It was time for vacation, and we again decided to travel to wonderful Knysna and of course we stayed at the Double Dutch.

We have been traveling to South Africa since 2012 and every time we came to the Garden Route the descision where to stay was an easy one: There is no better place in Knysna than the Double Dutch.

Both owners, Nathalie and Kate, run a wonderful B&B and are the best hosts that you can imagine.

The rooms are well shape and some new colors make them very cosy. The already great breakfast even got better, there are even more choices of fresh products now. Everything is freshly prepared and very delicious.

The whole B&B is very well maintained, there is a wonderful garden and a very nice pool where relaxation after a day of sightseeing is guaranteed.

Nathalie and Kate helped us to get around in the area, had some great recommendations regarding restaurants and activities and helped us organizing our days.

To put it in a nutshell: Thanks to them and the Double Dutch we felt at home away from home.

We will come back.

Two charming ladies welcomed us in a professional, personal, warm and friendly way at the start of our stay in their guesthouse for 4 nights. Their tips about restaurants, safety, original activities (such as a local market and a visit to a township) helped us incredibly much for the organisation of our activities in Knysna.

The room, in a rather colonial style, was spacious, with a warm atmosphere, very neat and cosy. A private terrace with garden furniture offered a magnificent view of the lagoon and the slopes (with many steps) of the well-kept garden.

A nice swimming pool with sun loungers and parasols offered an ideal place to relax. Late one afternoon we were kindly offered a drink at the pool.

We could comfortably leave our rental car in a secured parking lot within the guesthouse.

The breakfast with warm options a la carte (including warm fresh waffles) and a buffet of cheese, meat, fruit, vegetables, fruit juice, cakes, yougourt etc… was excellent and served friendly and creative.

The fact that the weather was exceptionally nice, we did not have to thank the two Dutch Ladies. It only made our stay even more pleasant.

The Double Dutch in Knysna is the warmest accommodation we have come across in all our years of traveling. Nowhere else are you welcomed and looked after so lovingly. Kate and Natalie are always willing to listen and give great recommendations for excursions or restaurant visits. We would check in here again and again.

All rooms are lovingly furnished and spacious. Some have a terrace with a wonderful view of the bay. The rooms are super clean.

The breakfast is always fresh and delicious. Egg dishes or waffles are prepared on request. The waffles are not to be missed.

From the Double Dutch you can reach many restaurants as well as the marina and the city on foot. It is also a perfect starting point for many excursion destinations.

What you shouldn't miss in Knysna: eating at the Freshline Fishery.

This was by far the best private guest house we stayed at during our three month road trip in South Africa. The room was extremely well appointed, tastefully decorated and had amazing views. The garden and pool area is fantastic, and we had immense fun watching the resident Knysna Loeries. Breakfasts were top class.

But what makes this place so special is the owners, Kate and Nathalie. They couldn't do enough to help us, and gave super advice on what to do in the area, and even organized restaurant a booking for us for new years eve - where we had been unable to organize anything ourselves because we had left it so late.

Kate and Nathalie are genuinely interested in all the guests, and you arrive as a customer, but leave as a friend. If you are in Knysna - don't miss this experience!!

This was the sixth time we stayed with Kate & Nathalie - the warmth cannot be surpassed! Everyone who visits Knysna should treat themselves to a visit from them and at least one night's stay. The rooms are very lovingly designed and the view of the lagoon is breathtaking. Even after such a long time, we can't get enough of it. Kate and Nathalie are of course the highlight of the B&B, they are always on hand to offer advice and assistance, always have good tips and also make the best breakfast. You can relax fantastically by the pool and admire the well-kept garden. You should also definitely take the time to look at Nathalie's great paintings!
We will of course be back!

Spent 2 days in Knysna with the ladies from Double Dutch and it was fantastic!!

The place is beautiful, we had the room next to the pool with a great view.

The b&b is run by 2 ladies (sorry, forgot names 😊) and it is all very well organised, the personal attention, the chat at breakfast, clean rooms, in short, a wonderful place.

At the end we received a bag of bobotie herbs including a recipe to make at home!

Highly recommended to stay here.

Arrived to a wonderful heartfelt welcome. Room was beautiful, absolutely stunning views. Hosts gave us great recommendations on hikes to do in the area and restaurants. We only managed to have the cooked breakfast once during our stay due to early morning activities planned but we were welcomed to early breakfast of fruit, cereals and bread obviously with some coffee. The cooked breakfast was fabulous. Felt like home away from home we would have gladly stayed longer.

Calm, restful, fantastic location with amazing gardens and spectacular views. Kate and Nathalie made us very welcome and were most helpful in recommending restaurants etc. Their breakfasts of fresh fruit and home cooking set you up for the day! We hope to return!

This is by far the best B&B we stayed in whilst travelling through South Africa. We could not fault them in any way. The whole place was very clean, the breakfast was lovely and the owners Kate and Nathalie were amazing. They gave us great recommendations on things to do/places to eat and were always on hand whenever needed. A 10/10 stay and would 100% stay here again if we travel through Knysna.
