Great location but very, very steep staircase and no help with suitcases in spite of staff witnessing how we struggled. You need both hands to hold on the the steep staircase. Had to leave without breakfast as it is only served from 8am Won't return as the access is impossible when allocated a room upstairs. Double beds quality poor, was so soft we had to move mattress on floor to sleep!

Very decieved by the experience: concerning our room, the cushions were not clean, the shower and shower curtain were not practical AT ALL. Concerning the lodge itself, we could clearly hear the noise from the road and the breakfast was quite decieving, we had to ask for toast repeatedly that they would bring, toast by toast, one by one, at their very own speed... Quite unpleasant owner to finish off. It's a pitty because the town of Knysna itself is so very pleasant. So definitly would not recommend if you want to enjoy your stay in Knysna!

The main house is beautiful but the rooms are not very nice and the owner is not pleasant. He seems to be watching you all the time. Finally, his dog at the back of the house barks regularly. So this is not an address to recommend. It was a bad choice.

Main reception house is built on an old charming structure and character in 19th century. Location: not far and in walking distance to main lagoon Situated: in quiet cul-de-sac street Service: friendly service by Adnes. Rooms: old charm decor and furniture with a need for some maintenance and upkeep to maintain it's  character and bathroom . Breakfast: delicious served by orders on the veranda. Amenities: basic amenities , tea, coffee, milk, sugar, fridge, WiFi , shower in bath,  pool area at back of main house. Special features: Lovely garden and tranquility setting . There is a stand alone fan and fin heater. No  other TV channels except for SABC1,2,3 and E- TV.

Have been using Yellowwood Lodge for over 6 years and although Ernest keeps the place going , it is in need of some TLC as the guest rooms especially those on the outside area need attention. He still has an excellent breakfast

Disappointed with this accommodation. Rooms and en suite very old fashioned. I understand that it’s an old house but I think it needs to be modern inside. We had no water on our 2nd night and the host gave each room 5 litres to wash, shower, make tea or coffee, wash your teeth etc. They rightly ask you to conserve water, which we always do anyway but in the bathroom there’s a sign to say turn the hot tap up to the highest and then turn on the cold as desired to shower!!

We stayed here for 4 nights and were very impressed. This guest house is an excellent example of traditional homes in Knysna. The rooms are traditionally decorated and very spacious. We also had a veranda with our room which was lovely to sit out on in the evening as the sun set. Breakfast was lovely, with our hosts remembering what we had the previous days, even down to my husband liking brown sauce which is excellent hospitality ☺️ If you’re looking for a traditional, warm and cosy place to stay in Knysna with fantastic hospitality then this is it.

My friend and I stayed here for a couple of nights on a fleeting visit to Knysna. Positives: a warm welcome from the manager, clean room, fabulous location (about 10 minutes’ walk to the waterfront), comfortable beds, and the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had in a B&B. Negatives: the bathroom was a little tired, and could do with a little spruce. The shower had good water pressure though. Overall good value for money, and we saw some monkeys next door from our lovely balcony, which was a pleasant bit of entertainment. Thank you to the staff for great service.
