#26 of 32 hotels in Knysna
The property is a large stone built structure built on rock on the edge of the beach at Noetzie, Knysna. It has been built to resemble a medieval castle and is full of comfy, well furnished rooms with beautiful views over the rocks and sea from its many shaped windows. The main entrance opens into a large lounge / TV relaxing area with open fire. The accommodation comprises 3 rooms accessed from this space and 3 more via steps built against the outside walls of the castle. Outdoor areas: Outside the castle boasts gardens to the front and sides and extensive fynbos and rock There are no direct "neighbours" and the castle is very private and not looked-over. The views to the front are the beach and waves crashing against the rocky outcrops. There are various stone steps leading down from the castle and gardens directly onto the beach – which is pebble directly below the castle rapidly becoming golden sand. There is a braai area [charcoal / wood] to the West on the sea-side and a sheltered eating area complete with table and benches. There are two sun loungers and two sun seats all with cushions. The castle sits wi6thin the Noetzie Conservancy - established in 1999. What makes Noetzie so special? The castles of course – but mostly "the golden beach surrounded by forested hills, the dark waters of the lagoon, the rugged, ochre rocks and the thundering breakers that roll in row upon row". In the area: Noetzie offers many activities for visitors. There is a large and peaceful lagoon which is excellent for kayaking and paddling and there are many walks in the nearby Sinclair Nature reserve. The sea is not particularly safe for swimming unless you are between the flags when the lifeguards are in residence [usually during holiday periods] but you can swim quite safely in the lagoon and Noetzie river. Nature and wildlife watching is excellent and the sea is full of life – from visiting dolphins to majestic whales which are often seen just off the beach. Knysna and the Garden Route offer more activities and attractions than most visitors can experience in a holiday visit. From safe paddling, swimming & kayaking in the pristine Noetzie River, surfing and fishing on Noetzie Beach to hiking, cycling, quad biking, scuba diving and horse riding. Extreme sports such as paragliding, bungy-jumping and treetop zip-line forest canopy tours abound. The superb golf courses at Plettenberg Bay, Goose Valley, Pezula, Simola & Knysna are all within easy reach. The world-renowned Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa is close by in Knysna and the development provides numerous 5-star amenities including Zachary's gourmet restaurant, Cafe Z, Noah's Cocktail Bar, a Champagne & Whisky Bar, Cigar Lounge, executive boardrooms, a boutique and a multi-award-winning Spa & Gym with heated indoor pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room

Wow! What can I say? The Pezula Private Castle is without a doubt one of the "best kept secrets" in South Africa. I am in awe of this beautiful place on this beautiful beach... Jeanne Stander and his team are outstanding with everything they do and are always so ready to assist. This is a unique stay - something that will be with you forever and ever. The castle decor is pure opulence and luxury, yet you don't feel out of place or uncomfortable running into the castle with wet bare feet after playing around and swimming on the private beach. The breakfasts and spoils are to die for, my little Honeymoon Castle was simply adorable and tastefully decorated with a private plunge pool. I could actually stay here forever. I want to give Pezula Private Castle TEN stars... And I will definitely return to this fabulous amazing place!!!

From the moment we were welcomed to Pezula Private Castle, we were treated like family/royalty. Nothing was too much trouble for our host Jeanne Stander, and his knowledge about the property and its history was so interesting. The rooms were spectacular - real luxury and space, with views over the breathtaking Noetzie beach. We loved the location, the peace and the sound of the ocean. We also loved the freshly baked croissants and tasty fruit salad for breakfast! If only every weekend could be spent in a location like this...

This place, made me and my fiancé’s dreams come true! The staff here at Pezula Private Caste went beyond the call of duty to make our time here extra special! We truly appreciate all that was done for us, I have never experienced better service in my life and I have been at quite a number of hotels on the garden route and beyond. The Property Manager, Jeanne, needs to be specifically commended as he was extraordinary in what he arranged for us during our stay. Words cannot describe the beauty of this caste and no picture does the experience justice, I would go back any chance I get. I do not have a moment’s regret in sourcing out this place for such an important part in our lives, thank you Pezula Private Caste.
