The Big Tree House Self Catering Lodge is unique. You are invited to enjoy a memorable holiday in one of the 4 timber framed self catering units. All our units have magnificent views of the Knysna Heads and Lagoon. The Big Tree House is set amongst tall trees and a beautiful garden - a perfect base from which to enjoy all that Knysna has to offer. Spacious, comfortable and fully furnished, the home sleeps six - eight and comprises of three bright bedrooms with on-suite bathrooms. Lagoon and Sunbird Cottage both have 2 bedrooms/ 2 bathrooms and can sleep up to 6 people comfortably. Protea Cottage is a one bedroom unit and sleeps max 2. All units have fully equipped kitchens and private decks with barbeque facilities.

Overall a great stay with an amazing view. Very friendly hosts. Highly recommended.
It would have been great to have a laundry machine, as our stay was for two weeks. Would also suggest that fresh towels be provided more often. Otherwise no complaints! Wonderful accomodation for six persons, think it will be a bit crowded for any more if staying more than a couple of days. (Sleeps max 8.)

Dear Christina, Thank you for the kind review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We change the towels every 3-4 days and bedding once a week unless the guest request an earlier change. With our town being on level 3 water restrictions we try to bring our side with regards water conservation. The house you stayed in often house families with small children, hence the sleeper couch in the 3rd bedroom, as you were only 4 guests I am happy to hear that you were comfortable. My wife and I booked in at the Big Tree House for two nights accomodation. We told our friends about it and he and his wife booked in as well. The four of us stayed in the Sunbird Cottage which has two bedrooms both on suite. The cottage was spotlessly cleaned with the kitchen fully equiped with all utensils. Even brickets and fire lighters for the braai on the veranda. The view from the cottage is outstanding. Glenn and Henriette, the owners are such lovely and helpful people. We all will definitely be returning there for another stay.

I can not say enough about the stunning view over Knysna lagoon from this place. The accommodation was superb in a 2 bedroom log house. The facilities were excellent as were the staff. The cabin is self catering with everything you need for your stay supplied. Also due to the lovely garden with large trees and shrubs made the cabin totally private. The hosts were also fantastic people who made every effort to make us feel comfortable and happy. I highly recommend this venue for a stay. On our next visit, we will be staying here again.

Stunning views, magical lush green surroundings and so very picturesque with the hillside dotted with wooden chalets and walk ways and bridges. The house was immaculate, clearly recently redone with all the necessities: full kitchen and microwave, plus gas stove, lovely bathrooms in each bedroom, with plenty hot water and towels. Set up with an inverter and all other essentials to beat loadshedding. Amazing veranda with weber braai. Loved this place and will certainly stay again when back in Knysna. Staff and owners are lovely and discreet and very helpful. It was mid-winter and icy cold, but extra blankets, thick duvets and heaters were supplied. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Very nice and quiet location. We stayed in the 3 bedroom villa. Was fantastic and very very spacious. Check in procedure very easy as the check out. Knysna was an amazing place. Hosts where so friendly and eager to guide you through the house and explain you everything. Heaters and blankets inside all wardrobes and believe me you can feel the cold at Knysna. Unforgettable experience under the night sky with braai area with everything you need. Thank you so much for your hospitality

Our first thought was , how we would get in and out of the driveway ( very steep) but it was quickly put to rest by the owner Henriette. We stayed in the Sunbird lodge down a few steps and a walkway through a lush garden. After some introduction from our host we settled into our wood cabin. Words can’t describe it 😱 its just beautiful,
2 bedroom 2 bathroom comfortable lounge with open plan kitchen. Comfortable couches for lazy evenings . Beds and bedding were impeccable 👍. Little bit chilly inside as it was winter but heaters helped a lot. The privacy of the unit because of lush gardens and trusting owners gave us a sense of having your own place. We could have easily stayed here another week .

Beautiful place to come and relax. Me and my colleague come for work purposes but felt like we on holiday in and out of the cottage. Each bedroom with a bathroom made it extra nice for us for privacy. Henriette was an amazing host, will definitely return

From time of booking to departure, the service was excellent. We left an item behind and Henriette was happy to organise a courier to our next destination. Views are stunning, spacious rooms, beds and linen great, well furnished kitchen, lots of lanterns to light up in loadshedding, easy access to restaurants, pubs and sights, secure off-road parking.
