately. It is in a safe and quiet residential area of Knysna next to the Knysna GC and Pezula GC far away from the busy and noisy N 2. It also has off-road parking facilities.

The room are in either Cape Dutch houses or in Rondavels in a true African style. All suites are large and luxurious and perfectly equipped with mini- and coffee bar and expresso machine and have their own BBQ - area.

Breakfast is very good with ample choice of selections of bread, cold cuts, danish pastry, cereals , fresh juices and warm meals.

The guesthouse also has a wine cellar where you can meet before going out for dinner to taste a wide selection of some of South Africa's best wines and Bruno is a real connaisseur.

The hosts, Bruno and Margit from Switzerland are sooo nice, and very welcoming and helpful in every respect. (Restaurant recommendations, booking Tee-off times, advice on what to do and see etc.)

We enjoyed our stay very much and whenever the occasion arises we will definitely come back.

We found the Private Guesthouse in great shape (as expected) when we came to stay again this year. Which means that Margrit and Bruno Giger are investing a lot of time, thought and money to keep this jewel of an estate immaculate and up-to-date. The rooms/bathrooms are beautiful, comfortable and spacious, with everything one could wish for: from the newest TV-set to the mini bar, fresh fruit and complementary Port. Speaking of Bar: there is a charming one on the premises, run by Bruno, with an exquisite wine cellar. It’s a good place to meet after a putting competition on the new mini-golf on the back of the garden, a swim in the pool or a long day exploring Knysna and its surroundings.
But this is just the setting: what makes the place even more special is the warmth and generosity of Margrit’s and Bruno’s hospitality, the wonderful breakfasts, coffee and home-made cakes in the afternoon, well trained and friendly staff. So you’ll hate leaving.
