Nestled in a serene location, Amanzi Island Boutique Hotel is celebrated for its elegant atmosphere and pristine cleanliness that spans from the rooms to the gardens. Guests have access to a wealth of amenities, such as complimentary bicycles and water sports equipment, and many enjoy the scenic views from the cozy lounge areas. While the rooms are generally commended for their comfort and cleanliness, a few guests have noted noise and wear. The staff's warm service has been called out, although there have been occasional lapses in restaurant service. Despite mixed feelings on value, the hotel's tranquil setting and professional service make it a noteworthy destination.

We arrived at Amanzi and were immediately captivated by the views. Leisure isle lives up to its name and the lagoon is a sight to behold... Amanzis complementary kayaks and bicycles allow you to fully explore both.

The room (whale) was more spacious than we had anticipated and had a crisp, clean feel about it. The only disappointment was an issue with our shower drain which threatened to cause a "room lagoon".

The friendly staff at Amanzi had the plumbers on sight within an hour to fix the concern.
The breakfasts were high quality and the shuttle services allowed us the travel to town and not worry about drinking wine (although this came at an extra charge).

Throughout our stay we were looked after by Ability, the grounds keeper, who washes cars, looks after the beautifully garden and helps you to lift the kayak in and out of the lagoon... All with a smile on his face.

Obviously, we are somewhat biased as we got married from Amanzi seven years ago. This was our fourth return visit, this time after five years. It was absolutely wonderful to return. The minute we turn into Cearn Drive it feels like coming home. Since our last visit the lodge has been extended and the new public spaces are light, airy and relaxing. We had the Kingfisher suite with our own pool. The room was absolutely beautiful with the most wonderful bathroom and dressing area which we loved as it meant our room was left uncluttered. The view from Amanzi soothes and refreshes our souls, we love walking across the lagoon when the tide is out. The feeling of peace and tranquility at Amanzi is something we only experience in this special place.

We really loved the addition of the restaurant which served delicious, well cooked food. My husband absolutely loved the cheesecake: one evening we had to wait for it to set as it was fresh out of the oven. Delicious!

But most of all, the lovely staff at Amanzi are what made our visit so special. How lovely to see Promise and Fortune again after all this time. And Miriam, thank you for so patiently answering all my questions before our arrival and during our stay. You all went out of your way to make sure our stay was as special as always.

Of course we will be back. Thank you to everyone. We plan on returning before five years this time!

Till then
Shelley and Terry Bridgwater

We were dropping off family members to continue their journey down the Garden Route and we chose to stay at Amanzi Island Lodge, wise choice.
Stunning set up and rooms are beautifully equipped. Staff are very friendly and most efficient, excellent given that the owners of the lodge reside in Cape Town.
Had a most enjoyable breakfast in the morning and all in all a most enjoyable
stay and heartily recommend it to anybody wanting better end accommodation in Knysna.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Amanzi. It had all the facilities you would expect from a hotel but with the benefit of more personal guest house hosts. They were all so friendly and attentive and the shuttle service was really helpful for meals out. We ate in two nights - great idea to choose dinner in advance and it was then ready almost as soon as we sat down and food was really good quality. They are clearly continually updating and improving the facilities here. Leisure Isle is in my view best place to stay in Knysna - very safe and secure and easy to get to the more busy areas for meals etc.

Very beautiful place, peaceful with Resourceful staff.special shout out to Mirriam, Fortune, Andile and Marriet the staff members who went above and beyond to make us feel quite special.we would definitely come back.

Food; whether it was breakfast or dinner it was always tasty and in generous portions.we tried oxtail, lamb shank, line fish, and chicken curry on different days and they were all tasty. They also offered us very good wine.

We stayed in Kingfisher suite which by my opinion is the best in the lodge.the suite is very spacious with an amazing private pool and veiw. The suite also has a large bath and really spacious shower, a walk-in closet and a small kitchenette with a mini fridge.

The lodge also has this small library with books you can borrow as well as board games like monopoly, scramble, 30 seconds and other similar games if you wanna do something like that.

We also liked the little restaurant with the mood set just right for dinner with candle light and mellow music. The cleanliness of the room is also commendable.

They also have a shuttle to take you anywhere at a reasonable price.we were worried that we might miss a lot if we dont hire a car since we flew in but we never felt trapped by the fact that we didnt have a car.the driver was knowledgeable about the area and willing to take you to interesting places if you wanted.

We really dont like repeating accomodations whenever we travel but we would definitely book here again if we ever found ourselves in knysna.

Sadly very disappointed with this place which my partner had been to 10 years ago and raved about. The room was great but for the price what I expected. The staff however, were slow in service, we took our evening meal there on our first night and the food was adequate but not the gourmet delight I was expecting from somewhere so expensive when compared to its competitors. The table had insufficient light for us to see our food without putting the torch on from our phones. Sad to have to this really.

This was our third stay, say no more!
Stunning location on lagoon with views to the heads. Very comfortable room, lovely decoration.
Breakfast or dinner can be taken outside, weather permitting, pool, bicycles, kayaks available.
Excellent spot to relax, wander around the Leisure Isle, view sea birds, handy for exploring eg Knysna Elephant Sanctuary, Brenton on Sea.
Staff so attentive, thank you to all of you that made our stay so special.

We stayed there for 3 nights during our trip of Garden route during end of September 2022. We had booked it originally for Sep 2021 but couldn't make it due due to Covid but they were so accommodating that they shifted our booking to 2022. We traveled as a family of 3 adults. We had booked Oystercatcher suite for us but we were in for a great surprise as we were offered an additional complimentary suite for our daughter.
The lodge has a superb location facing Knysna lagoon with beautiful gardens. The suites are well appointed.
The onsite restaurant provides excellent breakfast. If you prefer to have lunch/dinner there the choice is limited but the preparation is good.
They provide shuttle service for drop and pickup at a nominal cost to the city. The vehicle is a new one and luxurious and the charges are very resonable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

I always wanted to explore Leisure isle more leisurely. So I was overjoyed when I could get a night a Amanzi Lodge on our way back from the Eastern Cape.
Beautiful views over the lagoon and a tranquil back garden where I could stay for many more days. A lovely pool, big tree to sit under, a garden patio and more. The accommodation is rated 4 stars, but I have never seen such quality fittings in any accommodation. Beautifully furnished with luxurious appliances and decorations. A lot of thought, planning, careful selection and of course money must have gone into this place. Well done!
The staff deserve a round of applause for their attentiveness and friendliness. I did not see the umbrella in our room, we dashed out in the rain to go for breakfast. I had to go back and one of the staff came to fetch me with an umbrella, very thoughtful. The breakfast was a feast with fruit, greek yoghurt, croissants and cooked breakfast. I will be back.

A beautiful property located on a beautiful Leisure island in the beautiful laid back town of Knysna.
Amanzi's rooms are exactly as you see in the pictures. Cosy, comfortable and warm(except during the blackouts, which I believe they should have generators and not let their guests face problems of rooms getting super cold in the night, or there being no light to cook meals/breakfast for the restaurant staff either, thats one of the reasons for taking away a star, the second being they screwed up my preferred room during checkin, just one out of four booked rooms, the remaining three were rightly allocated)
Apart from those two, very fixable problems, Amanzi is the place to stay when in Knysna. The staff is very courteous and caters to all your requests, and i think they did try to make up to the above two problems by offering us a complementary dinner.
The view of the heads from the rooms is just fabulous and a walk along the lane of leisure island where the hotel is situated is superb. Its probably the upmarket locality of knysna.

All in all, I would love to stay again at Amanzi when in Knysna. Just request them to fix the electricity problem during blackouts and have a heated pool in the Kingfisher suite as we could not use the pool in our suite due to the cold water. The kids in the group were very dissappointed by that

Dear Terry I am not sure what negative reviews you are referring to? There have been a lot of incorrect postings for a lodge in another part of South Africa. We keep having to report the incorrect postings. Amanzi has just won Best Sea View lodge for 2015 and has a 9.7 rating We are very proud of our staff who are 100% African staff who are relishing the opportunity to grow with us. Let me assure you Catherine and I are 200% committed to delivering only the best at Amanzi and we have very exiting announcements to make Amanzi even better in 2017. I look forward to chatting about anything you feel we could improve. All the best and thank you very much for your support James 27823337337
