We've stayed at places all around the world and I can without a doubt say that Villa Afrikana is one of the best places we've ever stayed at. We decided to stay at Villa Afrikana due to the fact that the establishment is rated the best in Knysna (at the time of writing), and there's no doubt it deserves this ranking. The attention to detail and quality in everything is perfect. Breakfast served on your own balcony, afternoon tea, complimentary evening drinks, fresh flowers and daily chocolates on your pillow all contribute to the overall experience. Breakfast is especially good, with everything from oats, fresh fruit, croissants, pancakes, French toast and a full English breakfast available. The rooms and bathrooms are impeccably clean and it's obvious how much care goes into ensuring that everything is kept to the highest standard. Staff and management are knowledgeable about the area and always available to help. The staff are some of the friendliest and most well trained we have come across. I really cannot recommend Villa Afrikana enough. If you want the ultimate in relaxation where your every need is looked after, this is the place for you. In terms of rooms, the 2 rooms at the top both have heated spa baths with candles, bath salts & bubble bath supplied. We stayed for 4 nights and will definitely be back when we visit Knysna again.

Ross and Bianca have created a wonderful luxury guesthouse in Knysna that caters to one's every whim.
Beautifully decorated in neutral tones with African artifacts, there's a large living room, indoor and outdoor breakfast areas and a small pool with loungers. All of the six rooms are spacious with balconies and fabulous views across the lagoon. Beds are large and comfy, bedding and towels seem new. My only quibble would be that the wardrobes are quite small.
But what sets this guesthouse apart is the level of service which is probably the best we've ever encountered, where in the world. Ona and Constance were totally focused on making our stay perfect from ensuring our copious, morning coffee requirements were met to spotting that we had different preferences of cup. Every day we encountered a new delight and there seemed to be a competition to see who could offer us the most amazing fruit selection every morning!
We were so sad to leave because we felt that Ross and Bianca had become friends. They even sorted an emergency dental appointment for me and recommended nail salons and hairdressers as well as restaurants and places to visit. They also lent us their bikes for a cycle around the lagoon. If you are visiting Knysna this is the only place to stay! y

I LOVE to travel and stay in lovely hotels and NEVER have I experienced such amazing service! The staff go above and beyond to be obliging and kind. I’m traveling with my elderly mother who has just had knee replacements and the staff are always at the ready to help her in and out of the car, hold her hand when she goes up and down stairs and more. They are constantly concerned about your needs and comfort. Truly amazing staff. The owners have thought of every detail, the beds are comfortable with the softest crisp white bedding and fluffy white towels. Turn down service included a rose on our pillows, water and a fresh glass next to the bed, a liqueur chilling on ice, a bowl of fresh fruit and a small dish of chocolates. HONESTLY……WOW! Everything about Villa AfriKana is Wow, the place is stunning, the rooms are beautiful and immaculately clean. The view from our room was amazing, the service and attention to detail from the owners, Ross and Bianca and their staff is outstanding. We had a light supper on our terrace one evening all prepared by Villa Afrikana as we watched the sunset and a huge red moon rise, truly memorable. We even saw a staff member cleaning the windows of our car on the day we were leaving, so typical of their first class service, nothing was too much trouble, thank you again for a very special stay.

If you are a traveller with high standards and appreciate immaculate service, you have come to the right place! Villa Afrikana is very stylish and contemporary and the team offers great service. They are welcoming you with a drink, give recommendations for restaurants or excursions and are "always there" - in a very friendly and not overdone way. Breakfast was very good (you choose from a menu) and we also enjoyed the free pre-dinner coktails. Even the car got washed....

We booked here for 3 nights for our honeymoon - from start to finish the staff were incredible and so hospitable - in particular, Blossom, Beauty, Tracey and team! We felt like it was one big home with complimentary afternoon tea and drinks in the evening.
The breakfast was delicious and very generous. Everything was perfectly organised with attention to detail (you even get a free car wash and ironing service!).
The location is perfect to tour Knysna and surrounding areas with a great view from the hotel. Could not fault this property or the staff - will definitely recommend! Thanks to Ross and Bianca who also greeted us on checkout.

We stayed for ne night in January and we both have to say it is a little piece of heaven. We would go as far as to say, u should def experience this!! The staff Blossom and Aina are incredible, having extra special touches as it was our honeymoon, booking a restaurant for us, which was top class. Not to mention the room and the view!!! We had three nights at Villa Afrikana and didn't want to leave. The building is stunning with fantastic art work and the whole place is pristine with amazing views over the Knysna Heads. However, the thing that really made our stay was the staff who were outstanding, especially Beauty, Blossom and Lovemore who made sure that we had everything we needed. Ross and Bianca have created something very special here and we would love to return in the future.

Great location with a sensational view over the Knysna Lagoon. High quality and very tasteful modern furnishings. Clean pool with loungers, beautiful terrace, enclosed parking lot with car wash service. The suite on the upper floor lacked nothing; we were greeted with a fruit plate, sparkling wine and a fresh flower in the toilet. The furnishings here were also very high quality, comfortable seating area, great bed, refrigerator, large bathroom with pleasant care products and fluffy towels. Breakfast and a light evening meal, which was prepared a la minute, were of very good quality. In the afternoon a small fine selection of cakes was offered and in the evening an attractive selection of aperitifs, wines and snacks. The service by the housekeeper Beauty and the other ladies was so perfect that we sometimes wished for a little more relaxed and less formal behavior. There was a certain stiffness that radiated from the team throughout our entire stay. We really appreciate and value very good service and the staff provided perfect service, but we still missed a natural cheerfulness and liveliness that we experienced in many of our other accommodations in South Africa.

This as our 3rd visit to Villa Afrikana, situated in the Knynsa suburb of Paradise, and Villa Afrikana is truly indeed paradise. Ross and Bianca the Owners together with their superb staff ensure that the guests are given their full attention with no request too small to respond to. Villa Afrikana is located 1km from the waterfront area with its restaurant & shops, guests enjoy the gentle walk down the hill whilst a taxi is preferable coming back up from town.
