Honestly can’t rate this place highly enough. We had a room on the first floor at the back of the property - it was huge, very comfortable and quiet. The fixturrs and fittings were plush and the little touches such as the fresh flower cuttings in the room upon arrival made it feel really special. The breakfast was delicious (recommend the pancakes) and we had some laundry done which was returned to us super quickly in half a day (albeit a sunny one!)
The manager also went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and gave some great activity recommendations.
Highly recommended!

This hotel is located in an old mansion, and it felt like we were staying in a piece of living history. The period details were stunning! We stayed in one of the Suites with a Lagoon View and I can’t recommend it enough. Our room was on the second floor with a huge wraparound balcony (connecting to all the other rooms on the floor but with a small fence separating each) and a gorgeous view of the Knysna waterfront. In addition to a spacious room with a view, the bathroom was also amazing. The rain shower was by far the best of the trip, and I wish we’d had a chance to have a bath in the clawfoot tub. We loved wandering around the hotel and grounds, just taking everything in. At night, there is a little bar in a room off the hotel’s foyer and it was so cool to enjoy a drink while looking at old black and white photos of the family who used to live in the house. I also really enjoyed our breakfast, which is served in another gorgeous room with carved ceilings and an old fireplace, and which includes both a cold buffet and a made-to-order hot meal. The only slight con when it comes to this hotel is that it is located in more of a residential neighborhood. It is still only minutes from everything, but it does mean that you will need to drive to dinner rather than walk. Not a problem at all but just something I wanted to note!

We booked accommodation at Parkes Manor for the weekend of the Knysna Forest Marathon and found that it really surpassed our expectations.
The rooms are large and comfortable with beautiful views, and the attentive staff make you feel right at home. The weekend we were there was chilly, but there was a roaring fire downstairs and delicious cake to help yourself to and such was the atmosphere that you were comfortable converging and chatting with the other guests as we all came and went. . . .
Dinner is by prior arrangement and so we ate out at one of the most recommended local eateries our first evening and stayed in the next. The verdict: We wished we had stayed in for both!
As a family who love heritage homes and appreciate the personal touches - we really enjoyed our short stay!

One of the best small hotels we have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The staff are most welcoming and indeed on arrival, a glass of orange and a piece of Jocelyn's home made cake (Most Delicious) was provided. The hotel is very tastefully furnished and is spotlessly clean. Time dictated that we could only stay over one night but if we ever travel to Knysna again we will undoubtably stop here. The breakfast area is most elegant with clean crisp linen table cloths and high quality cutlery etc. Breakfast was excellent. Loved our overnight stay here and thoroughly recommend.

The hotel is great and well located on the Garden Route for Knysna and Plettenberg Old colonial design with great reception areas, nice pool area and large bedrooms Breakfast was great as was dinner The web photos need improvement as they don’t do it justice Both the General Managers were attentive and helpful. The lady on their day off not quite as friendly. Certainly a great find

We stayed here and had a friends wedding at Parkes Manor. The rooms are out of this world, however the service is just fantastic. I must applaud Jan-Hendrik and Albert, the managers. They let us celebrate until the early hours of the morning, waited patiently and then cleared the reception at 3 in the morning. They went over and above to make everybody’s stay amazing!

Response from ParkesManor, Inhaber at Parkes Manor

Dear Bianca, thanks for your kind words. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay so much. For everyone else browsing through these comments I would like to emphasize that weddings only take place at Parkes Manor if the whole house is booked by the wedding party. We take care that private functions and usual guest bookings never collide - in the interest and to the service of both.

This was our second time at Parkes Manor and we really enjoyed it there again. The welcome with a welcome drink was warm. This time we stayed on the upper floor with a view of the lagoon. Everything was lovingly decorated with flowers, even the cups at breakfast. The fire in the fireplace created a cozy atmosphere. In the lounge there was a freshly baked cake for self-service, which tasted very delicious, as did the dinner that we had pre-ordered for the next evening. Everyone at Parkes Manor was extremely nice and helpful. We were delighted to see the many birds in the garden.

A lovely historic building and maintained to the highest level, with a mixture of old and new furnishing, new bathrooms with contemporary decor. Extremely clean with lovely welcoming fresh flowers in the bedroom and bathroom. The view was special looking over the lagoon. A fire was lit every evening which made the lounge a warm and welcoming space. The breakfasts were super with everything you could want to eat before going out. The team were all very friendly and full of interesting facts about the history of the house and the Parkes family who owned it. It was a lovely oasis of calm and warmth and we were really delighted we had booked it for 2 nights. We were reassured we could safely walk to local restaurants at night, so enjoyed the local harbour restaurants and of course South African wine without having to drive. Even the cold and wet weather didn’t dampen our stay and we will be back to hopefully enjoy the hotel in the sun and make use of their lovely swimming pool. Recommend staying for more than one night in order to enjoy the hotel and surroundings.

Beautiful grounds, room and breakfast. The attention to detail is noticed throughout the accommodation including a welcome drink and checking in on us throughout the stay. The pool is a lovely area to relax and the rooms and balconies are spacious and impeccably maintained. The bathroom decoration is stunning! The breakfast has a wide variety of options and catered to different dietary requirements, only a 15 min walk to Knysna central and a safe walk along main roads. Would highly recommend staying at Parkes Manor

Parkes Manor hotel. We booked a stay at the Parkes Manor hotel for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. From the moment of arrival, we received a wonderful welcome with a welcome drink and refreshing towels until our departure. Parkes Manor is a beautiful colonial style house, lovingly decorated and maintained by Jan Hendrik and Albert and their team. And they will also take wonderful care of you. We had a beautiful room with fresh flowers everywhere and a beautiful bathroom. When you enter, the fireplace is lit and candles are burning, which gives a very welcome feeling. Breakfast consists of a buffet with delicious fresh meats, cheese, fruit, sweets and delicious bread, as well as a choice of hot breakfast dishes that are prepared a la minute. In the afternoons there is freshly baked cake or something else delicious baked in the reception room almost every day by the always friendly Jocelyn. And in the evening you can have a delicious dinner in this beautiful building and there are candles burning everywhere. You have a beautiful view over the garden, which also includes a beautiful swimming pool with a number of sun beds. When you drive into the driveway after opening the gate, you immediately feel like you're in a different time. It is within walking distance of Knysna center and Waterfront. It is a wonderful stay
