An absolute gem in Knysna within a quiet neighborhood and close to the Heads. The accommodation is stylishly decorated with ample space and care given to the smallest of items. Breakfast is off the top shelf with Dianne conjuring up the tastiest and best looking dishes. The best part of the stay has been the hosting by Dianne and Rob with nothing being too much effort. We were in Knysna for the marathon and we’re given a lift to and from the race by Rob. This included a trip at 5.15 in the morning. On Saturday Rob organized a table at a nearby restaurant to watch the Boks play the Aussies. The lodge is very well priced as well which makes it very economical for even a family to visit. Hands down the best stay I’ve ever had in Knysna. We will definitely be back.

We had booked One on bollard seeing the rave reviews especially for the hosts and undoubtedly Rob and Diane’s kindness and generosity of spirit is something we will never forget. It is inspiring to see two people with such a big welcoming heart and so genuine at that. One on bollard is a labour of love, exquisitely adorned and extremely comfortable. Diane and Rob both helped us with amazing recommendations and went a step further by organizing and booking experiences for us which made us feel very special . We will treasure the wonderful conversations with them and will likely visit them again soon. Our son Satvik lists Rob as one of his friends on his trip to South Africa :) the breakfast Rob served were always superb- freshly made and delicious. The next time we come down to the country we are going straight to One on Bollard.

A spacious, beautiful suite with a fantastic bathroom (“Clyde”) in a quiet, beautiful location. Nothing is missing... and everything is done with great attention to detail. Added to that is the very warm care provided by Diane and Rob, who conjures up one of his 32 breakfast variations every day. Highly recommended as a base for excursions in the surrounding area, which has a lot to offer.

This place is by far the standout of our South Africa trip. From the location (stones throw to beach, quiet and easy reach to local cafe and Knysna centre by car), hosts (Rob and Di were unbelievable), property and rooms/suites (immaculate and huge!), detail (outdoor showers, pre-packed beach towel bag, cooler bag, beach parasol etc…), breakfasts (to die for! The best we’ve had at any guesthouse, ever), service (everything was just spot on), and family-friendly (it was so secure, great space for the kids, fish and dogs, and kayaks to use at the lovely beach with no waves). Honestly, there aren’t many places we’d go back to twice, but this is one of them. While we typically like to keep our best holiday spots a secret, Rob and Di deserve every bit of praise we can give for what they’re doing at One on Bollard. It’s a piece of heaven. Thank you again!

We stayed at One on Bollard for a week during our 3 week trip. It was our personal highlight on our trip. We felt at ease with our toddlers because especially the hosts Diane and Rob have welcomed and looked after us so warmly. They gave us daily tips for activities and always reserved us a table in the restaurant. We had nothing to worry about. The rooms were great. There was even a bucket of toys for the beach in the lagoon, which was just steps away. Breakfast was great. Bread, butter, yogurt, various cereals come from our own production, daily there was a hot “breakfast special” as an encore.
One on Bollard is a small guesthouse with few rooms that are very tastefully decorated. Along with the very warm contact with the hosts, it makes the stay very personal and special. We will definitely come back!

What a wonderful and restful stay we had again at One on Bollard, kindly hosted by Di and Rob. From the clean and quiet rooms with all mod cons which open out onto a tranquil garden space with outside shower, loungers and wildlife! Always accommodating our needs topped off by the morning breakfast specials professionally prepared for our enjoyment. Thank you once again for a great stay!

One On Bollard is a beautifully thought out and presented guest house. Every care has been taken to ensure that guests have an unforgettable time - the rooms are gorgeous, you have your own private garden space, the pool area and breakfast space is a quiet and calm area, you have use of canoes and bikes. As for the breakfasts - over 30 different specials and counting! But what makes this exceptional are the hosts, Rob and Diane, who provide a unique and personal hosting service.
Superb doesn’t come close.

We loved everything at One on Bollard! Diane and Rob are such lovely and thoughtful hosts and will immediately make you feel at home during your stay.
Every room is decorated individually with lots of attention to detail and the homemade breakfast was just so special and delicious! The guest house is situated perfectly on Leisure Island just a few metres from the beautiful beach and only a few minutes from Knysna centre. Diane and Rob also gave us lots of advice on activities and helped us making them happen.

We would love to come back one day!

This was one of our favourite places to stay during our trip to South Africa in December. The guesthouse is beautiful in every way and our hosts, Rob and Diane, were really hospitable, accommodating and genuinely lovely. We've stayed in some top class hotels in our time but few of them live up to what One on Bollard offers. The attention to detail was amazing, including every imageable accessory in the bathroom and the wonderful breakfasts (practically everything home made including the butter and the granola.) The guesthouse is situated on Leisure Isle and the immediate area is perfect for walking locally or an easy enough distance from more challenging exercise in the form of the Robberg Hiking Trail. Both Rob and Diane were more than helpful in advising us about places of interest. We cannot in any way, fault One on Bollard and we would certainly go back in the future. It's as close to perfect as you can get.

My husband questioned my reasoning for a one night stay on Leisure Isle but we had a wonderful time. Check-in at One on Bollard was a breeze and after a complimentary gin and tonic (with berries) we were on our way.

The room itself met my expectations. It was modern and spacious. What I did not expect was the luxurious bathroom, the nice little outdoor seating area and the large cupboard/room for your baggage. Inside the cupboards we also found an umbrella, beach chairs, beach towels and a cooler box. We brought our own but took note of these extras.

Soon we were on our way on the complimentary bikes to explore Leisure Isle. We had a lovely cycle around the island which I thoroughly enjoyed. The guest house is located in close proximity to Bollard beach, which is the perfect beach for those who don't like big waves.

Next we used the coffee station in our room for an afternoon coffee. After a shower with the ocean scented shower gel I was ready for the evening. The hosts gave us a tip about a live music concert taking place at a nearby venue and we were off.

The next morning the hosts allowed us to use the kayak and we did a trip to Featherbrook nature reserve and back. Quite exciting.

Breakfast was a leisurely affair. First we had some baked yogurt with fruit. Baked yogurt? Delish! Then my husband tried the specialist breakfast called Dutch Babies - puffed pancakes with nectarine. My eggs were done to perfections but I have to admit that the Dutch Babies looked like the better choice at that stage.

After having a look at the Koi fish at the entrance to the guest house it was time to leave.

We had one day at One on Bollard and it was perfect.

Good afternoon - Leisure Isle is an small island with only one entrance and exit so as a location, it is safer than most places. If you read the reviews across many booking sites you will see the safety factor referenced many times. Regards Diane
