It was a lovely way to finish a ride from Cape Town, next to the beautiful cloud-covered mountains of the Western Cape. Although my stay was just two days, I enjoyed every moment. I think you are positioned perfectly, just a chip and a putt to the waterfront and the activities. Two days were insufficient! Everything was perfect. I just wish this wretched covid would pack up and get lost! Many thanks Colleen and Cecil.
When we arrived we received a friendly welcome from Colleen and Cecil. The rooms are Large with a beautiful view over the Lagoon (some rooms even have a view of the heads!). Great amenities including a Nespresso machine! Colleen was available to give suggestions about the surrounding area and knows the current specials in the area (gave us a great tip for half price sushi at a nearby restaurant the night we were there). A Hot Breakfast was served in a homely dining room, but it was possible to request breakfast on your room balcony if preferred!
The location is great and view is stunning. Very clean rooms and lovely host. Pool area is cozy and the overall experience is that you feel immediately at home. We originally planned for one night and booked another one since there is so much to do around there.
The hosts are amazing, kind and helpful. The rooms are massive and beautiful with an amazing view. Hide Away and their owners have saved our holiday and given us the most wonderful tips of places to visit. Unforgettable! x
Cecil and Colleen give a lovely warm family welcome every time. We've been going since 2015 and only missed one year - only because of a different itinerary. Lovely view of the lagoon, spacious comfy room with all good and necessary amenities and terrace (where breakfast is served a/c weather). Both are very friendly and helpful with suggestions of where to go and will help with bookings and taxis. I admire their aim to be as 'green' as possible. Now we're practically 'family' we feel privileged to spend special social time with them - usually involves a bottle!. Hope to be back next year - and find life post-CV at Hideaway to be even more special (if that's possible!)
We stayed four nights in February and can highly recommend the Hide Away guest house! Rooms were spacious with good size of bathroom. Small terrace in front of the room was serving us as a wine drinking spot in the evenings as well as breakfast table, which was served to us according to our wishes. Additionally friendly owners gave good tips for the restaurants and activities.
The last major source of attractive “Guest House’s” before entering Port Elizabeth and a welcome respite for road travelers of the attractive and popular South African Garden Route while northbound. Colleen welcomes you with cold beverages and a wet towel! Then there is the pool and big rooms to tempt guests too! So nice to relax after a full day but then there are all the friendly restaurants along the Harbour front and the ‘Island’ catering to any range of tastes. Just can’t get away from this place!
We stayed here 2 nights at the end of a long trip. We were welcomed by the owner, Colleen, with warm tea (it was very rainy and cold) and warm advice about restaurants and places to go. Breakfast was prepared and served to us specifically. We felt very cared for. We arrived after two days of rain - in the morning when we woke up, and it was sunny, we were struck by what a beautiful setting this guest house is in. While we didn't have a room with a view, from the front porch and eating area, there is a broad and open view of the beautiful lagoon. The location is also wonderful - walking distance from places to eat, and easy driving to other sites in the area.
We visited at the end of a long trip and found that this was a really comfortable guest house where all the details needed for an excellent stay are ensured. Rooms are generous and well laid out and everything you want is there, and Coleen and Cecil make sure you have a warm welcome, and provide great advice on local attractions and restaurants. There is a wonderful view over the bay. Well worth the stop.
Situated just a short drive and easy walk from the Knysna water front, Hideaway is a hidden gem. Situated on a rise, overlooking the lagoon, with views to Knysna Heads this colonial style property is a must stay location. We received a very warm and friendly welcome from the owners. For a first time visitor the help given in choosing places to visit and dine was invaluable. The rooms are very clean and well presented. Our room had a balcony overlooking the lagoon. The food was first class with a pre order system for breakfast.
