The staff is not very friendly and do not have welcoming nature. Not impressed. Further, they reserved the whole restaurant for a tourist group and the guests were left stranded for dinner. In the common restaurant for breakfast they had special items for a group and it was in the middle of the buffet but normal guests were repeatedly told not to use it. This was rude and insulting. It took lot of time for the porter to come for the luggage. Generally very unwelcoming approach. I
This is a wonderful hotel right on the lagoon. All the staff were friendly and professional from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Breakfast was abundant with a vast variety ranging from cearal, fruit, pastries to a full English. Staff were helpful and attentive throughout. Rooms were a good size and have both UK and SA plugs which was great as we were visiting from the UK however, no USB plugs available in the room. Lovely bathrooms with bath and seperate shower, plenty of towels for the number of guests in the room.. The hotel is fresh and well maintained and situated near a good variety of restaurants
The Marriott protea is our favourite hotel and this is our second visit. Fantastic location right on the harbourside with a lovely pool and great staff. Room 234 was in a good place near the stairs and lift and overlooking the pool. It had a magnificent king-size bed which was extremely comfy. While it didn’t have a balcony there are rooms nearby for an extra cost. Secure parking is available right outside the hotel in its spacious car park for a few extra rand per night. Friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay and Chester at the bar is a real fun character. Pool was nice and quiet at our stay and we loved relaxing there. The breakfast was good with all hot food cooked to order. We walked up the Main Street in Knysna on a few occasions and found some good pubs and restaurants with Anchorage probably the best. It’s also an easy walk across the bridge to pleasure island which has some good views and eateries. When we return to Knysna there really is no other choice but to stay at the protea for us. Thoroughly recommended.…
1. The reception staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, professional and efficient. 2. The location of the hotel is perfect and the outdoor heated pool is magnificent. 3. Some of the staff (not all) during breakfast were incredibly friendly and helpful and went out of their way to assist, especially Enrico. He is an example of excellent customer service! Disliked · 1. The bed was horribly uncomfortable with a very poor quality, sunken in mattress that caused me incredible back pain during my holiday and ruined my enjoyment of my stay there. There were also bed bugs that bit me all over my stomach and front side and every morning I woke up with fresh new insect bites. 2. There was an ant infestation in our room, which was incredibly annoying. 3. The kitchen manager on duty (I don't know her name) provided poor and pathetic service. Despite me phoning the hotel and emailing the hotel beforehand to arrange for special dietary requirements during breakfast, the execution of my special requirements was very poor. There were several times that I went down to breakfast with limited time to eat due to time constraints (I had medical appointments in Plettenberg Bay) and then my boiled eggs and my peeled and sliced fruit were not prepared at all. The young lady at the desk taking our room number for breakfast looked miserable and as if she hated her job. She would barely greet us and literally turned her back on me and walked away when I confronted her about the lack of service and the lack of preparation of my special dietary requirements. She would give me a nasty, irritated look and shrug her shoulders and tell me that she "doesn't know nothing about what goes on in the kitchen", instead of inquiring what my problem is and how she can help. The pathetic service which I solely blame on kitchen management resulted in me having quite a rushed and unpleasant breakfast several times because they did not do as I asked them repeatedly. This was shocking and disappointing, to say the least. The kitchen/restaurant manager also had a very poor attitude and most of the time she was absent and not there to supervise in the first place. I don't understand why they couldn't carry out simple request which I asked for repeatedly. 4. The housekeeping management failed to inform the rotating cleaning staff of my special requests for the room and during the last 2 days of our stay, the cleaning lady kept removing the extra towels in the room after cleaning, resulting in me having to phone reception repeatedly to request the extra towels again. 5. The Wifi connection was quite poor.…
The hotel itself is in a great location, right on the waterfront and within walking distance to a few restaurants Gorgeous outdoor heated pool to relax at, towels provided Breakfast was great with a little something for all taste buds; strict covid protocols adhered to by all staff The staff we AMAZING! Sooo friendly and nothing was to much trouble. This is often lacking, so was refreshing to experience 5-Star service Rooms are comfortable, with 2 double beds, great view of the waterfront, mini-fridge and a Smart TV. Floor space is a little limited (due to 2 beds) so we had to be creative with our suitcases Parking available onsite at an additional R30 per night
Great hotel. The breakfast was lovely with a great variety of foods. Halaal options were provided and we were comfortable throughout our stay. Close to the city centre and beaches not too far. Friendly staff, lovely heated pool and good atmosphere.
Nice hotel in a beautiful location on the waterfront in Knysna. Clean and well serviced we enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately no dinner service, which was a bit disappointing. The staff are super friendly and efficient. Breakfast can be improved with the selections sparse agains comparable hotels.
My husband booked this hotel for the last night after our vacation because the place we stayed at we fully booked for the last day we had to go back home The hotel is cramped, the bathtub was greasy and not cleaned. the floor had stains like urine in the bathroom. I had to ask for soap to clean the bathroom before we could use it as I was told the house keep was not available at that time
We enjoyed our two night stay here greatly! The view onto the water was very nice. The location was great! We enjoyed walking around this area. The service was nice. Laundry done here was returned in boxes, nicely folded. We would stay here again! On site parking was good.
We had a very nice room overlooking the lagoon. The breakfast menu was substantial and the staff friendly. The hotel does not serve lunch or dinner, but is within easy walking distance of restaurants. Overall, we really enjoyed our 4 day breakaway.
